Getting started with the OverDrive App for Smartphones & Tablets

1 Download the free OverDrive app To download the app for: iphone, ipod Touch, or ipad - Visit the itunes App Store. Android - Visit the Google Play Store. Kindle Fire - Visit the Amazon Store. a. Open the app store on your device b. Enter "OverDrive Media Console" in the search box. Tap Search on the keyboard. c. Tap +Open, +Install or +Free next to OMC from either the app details or search results screen.

2 Note: When you create an account on your device, it will automatically authorize your device so you can start reading ebooks right away. Sign up for an OverDrive Account Syncs your Adobe ID (more information to follow), bookmarks, and reading progress across multiple devices Automatically activates new devices for you when you sign in on each device. You can have up to six devices synced and authorized with your account Note: We recommend signing in with your username and password rather than Facebook. a. Tap on Sign Up b. Enter your name, address and password. c. If you already have an OverDrive account set up on another device, tap Sign In

3 Note: You must be signed in with your OverDrive account and have the same titles downloaded on each device to sync your progress and bookmarks. Sign In to your OverDrive Account When you first open the OverDrive Media Console app, you will need to set up an OverDrive Account Syncs your Adobe ID, bookmarks, and reading progress across multiple devices Note: You may also authorize the most up-to-date version of the OverDrive app (v3.5) with an Adobe ID, but we recommend using your OverDrive Account to authorize instead. d. Enter your address and password f. Tap Settings. Next, tap Authorize e. Tap Sign in

4 Add the Toledo Lucas County Public Library website to the app a. Open the OverDrive app. Tap Home Menu button. d. Tap on any of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library branches e. Tap on the star icon to add the Toledo Lucas County Public Library to your app b. Tap Add a library c. Tap into the search box. Type Toledo or a zip code and tap Search

5 Find the MP3 audiobook or EPUB ebook or video you want, Borrow, and Download Note: If you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to enter your library card number and PIN a. Tap on Advanced Search Browse or Search for something specific by tapping on Menu. b. We recommend tapping into the Title box or search by Author/Creator. You can also search by specific Format. c. Tap Search d. When you find a title you want, tap on the book cover. If an item is Available, you will tap on Borrow. You will need to Place a Hold if all copies are currently checked out.

6 f. Tap on Borrow. g. Tap on Download. Find the MP3 audiobook or EPUB ebook or video you want, Borrow, and Download f. Tap Borrow g. Tap on the down arrow to Select a Format.

7 Find the MP3 audiobook or EPUB ebook or video you want, Borrow, and Download h. Tap on Confirm & add to app i. Tap on Add to app

8 Find the MP3 audiobook or EPUB ebook or video you want, Borrow, and Download j. You will see the Title Added message k. Open the OverDrive app. Navigate to Bookshelf.

9 Find the MP3 audiobook or EPUB ebook or video you want, Borrow, and Download l. Tap on the cover of the title m. Tap the right side of the screen, or swipe the screen from right to left.

10 Return an audiobook, ebook, or video early Delete - deletes book but you will still have it checked out to your library account. Note: You can renew a borrowed title if no other users are on hold for that title. The renewal option becomes available on a user s Bookshelf three days before the title is scheduled to expire. Titles can only be renewed once. a. Open the OverDrive app. Navigate to Bookshelf. Tap/hold the book cover. b. Tap on Return. Note: Return - returns and deletes book from your device.
