3 SEARCH - OVERVIEW Scenario: Search engine is probably the most highly used application in a library app.

4 SEARCH - OVERVIEW Our solution: Put the search bar in the index page and in the center of the page. The search result preview list provide more information than the current library search webpage

5 SEARCH INSTRUCTIONS Step1: Type the key words in the text fields. Step2: Click the proceed button to search for the relative books.

7 LIB VOICE - OVERVIEW Scenario1: A user wants to share his comments on a book he borrowed or on the library services. Scenario2: A user has a casual question to ask the library staff.

8 LIB VOICE - OVERVIEW The traditional way: Option1: The user go to the service desk to ask the staff. Or ask a friend directly. Option2: The user search on the library website to find some relative information or to fill a suggestion form. Option3: There is no way to share comments on the books.

9 LIB VOICE - OVERVIEW Our solution: The user can use the app to create a topic or post reviews. Other users and the librarians can then check the topics and replies. There are topics tagged by [book names]. These are where the book comments are located.

10 LIB VOICE - NEW TOPIC - INSTRUCTIONS Step1: Type your new topic title in the text field. Step2: Click the New Topic button. A new topic item will appear at the end of the list.

11 LIB VOICE - POST COMMENTS- INSTRUCTIONS Step1: Click an item. The thread page will be shown. Step2: Type your comments in the text field and then Click Send

12 BOOK GLANCE - OVERVIEW Scenario: A user has found an interesting book in the book store, but he does not know whether the book is available in the university library. If possible, he prefers to borrow one rather than buy one.

13 BOOK GLANCE - OVERVIEW The traditional way: The user perform a search on the library website with book name or author name. A website search require multiple steps and it is slow on a mobile phone s browser.

14 BOOK GLANCE - OVERVIEW Our solution: The user points his mobile phone camera towards the cover of a book, a search will automatically been performed. The UI operation is much faster and it involves less data transfer.

15 BOOK GLANCE - INSTRUCTIONS Step 1: Access the scanner from the Scan Book icon in Tools tab. Step 2: Points the camera towards a book cover.

17 BOOK GLANCE - INSTRUCTIONS Step 3: Upon successful scan, an overlay will be displayed on the screen. Step 4: Click the book image to access the book info page.

18 SHELF PIN - OVERVIEW Scenario: A user has found the book he want from the library s book search stand. The next step he is going to do is locating the book in the library.

19 SHELF PIN - OVERVIEW The traditional way: The user mark down the location code / bookshelf number on a small piece of paper. And then look for the location code / bookshelf number on the library s massive map.

20 SHELF PIN - OVERVIEW Our solution: Place the phone on the NFC tag emulator. The app will automatically started and display the information of the book the user has searched.

21 SHELF PIN - OVERVIEW Our solution (cont.): Place the phone on the NFC tag attached on the book shelf. The location will be marked on the library map. This helps user locate himself inside library and find the facilities in the library more easily.

23 SHELF PIN - INSTRUCTIONS Step 3: The book info page will be displayed. Step 4: You can either access forum by click Comment or locate the book by clicking Location

24 SHELF PIN - INSTRUCTIONS Step 5: On the way to the book, you can always tap the tag on the shelf to locate yourself in the library.

25 BEHIND THE SCENES The Augmented Reality technology is provided by Vuforia SDK from Qualcomm The map service framework is provided by Redpin Server and Redpin Android SDK

26 BEHIND THE SCENES The NFC technology is used in the map location module and book search service The web server is setup on AWS.
