New features and deployment options provide a rich e-business application deployment environment. The server manages and integrates enterprise-wide applications while leveraging open technologies and APIs. WebSphere Application Server is available with multiple configuration options. This enables support for a wide variety of scenarios, from simple administration of a single server to a clustered, highly available, high-volume environment with edge-of-network services all on a single-server foundation. Ideal for single-server environments, WebSphere Application Server, V5 is among the first production-ready application servers for the deployment of enterprise Web services solutions for dynamic e-business. WebSphere Application Server, V5 will support: Java Authentication & Authorization Services (JAAS) to authenticate new principals and manage privilege information for a principal Java 2 Security Model to secure system resources Java Secure Socket Extension (JSSE) to secure communication channels based on transport level security (TLS/SSL) Java Cryptographic Extension (JCE) Java Cryptographic Architecture (JCA) for Java cryptographic extensibility such as for PKI integration Common Secure Interoperability V2 (CSIv2) for interoperability between application servers Together, these implementations enable you to implement standards-based security capabilities within your enterprise applications. Tivoli Performance Viewer (formerly Resource Analyzer) allows you to optimize and tune your applications and operations. WebSphere Application Deployment provides additional functionality, including enhanced workload management and dynamic caching and performance management tools. This distributes workload across multiple servers through sophisticated load balancing and clustering capabilities. Integrated Tools Support: WebSphere Studio Application Developer is an integrated Java development environment, based on the Open Eclipse framework, to implement Java and Web Services applications. Server administration tools include Application Assembly Tool, Debugger, Online Trace, and Log Analyzer.
