This release of DOORS provides the first step to integrate DOORS to IBM Rational Jazz-based systems. Publication of Requirements Management web services through Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) ( offers an open initiative to integrate DOORS with other solutions. Previously DOORS was limited to extensions running from within a users client environment. With OSLC, IBM frees up the user interface for user operations while offering server-side interfaces to DOORS in order to help automate integrations to other systems. OSLC enables the production of generic interactions from DOORS to other disciplines and remove the need to produce many point-to-point connectors. 2 Key prerequisites To download and install IBM Rational DOORS V9.2, your organization must have a license with valid maintenance and be running IBM Rational License Server TL V1.3, V1.4, V1.5, or V2.0. For information about how to obtain a license and about the IBM Rational License Server TL, refer to the product's user documentation. You must be running IBM Rational DOORS Directory Server V4.3 or V5.0. For information about the IBM Rational DOORS Directory Server, refer to the supplied user documentation. The computer on which you install the IBM Rational DOORS database server must be running TCP/IP. If you want to use FLEXnet licenses, the computer on which you install the FLEXnet license server must be running TCP/IP. Your monitor resolution must be at least 800 x 600 pixels. At least 1024 x 768 is recommended. If your display card supports only 256 colors, you may experience unusual color effects. Although this will not affect underlying data, we recommend you use a display that supports more than 256 colors. Planned availability date September 17, 2010: Electronic availability October 8, 2010: Media availability Description OSLC web services for DOORS Publish Requirements Management web services What is it: Publication of OSLC Requirements Management 1.0 web services designed to provide a server-side, web services-based integration point to requirements management systems. What does it do: Provides a generic integration point for both Jazz based systems and also third-party tools to provide a generic integration to all tools offering support for Requirements Management OSLC v1.0. Who should buy it: This functionality provides a fast effective way of integrating to Requirements Management solutions without the need for many point-to-point integration solutions. Generic integrations to change management systems starting with IBM Rational Change Pre-requisite IBM Rational Change V What is it: Consumption of CM OSLC 2.0 Web services in order to integrate to all CM systems supporting OSLC. What does it do: Provides two mechanisms for a requirements user to interact with a CM system. a.requirements-driven development enabling DOORS users to instigate the development process by creating implementation requests based on originating requirements. 3 b.requirements change management using facilities of a CM system to control and govern changes that are made to requirements and thus solving one of the largest problems in our industry, control of project scope. Why should users but it: Control and visibility of project scope has been listed as one of the top reasons for project failure. This release allows organizations to select the CM system they feel suites their needs best while using that CM system to govern and report against project scope. Heightened security What is it: Additional security functionality designed protect against fraudulent or mistaken abuse of the data stored within DOORS. What does it do: There are three components to heightened security within this release of DOORS: a.support for SSL communications between the DOORS client and server. b.support for certificate-based authentication to offer PKI technology to govern authentication to DOORS. Furthermore this PKI technology provides support for generic smart card technology to authenticate to DOORS. c. Control and governance over which customization's can be executed within an organization. Domino XML is powerful and offers organizations with the ability to customize DOORS in many different ways. Where an organization wishes to govern approved customization's that should be deployed, this release offers controls over which extensions can be used. Why should users buy it: re and more organizations use DOORS for more than just requirements but also as an organizations information store. This release of DOORS provides a mechanism to protect customers investment in their information systems. Enhanced document generation What is it: Built-in functionality within based on common IBM Rational technology to generate Microsoft Word documentation from DOORS information. What does it do: Replaces existing functionality for document generation with a focus repeatability, speed of production and quality of overall output. Why should users buy it: This functionality is free of charge and embedded inside the main DOORS product. Document generation is used to provide formal project documentation, which is often a deliverable customer projects. Improved analysis for web-based tools What is it: An extension to DOORS Web Access What does it do: The function provides the web-based end user of DOORS Web Access to decide on how much information they wish to see at any given time. Previous releases of DOORS Web Access had the end user relying on a manager to predefine what information is displayed. Why should users buy it: Any user wishing to use DOORS Web Access for more functions than simply requirements authoring will benefit from this capability. Extending the reach for Requirements Management systems into further locales What is it: Additional translated versions of DOORS in French, German and Russian. DOORS already comes with versions in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. What does it do: Provides translated versions of DOORS to offer translations for User Interface, online help and error messages. Why should users buy it: With translated versions of DOORS an organization can enable cross cultural users to access a common tool in their preferred language. Extending OSLC further, this release of DOORS provides built in capabilities to consume generic services from CM systems. In a single release, DOORS provides generic integrations to all CM systems supporting OSLC. 4 With a shift towards tools utilizing Internet style techniques to integrate, it is more and more important to provide strengthened security. This release of DOORS provides three capabilities: SSL communication between the client and server Certificate-based authentication including support for smart cards (with PKI) Control over which customizations are authorized to execute within a corporation This release of DOORS includes standard reporting technology from IBM Rational to offer quick-to-generate, high-quality, repeatable document production which can be used to provide requirements information for formal project documentation. This release of DOORS Web Access extends existing usage models of read, review and authoring of requirements with analysis aides to filter and interrogate requirements within a web-based user interface. With a wider need for multi-cultural support within distributed teams, this release of DOORS and DOORS Web Access provides additional translated versions for German, French, and Russian speakers. Technical information Specified operating environment Hardware requirements DOORS 9.3 Before you can install the IBM Rational DOORS Database Server, your system must meet the following requirements: The minimum system requirements for Windows are: 128 MB more RAM than recommended for your particular Windows system 1At least 100 MB of free disk space for installation and use 1At least a 400MHz processor 1TCP/IP The minimum system requirements for UNIX, Linux, Solaris and HP-UX are: Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for RAM At least 100 MB of free disk space for installation and use TCP/IP Before you can install the Rational DOORS client, your system must meet the following requirements: The minimum system requirements are: At least 128 MB RAM and a 350MHz processor At least 200 MB of free disk space TCP/IP You must also consider the following requirements for your system: In order to download and install Rational DOORS, your organization must have a license with valid maintenance and be running versions 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 or 2.0 of the Rational License Server TL. For information about how to obtain a license, and about the Rational License Server TL, see the product's user documentation. If you are running the Rational Directory Server, you must be running version 5.2. For information about the Rational Directory Server, see the user documentation that is supplied with it.
