2 Description The NetVista Thin Client Utilities are Windows NT-based utilities available on a single CD or via Web download, providing flash update and operations support. NetVista Thin Client Express Service Utility: NetVista Thin Client Express Service Utility supports client-initiated reflash without the need for a Thin Client Manager V2R1 server. The Thin Client Express Service Utility product provides: Source file with flash image Utility used for local flash update NetVista Thin Client Manager Operations Utility: NetVista Thin Client Manager Operations Utility supports remote reflash initiated from the server/desktop for V2R1 clients. Remote reflash of V2R1 Express clients requires the Service Utility. The Thin Client Manager Operations Utility offers the following: Copy and Replicate (of an existing client configuration) Wake on LAN Remote Reboot (initiated from the server/desktop) The Thin Client Manager Operations Utility can be used with R1 to manage V2R1 clients or Express clients. Year 2000 This V2R1 product is Year 2000 ready. When used in accordance with its associated documentation, it is capable of correctly processing, providing, and/or receiving date data within and between the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, provided that all products (for example, hardware, software, and firmware) used with the product properly exchange accurate date data with it. Product Positioning IBM has launched its new NetVista family of clients that span the spectrum from Internet appliance, through thin client, to desktop devices. Several of IBM s thin client offerings, formerly known as Network Station (hardware) and Network Station Manager (software), are now part of the NetVista family. New names reflect that alliance. The Network Stations Series 2200 and 2800 are now called NetVista N2200 and N2800. They are referred to as NetVista thin clients. Network Station Manager V2R1 is now known as R1, which consists of code that runs on the NetVista thin client and code that runs in a supported server environment (Windows NT, OS/400, and AIX). The Linux client for Network Station is now referred to as the NetVista Thin Client for Linux. R1 software can be ordered by contacting the IBM Americas Call Centers at Charge Structure: Charges for the V2R1 product kits are based on the number of NetVista thin clients using the V2R1 software. You must acquire one authorization for each NetVista thin client that uses the V2R1 server software, for example, connected to the server. The total number of NetVista Thin Clients connected may not exceed the number authorized by the applicable Proof Of Entitlement (PoE). If the total number exceeds the quantity authorized by PoE, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the International Program License Agreement (IPLA). No use authorization is required for the Thin Client Utilities programs 5648-D83 and 5648-D84. User authorizations and the PoE apply to both NetVista Thin Client Manager V2R1 Standard Encryption (5648-C07) and Thin Client Manager V2R1 Strong Encryption Support (5648-C08) kits. A single PoE authorizes an NetVista thin client to use both products (where they are both available).
