3 Glass fibre-optic conductors The glass fibre-optic conductors are used in conjunction with 3RG70 23 Opto-BERO sensors. Main advantages: Small dimensions Wide range of types Wide range of fibres and sensor heads Detects the smallest parts Depending upon the type involved, glass fibre-optic conductors consist of 200 to 000 individual fibres with a diameter of 30 to 0 mm. The bundle of fibres is surrounded by a sheath which can be selected according to the application: Wound sheath of chrome-plated brass; Silicone sheath with stainless steel braiding for strain relief for use in corrosive media and under mechanical stresses. The sensor heads are available with light outlet at the front or side. The range includes glass fibre optics for operation as thru-beam sensors (with separate bundles of fibres for the transmitter and receiver) and for use as diffuse sensors (the bundles of fibres for the transmitter and receiver are located in a common sleeve).
