1 E-Readers (Nook Simple Touch, and other simple e-readers) We recommend that you begin on a desktop/laptop computer and then transfer the ebook to your device using the USB cord. You can access the digital library by going to our website: and clicking on this button: Or you can directly to the digital library by going to: If you have not already done so you will need to download and install the Adobe Digital Editions software to read our ebooks on your computer. From the home page on our digital library site, click on Help and then Software to get to the download links for the software. All software downloads for our services are free. The Help page is also a great place to get more help with downloading ebooks and audio books if you find yourself stuck. You will also need an Adobe ID to use this software. After installation, Adobe Digital Editions should prompt you to create one. If it does not, you can visit and click on Adobe ID to create and account. Once more, this is a free service. 1

2 Below is the home page for our digital library. From this screen you can browse ebooks, audiobooks, music, and video. To search for a specific title or author, type your request into the search box at the top right hand side. Please note that you can tell at a glance if the title show is an ebook or and audiobook by the icons on the cover. Audiobooks will have a picture of a CD and headphones in the top right corner, while ebooks have a picture of an open book in the top right corner. 2

3 To see more information about a specific title, click on the cover image. Once you are looking at a specific title, the available formats are displayed on the right side of the screen. For e-readers, EPUB ebook, PDF ebook, Open EPUB ebook, and Open PDF ebook should be compatible with your device. If a title is available for checkout, the large orange button next to the cover will say Borrow. Click on Borrow to sign in and check out your title. If a title is not available, the orange button will say Place a Digital Hold. If you would like to join a waiting list for this title, click the orange button and enter the information it asks for. You will be notified by when you hold is available for checkout. 3

4 Once you click on Borrow, select your parish from the list. Enter your library card number and your PIN number. Then click on Sign In. Your title will be checked out to you for two weeks. At the end of your lending period, the title will automatically return itself. 4

5 You have now checked out an ebook. The next step is to download it to your computer. From the screen below, you can choose a format and download your title. If you do not already have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer, please click on the Get Software button on the lower right side of your screen and follow the directions it gives you for installation. This software is free. Please take care when selecting which format you wish to download. Kindle books will only work on Kindle devices and apps. For e-readers using Adobe Digital Editions to transfer, you may select EPUB ebooks, PDF ebooks, Open EPUB ebooks, and Open PDF ebooks. Once you have checked which format you want, click on Confirm & Download. When you open the file that downloads, it should automatically open your book in Adobe Digital Editions. 5

6 Once your book is in Adobe Digital Editions, click on the Library View to see all the titles you have downloaded. Also make sure that your e-reader is plugged into your computer via the USB cable. In the Library View, you should see the book covers of all the books in Adobe Digital Editions. On the left column of the program, you should see your device listed in the Devices column. To transfer a book to your device, click on the book cover you want to transfer and drag it the Devices column where your device is listed. A green plus sign should appear, then drop the cover over your devices name. When you unplug your device from the computer, your book should appear in one of the folders on your device. 6
