4 MOBILE SUBSTATIONS Mobile Substation is a electrical substation mounted in one or more semi-trailers. This System is used when a temporary power supplies are needed. Provides easy and flexible solutions. System contains all needed components for a substations to supply power. Such as Control and Protection panels, AC and DC auxiliary supplies, switchgears, power transformers, HV Equipments etc. System can be designed according to customers need. So there are different kinds as 132/33kV, 132/11kV (16-35MVA), 33/11kV (5-16MVA) etc. Parts Of Mobile Substations; HV Equipments, Power Transformer, Auxiliary Transformer MV Switchgears, Control and Protection Panels, LV Panels, Cabling Mobile substations are used in fallowing conditions; In case of emergency when urgent power supply is required In military camps, Backup unit in case of war or natural diseasters, Continuity of service for planned construction, maintenance and inspection programs Over capacity services

5 Advantages of Mobile Substations; Less space requirement, Minimal civil work needed Protected Against Environmental Impacts Quick Solution During Emergency Commissioning in a Short Time Modular System to Install Easily Decrease in cost of temporary substation Easy to expand and relocate Operation 1.The ability to supply at 33kV, 22kV or 11kV, enabling the mobile substation to operate at all designated sites. 2.Associated with this multi-voltage functionality is a system of interlocks to prevent mobile substation equipment or feeders being livened at an incorrect voltage. 3.The transformer phasing can be reversed to enable the Mobile Substation to be parked under a transmission line in either direction yet able to provide correct phase rotation to the customer. 4.A specialised 110kV CB has bushings that can rotate out so that the phases have correct phase to phase clearance when in service, but rotate together to keep within the allowable width for transport on NZ roads. 5.A hydraulically operated security fence was developed that can swing out when the CB bushings are rotated out,and moves into the vertical position when in transit. 6.An automatic SF6 filling mechanism will fill the 110kV SF6 CB prior to livening, and depressurises the CB prior to transportation. Secure communications was developed and interconnected with the Transpower SCADA system, to enable remote control of the Mobile Substation, and integration into the Transpower grid. 7.Oil interception is provided via a shallow tray on the Mobile substation that pipes directly in to the host substation oil interception facilities. 8.All cables are stored on the Mobile substation on cable reels that are motorised, able to be remotely controlled and also ableto be lifted off the Mobile substation and used at ground level.
