1 For students who CAN use Lyft If you have a smartphone, active US Phone number* and a Credit or Debit Card (can be any major credit card company) then read this guide. *You can activate and use the SIM card that was sent out to you with your I-20/DS-2019 to create a temporary working U.S. phone number for this purpose. STEP 1: Get Lyft before arrival at BNA for your own ease. How to get Lyft 1. Download and Install the free Lyft app on your smartphone. *The app is free from both the AppleStore and PlayStore 2. Open the Lyft app and start the signup process. *Before you begin, be sure you have the following: i. Valid U.S. Phone number ii. Valid Address a. Type into your device the U.S. phone number. b. You will then receive a verification code on your phone. Enter that code.
2 c. Type in your name, address. d. Agree to terms of service 3. Enter a credit/debit card code in the payment screen. a. Tap the human icon on the top left. b. Tap payment c. Tap to add a credit card card must be from a major banking company. d. Fill in your information e. Save the information STEP 2: Complete the Pre-Arrival Form If you have not already, make sure to complete the ISSS Pre-Arrival Form located on the ISSS website here: 1. Compete the Pre-Arrival Form online. (Make sure flight plans and all information is COMPLETE. We will not respond to forms that are incomplete). If you would like to confirm your form submission, isss@vanderbilt.edu
3 2. Once you have submitted the complete pre-arrival form, ISSS will respond within 48 hours with a UNIQUE, Lyft Code which can be used toward your ride from the airport. (See Step 3). NOTE: All Lyft Promo codes are unique for each individual. You cannot share or reuse codes Codes are ONLY VALID for 1 ride per account and only from the Nashville Airport to your intended destination (campus or off-campus residence) on the day you have requested. You must complete the pre-arrival form PRIOR to arrival to receive the Lyft PROMO code. STEP 3: Use the provided Lyft Code How to enter promo code? 1. Tap the human icon on the top left. 2. Tap payment 3. Scroll to the bottom, then enter the code provided to you in the Add credit code box You can now request a ride: 1. Set your pickup location Make sure that your pickup point (it's a small blue circle) is placed at your current location (All current location must be from the Nashville BNA airport). Is it off? You can drag the pickup point to the exact location or tap the address in the white box above the Set Pickup button to manually input an address or location instead. 2. Set Drop off Location
4 Tap 'Set destination' to confirm where you re going. Add the address of your destination here. 3. Tap Request Lyft to request a ride. 4. Relevant information will appear on the screen. STEP 4: Go to the pick-up location 1. Go to level one of the Airport by using the escalator or elevator. 2. Follow the signs guiding you to the Ground Transportation Level (Level 1). 3. Look for the Ridesharing signs (That s where the driver will arrive). 4. Once you ve arrived the area wait for your driver to come. 5. Look out for the number and car model, before you sit in the car please make sure to confirm the name with the driver. STEP 5: During the Lyft Ride
5 1. The Lyft driver will take you to your intended residence from the Nashville airport. 2. The LYFT PROMO will only cover up to $30 of your ride. 3. If your destination costs more than the $30, you (the student) are responsible for paying the difference. The reminder will be charged to the credit card you used to sign up for Lyft. STEP 6: Calling Information (Emergency only) 1. If for some reason you are unable to call a Lyft then call on one of the following numbers: GRACE CHEE Primary number: (615) Secondary number: (864) ISSS OFFICE Primary Number: (615) Grace or ISSS will call a Lyft for you. *Because you have no phone to track the driver, you are responsible for identifying the driver upon arrival. Make sure that you have the following information from ISSS Staff before hanging up the phone: a. Car Color b. Car Model c. Driver s name d. Expected time of pickup
