10 Downloading ereader Apps. Pick App Store Search Store: type in app name, e.g. Kindle click on the Kindle reader Select Kindle Free Install App Type in Apple ID Password will then install Go back to HOME and click on Kindle icon Go to Sign In and register with address & password If you have not already registered, you can complete registration with address, password and register credit card for purchases Repeat the process for other reading apps: Kobo, Nook, Sony If you do not have the ibooks app, also get it from the app store.

12 Purchasing ebooks on your ipad The reader apps (except ibooks) do not have access to the ebook stores Create app icons that are actually web links - Pick Safari internet browser and enter the internet website address or search for the ebook store desired - Sign in if you are not already signed in - Create the app icon by clicking the arrow out of the box to the left of the address, select add to home screen, then add For: Kindle Kobo Kobo free books Nook Sony

13 Reading books on your ipad Use the reader apps after ebooks are purchased - Kobo, Sony and Nook ebooks are downloaded to the device and are accessed in their libraries - Kindle purchased books appear in the cloud and are downloaded to the device when picked, but also remain in the cloud - Sort books by Title / Author / recent - Change Font / size / brightness with the Aa button - Access settings and account with the gear (tools) symbol

14 ibooks Purchasing and Reading ibooks displays a shelf of books obtained from the ibook store - Pick Store and Browse to display authors under Paid or Free - Pick an author to see his/her books - Pick search to search a title or author Library takes you back to the bookshelf with your new books - Pick Collections, then PDF s to view a shelf of PDF s In Mail find the with the PDF attachment that was sent from the computer - Pick the attachment, then the arrow out of the box, then ibooks - Return to ibooks and view the PDF on the PDF shelf

15 Using your public library Select Overdrive App on your ipad Select Get Books Add a Library Enter your library name, ie. Thunder Bay Public Library, and search, or browse all libraries to find your library Pick your library, then the Library loan service Search for books by title or author Add to cart if available (or place hold) proceed to checkout, enter library card number and pin, confirm checkout and download Book will remain on ipad under Overdrive until expiry (7 or 14 days) To return book before expiry, pick edit then the red circle, Delete, and Return then delete
