1 Summer Holiday ipad MOT Dear Pupils, So, another academic year has finished. In order to keep your ipad in tip-top working condition, below is a quick list of things to run through to check. Please run through these tasks so it is ready for the new academic year: 1) Correct Apple ID You should be signed in to your itunes and icloud with the same Apple ID. This should be your school address. You can check this by going ipad -> Settings -> Apple ID and checking the address here: 2) Check this 4) Check this 1) Tap on settings 3) Click on itunes If you haven t setup your Apple ID correctly, go to appleid.com and sign in. Here you can change the address associated with your Apple ID. Then, on your ipad, sign out of your Apple ID and sign back in again with the new address.

2 2) Is your ipad backing up? Go to ipad -> Settings -> Apple ID -> icloud -> (scroll down) icloud Backup and make sure it is turned on. Next, go to ipad -> Settings -> Apple ID -> icloud -> Manage Storage and make sure you have plenty of space on your icloud. Lots of space If you are running out of space, you can go through all the apps that are taking up space in your icloud and delete the data. You can also go into Backups and change what data is being backed up. Things like imovie, itunesu don t need to be backed up.

3 3) ipad Clear-Out Go to into your photos and delete any photos or (more importantly) movies you don t need anymore. These take up lots of space on your ipad and it s good to clear them out regularly. When done, go into the Recently Deleted folder and empty that out too. Next, go to ipad -> Settings -> General -> ipad Storage and see how much space you have. You should have over half free space. If you don t, delete any unwanted and unused apps from your ipad also. 4 4) Update all apps and software Plug your ipad into power (this bit may take some time) and go to into ipad -> Settings -> General -> Software Update. Download and update any software to get your ipad unto date. If there are any red numbers on your settings icon, sort them out also: This needs sorting When done, to into the App Store -> Updates and update any apps that need doing.

5 5) Are important Apps backing up? Open your Notability app and go into settings (tap on the cog) -> icloud. Make sure it is turned on. If you do DL, go into Pythonista3 (the green icon) and make sure all your scrips are in your icloud folder. If you have some that are not, move them into it. You may have other apps that you use often that allow you to back up data into your icloud. Can you check that all your data is safe?

6 6) Empty your s Your school account gets clogged up, particularly with s contains attachments. You can only clear put your s on a PC, so sit at a PC and click on this link on your ipad to watch this video: 7) Renew your School Password Your school password needs renewing every 120 days, or you lose access. Might as well do it before term starts! Go to and complete the middle section that allows you to renew your password. If you have forgotten your password, complete the top section:

7 8) Make Sure FOLDR is working Open the FOLDR app on your ipad and check that you can sign in. If you can t, you may need to re-enter in the server address foldr.kimboltonschool.com and your school password: your username

8 9) Make Sure your ipad has a case Last year, 17 pupils had ipads with no cases and dropped their ipads and smashed them. Those who did have insurance didn t get any money back because they had no case. So, if you haven t got an ipad case, get one before the start of term!
