2 B5.EMV.01 EMV Cable Transit, Modular System Why to install edificial screening and EMV cable transits? Buildings, parts thereof and rooms where computers or highly sensitive electronic equipment - like transmitters and control systems, communication technology or medical diagnostic devices - are in operation, are shielded from electromagnetic interfering fields by electrical conductive foils or metal grids. These magnetic fields result either from sudden electromagnetic impulses (EMP), caused by lightnings (LEMP), nuclear explosions (NEMP), switching operations in overhead lines and transformer stations, etc. Or, electronic devices produce magnetic fields by themselves which could influence other instruments, if not sufficiently shielded. Especially through the cable shield such impulses are transmitted. Therefore, even the best edificial screening has no effect if cable transits into the building or cable penetrations within are not properly shielded. Basic frame SB, Quick Fix TCME (Tolerance Cable Module EMV) and Filler Blocks FBE The modular bst system SB/EMV offers the perfect protection from unwanted electromagnetic impulses at outdoor-to-indoor transits and cable penetrations. Pre-manufactured bst frames of type SB (see also page 4) are concrete-cast into building apertures, bricked-in or mounted on-wall and then they are electrically conductive connected to the building screen. Upon installation of cables they are sealed by Quick Fix TCME ( Tolerance Cable Modules EMV adaptable to the cable diameter) made from elastic rubber. Wedge K-10/EMV compresses the bst EMV Modular System so that beside the fire protection also gas- and ness are achieved. Modules carry an insert of copper tips, which provides the conductive connection between cable shield and frame. 3 B5.IM.01 Set QUICK-FIX TOLERANCE CABLE MODULE TCME Technology for EMV Cable Transits Quick Fix TCME (Tolerance Cable Modules EMV) made from elastic, highly fire-resistant and halogen free elastomeric material (bst-hfe) are supplied in sets with adapters and cores to be adapted to the respective cable diameter. 4 B5.IM.0 bst EMV Modules in pairs IME and Multi Insert Modules true to size bst EMV modules in pairs (Insert Module IME) with fixed diameters suitable for the respective cable ( true to size ) are used for the fire-resistant, gas- and sealing of cable penetrations. They are made from highly, halogen free elastomeric rubber (bst HFE) and can be used as an alternative to Quick-Fix TCME. Especially recommended for frames with full cable load and cable diameters in same size (e.g. computer cables). EMV modules in pairs are compatible with Quick-Fix TCME and can be interchanged or used in combination optionally. Contact tips and foils made of copper form the conductive connection between cable shield and frame. Module lenght 60mm. 6 B5.RR.01 Plug Seal RRE for buildings or steel constructions The modular bst system RR/EMV grants perfect protection against unwanted electromagnetic impulses at outdoor-to-indoor transits and cable penetrations. Pre-manufactured bst Plug Seals of type RR/EMV made from elastic, highly fire-resistant, halogen free elastomeric material (bst HFE) are installed into already existent wall pipes or into pipe sleeves welded to steel constructions. Inserts from copper tips form a conductive connection between the modules TCM/EMV or FB/EMV and the duct (edificial screening). By tightening the bolts on fittings system parts are compressed. Modules TCM/EMV (Tolerance Cable Module) can be adapted to the cable diameter by adapters included in the set. Cores within modules TCM/EMV or filler blocks FB/EMV fill the reserve space for later cable installations. 7 B5.RR.0 Plug Seal RRE for wall pipes or steel constructions Design Pre-manufactured plug seals made from an elastic, highly fire-resistant, halogen free elastomeric material (bst HFE) with steel fittings, galvanized or high-grade steel, material (AISI 316Ti) are the basic frame for inserting the modules. Bolts (optionally also with Nyloc nuts) and fittings made of steel, galvanized or high-grade, compress the system. Contact strips of copper enable a conductive connection between cable shield, modules and the building screen. Combined with Quick Fix TCM/EMV and filler blocks FB/EMV the system offers the perfect sealing against fire, gasand waterpressure and the shielding effect at the same time. 8 B5.AC.0 QUICK-FIX TOLERANCE CABLE MODULE Assembly instruction -TCME in frame type SB Remove cable insulation in length of 10-15mm up to the screen (within frame area). Clean the frame and grease it with bst Contact Paste. Determine the suitable EMV module and grease it with paste. Put the EMV module in and insert cable so that copper part of module touches cable screen. Insert upper half of TCME module and put in anchor plate. Suitable TCME module to be determined also by TCM Ruler. If TCM Ruler indicates grey adapter, remove the black one and use the grey (if red use basic module without adapter). Put in TCME module as before, press cable screen onto the copper part and complete module row. Insert anchor plate and assemble remaining EMV modules acc. to filling plan. Insert fix anchor in time (row before last) and pre-press modules by the bst Power Squeezer (use compression plate). Tighten fix anchor by hex-wrench and remove power squeezer.
