3 The Evidence-Based Advantage technology software technical support Summer 2015 Release Notes The ability to integrate and synchronize multiple biomechanical assessment technologies under the umbrella of a singular software has always been a challenge. myoresearch 3 (MR3) is a biomechanical analysis software solution designed to improve the research and diagnostics workflow by giving users access to real time data, accurate biofeedback, and extensive automated reporting and analysis capabilities. It gives researchers the ability to support, automate and synchronize multiple biomechanical assessment technologies, while significantly reducing set up and processing time. MR3 is built on a modular platform that offers users the flexibility to work with a single technology or a fully equipped biomechanical technology suite. It automatically synchronizes all data recording and processing of EMG, video, 3D (IMU) kinematics, multiple pressure and gait systems, and any other (3rd party) device that streams an analog signal. MR3 s complete biomechanical analysis software solution guarantees simplification and improvement of your workflow. 4 Software Platform Updates SOFTWARE PLATFORM QUICK ANALYSIS REPORT A configurable analysis report. This report allows an easy and quick access to basic analysis parameters of a user selected interval in the record across almost any data stream. Page 4
5 Software Platform Updates BATCH SIGNAL PROCESSING Stored signal processing configurations can be applied to multiple records selected in the Database menu. This saves user processing time by allowing them to signal process numerous files all at once. BATCH IMPORT AND EPORT Templates can be saved and applied to a list of files enabling batch import/export of data. BIPOLAR BIOFEEDBACK BARS Bipolar measurement signals can be fed to the Biofeedback feature where both the negative and the positive signal magnitude will be shown. This feature is available for EMG and for myomotion. Page 5
6 Software Platform Updates INTEGRATION OF NEW DTS BIOSENSOR - CARDIORESPIRATORY Extremely versatile cardiorespiratory multi-sensor that measures ECG, breathing waveform and skin temperature. Each sensor provides six data channels that include: ECG waveform, heart rate, R-R interval, breathing waveform, breathe rate and the local skin temperature. INTEGRATION OF NEW DTS EOG SENSOR - ELECTROOCULOGRAPHY Noraxon s newest sensor measures local effects of the cornea-retinal potential allowing for noninvasive eye movement and illumination analysis. Easily worn by all persons, including children, this sensor does not limit your field of view and can be used with eyes closed. Up / Down Left / Right Page 6
7 Software Platform Updates MULTI-ACTIVITY WITH SCREEN COMMANDS Customizable test sequences can be created with selectable amount of repetitions and durations. On screen visual and audio commands guide the subject through a sequence of movements. Two Predefined example sequences are included, one for Incontinence and one for Low Back Pain. Page 7
8 myomotion Updates myomotion BIOMECHANICAL REVIEW OF LOWER BODY AND TRUNK ANGLE CALCULATIONS Upgraded lower body and trunk angle algorithms using the most reasonable Cardan angle based rotation sequences guided by ISB recommendations. Calculations have been optimized and fully documented. The upgraded anatomical angle definitions minimize the appearance of gimbal lock and offer more precise calculation of co-angles. 3D KNEE ANGLES Ad/Abduction and rotation angles for the knee joint are now available. VIEWER TOOLS New Viewer tools have been added to allow for: Rotation Translation Zoom Out Zoom In Fit View Front View Right View Left View Back View Show All Bones Trajectories Page 8
9 myomotion Updates MAGNETIC DISTORTION WARNER During calibration, a new algorithm detects if too high a magnetic distortion is present If this is the case, then the IMU sensor affected is displayed in red on the avatar. This greatly helps to optimize the calibration procedure and can be used to find a clean spot free of magnetic interference to perform a calibration. INDIVIDUAL BONE LENGTHS - ANTHROPOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS Individual bone lengths are used to configure the avatar. They can be automatically estimated based on the body height or there is an option to enter them manually. These values enable a more realistic animation of the avatar and provide for better translation math when using the double-integration calculation. Page 9
10 myomotion Updates TRANSLATIONAL ANIMATION A first version of translation animation has been added as a display option. It is designed to be used during gait activities such as walking. Running is not supported at this time. SELECTABLE ACCELERATION DATA - EARTH OR SENSOR BASED The linear acceleration data can now be presented in earth (reference frame) orientation or sensor (reference frame) orientation; with earth being the default. Data is stored in sensor based but can be viewed either way. Acceleration analysis can now be optimized to a given task. Page 10
11 myomotion Updates SINGLE SENSOR CUSTOM ANGLE CALCULATIONS This new feature allows for one sensor to measure rotation and position independently of all other sensors. Users can select a clipping free (no gimbal lock) primary motion axis related to the sensor s, Y and Z axis. This is useful for tasks such as 3D inclination sensing and measuring total angle changes of a single object. CUSTOM ANGLE CALCULATIONS - 2 SENSORS Similar to the single sensor angle calculation this feature allows one sensor to be paired to another for total angle change in all three axis. The data output shows the difference between the two sensors according to their own coordinate system, Y and Z axis. Therefore if the two sensors move identically the output is zero. EPORT OF QUATERNION DATA The quaternion data is now included when data is exported. This allows for alternative rotation sequences and angle conventions to be used. RAW DATA MODE Raw accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer data can now be collected, analyzed and exported. Researchers who want the most accurate raw data to process themselves, now have full access. Page 11

