2 Download the Application The Groupon merchant application lets you track redemption directly from your iphone or Android. Using the app ensures your data is always up-to-date, allowing you to track hard data on how much your customers actually spend. This enables you to calculate your deal s ROI and track redemption trends and curves. To download the merchant application, Search Groupon Merchant in the App Store on itunes or in the Android Market. 3 Sign In To sign into the app, use the credentials your Groupon representative sent you in the Getting Ready . If this is your first time using the app, you ll see a welcome screen that provides brief directions on how to redeem a Groupon. Swipe the screen to the left to check out recommendations on what data to collect to track your promotion s ROI. Click Get Started to begin. The app automatically syncs with the customer list in your Merchant Center. It s ready for use right away. 3

4 Scan Your Barcode Using the phone s camera, align the Groupon s barcode within the box. The app will automatically scan the barcode. 4

5 Scan Your Barcode (Continued) After scanning the barcode, the app will return one of the following messages: Redeem, Used, Not Found, Error, or Expired. Redeem: If a green button at the bottom of the screen prompts you to Redeem the Groupon, and there is no other message, the Groupon is valid. Tip: Enter the full check amount to help track your ROI. Enter this amount by clicking on the Total Bill field in the middle of the screen. Remember that the app connects with your Merchant Center in real time, so you can easily track the average bill over the duration of your feature. This enables you to determine the total financial impact of your Groupon promotion. 5

6 Scan Your Barcode (Continued) Next, enter the tip and hit Done in the lower right-hand corner of the keypad. Be sure to hit the green Redeem button to finalize the redemption process. If it makes sense for your promotion to enter the overspend amount rather than the total bill, simply tap the Total Bill field, and a new screen with fields to enter overspend will appear. Follow the same steps outlined above and remember to hit the green Redeem button to finalize the redemption process. 6

7 Scan Your Barcode (Continued) Used: The Groupon has already been used. Politely inform the customer that the Groupon has already been used and to direct any questions about this issue to Groupon. Not Found: The scanned barcode is not an official Groupon voucher. Politely inform the consumer that the Groupon is not valid and to direct any questions about this issue to Groupon. 7

8 Scan Your Barcode (Continued) Error: The Groupon is most likely valid, but there are some issues with the network. Please try scanning the Groupon at a later time. If you continue to receive an error, we recommend you use your best judgment with that customer. Reach out to us afterward, and we ll work with you to make it right. Expired: Politely inform the customer that the Groupon is not valid for the promotional value. Any questions about expiration can be directed to Groupon. Note: At this point, customers might ask to use the Groupon for its paid value how much they paid to get the deal. We ve communicated to customers that they are able to do this. If you have any questions, please reach out to your Groupon representative. 8

9 Analytics To review the history of your Groupon deals, click on the Analytics icon in the lower left corner of the screen. On the next screen, you can click through to the deal whose statistics you would like to see. Here you ll see the statistics, including how many Groupons have been redeemed, how many were sold, the average bill, and the total spend across all Groupons for the deal. By clicking on History on the same screen, the app will pull up the most recently redeemed Groupons. You can review past Groupons that have been redeemed. For each Groupon, you can view and edit the total bill by clicking on the number. 9

10 Sign Out To log out of the app, click through to Settings in the lower right corner of the screen. You will see a log-out button in the top right corner of the Settings screen. Turn the page for a quick training exercise on using the app. The exercise will help you and your staff become comfortable with the process before the redemption period begins. 10

11 Mobile Merchant App Training Exercise We ve included three sample barcodes found on vouchers that will generate a common redemption scenario you may encounter while using the app. Use the Groupon Merchant app on your mobile device to redeem each one. Simply align the barcode within the box, and the app will automatically scan the code and show you a message. Give it a try! Scan the barcode below: New Voucher: This Groupon voucher is valid and ready to be marked as redeemed. The message you see should match the image on the left. See page 6 of the user guide for more information and detailed directions. Turn the page to try a couple more. 11