13 myomotion Updates TRAJECTORIES MODE SHOW ALL BONES MODE This new mode adds non-measured segments to the avatar animation. For some animation tasks it is better to show a whole skeleton and not cut away missing extremities. Page 13
14 myopressure Updates myopressure ONE-TO-ONE PRINT A new reporting option to print a single or averaged pressure map in actual foot size. The digital data or paper print can be used to fit insoles and address other foot deformity interventions. FLOOR PLATE INTEGRATION (ZEBRIS) All Zebris pressure distribution force plates and the associated analysis capabilities are fully supported and can be used for roll over, gait and stance analysis. The integration of pressure floor plates allows one to analyze the natural gait of subjects and can also help to detect gait events for difficult gait patterns like shuffling, typically seen in neurological patients. 15 myopressure Updates SINGLE STEP ROLL-OVER ANALYSIS For the small pressure plate, alternating left/right fool roll-over analysis can now be performed. This allows for multiple steps to be analyzed within one patient record as well as being able to generate a bi-lateral gait report. Page 15
16 myopressure Updates INTEGRATION OF NEW WIRELESS PRESSURE INSOLE SYSTEM The new Medilogic WLAN direct transmission pressure insole system is fully integrated. It is the only wireless system of its kind that transmits data at 400 Hz. The need for a transmitter or synchronization device at the subject s belt is eliminated, as well as the removal of any cabling that could affect gait and running activities. RECORD CENTER OF PRESSURE (COP) AND OTHER IMPROVED DISPLAY OPTIONS New visualization tools for COP, gait line and single cell pressure data are now available. The real time visualization and animation helps to better understand characteristics around pressure distribution performance. CENTER OF PRESSURE (COP) CONTINUOUS VIEW Continuous COP gait line display, for our pressure instrumented treadmills, visualizes the total COP during stance and swing phases. COP transitioning between steps is visualized and functions as a COG plumb line. Page 16
17 myopressure Updates CENTER OF PRESSURE (COP) INDIVIDUAL VIEW The COP gait line for individiual steps allows for a faster summary of the entire step COP. COP lines are compiled in the report as both an average and individual value. SWAP LEFT AND RIGHT STEPS Manual designation of left and rights steps. This feature allows the user to edit which side is the first step in case the recording is initiated with the contralateral step on the left or the right. Page 17
18 myopressure Updates SHOW/HIDE MAIMUM PRESSURE PLOTS (MPP) Maximum Pressure Plot displays the maximum pressure value for each contact point in an entire step. This allows for a faster visual analysis of the entire step. MPP steps are compiled in the report while they are individually available in viewer. HIDDEN: SHOWN: Page 18
19 myopressure Updates 2D AND 3D VIEWING MODES Pressure displays freely rotate with the mouse but can also be viewed in 2D or 3D. This allows for easier viewing and realtime display of distributions in a more targeted manner. 2D: 3D: Page 19
20 myopressure Updates ZONE SEPERATIONS - 3, 7 OR 10 Zone seperations are based on the active area and are mathmatically divided to assist in understanding the impact speicifc locations, impact ordering and gait line characteristics. ZONE SEPERATIONS - GROUND REACTION FORCE CURVES The ground reaction forces can be separated into multiple zones as well. These can be represented as a color coded picture, a plot of force curves or a zone timing table of selectable parameters with bars representing each parameter value. Page 20
21 myopressure Updates ZONE SEPERATIONS - SETTINGS FOR THE PRESSURE ZONES Parameter options are: Max force, Start, End, Duration, Peak time, and Impulse percent. The zone separation allows for a deeper analysis of dynamic aspects as well as timing related properties of forces. Force related impact order and gait line characteristics can be better visualized and analyzed. ZONE SEPERATIONS - TIMING TABLE Based on zone separated calculations a new timing table for the foot role dynamics is supported. Start times, End times, Durations, Peak time, and Impulses, important for understanding the timing for specified events, the order of events in gait and the magnitudes of pressure and loading involved all based on 100% of the stance phase. 25 myovideo Updates myovideo FORCE VECTOR VIDEO OVERLAY (FVO) A new video analysis tool can overlay the force vector created by 3D force plates over the subject seen in the video. The force vector analysis is a very helpful and important visualization tool for ground reaction forces acting around joints of the lower body segments. FORCE VECTOR VIDEO OVERLAY (FVO) WITH TRACING Tracing can be turned on for real-time biofeedback or to get a better understanding of what is happening over time with the ground reaction forces and their impact on the joints. 26 myovideo Updates myovideo FORCE VECTOR VIDEO OVERLAY (FVO) WITH 3D Coupling the force vector with 3D orientation or anatomical angle data provides the ultimate insight into what is happening in the lower body segments and the impact that ground reaction forces have on the body. AUDIO RECORDING (SYNCHRONIZED) Sound recorded from cameras with built in microphones or an industrial microphone connected via USB can be syncronously recorded to video and other measurement signals. Sound events, sound characteristics or music can be integrated into the multi-device recording setups. IMPROVED DRAWING AND LABEL TOOLS Video analysis has an enhanced and simplified tool for labeling with text or drawing arrows. Arrows and text can easily and directly be modified the video. Page 26
