3 GCA Industry-Standard Teephone User s Guide Introduction :.:i This manua serves as a hepfu guide for using a the functions of your new teephone and as a quick reference guide. You may have your teephone programmed to provide an intercom dia tone when you ift the handset. This arrangement is known as prime intercom. You may, however, have your teephone programmed to provide outside ine dia tone instead. This arrangement is known as prime ine automatic or ide ine preference. Uness otherwise noted, the foowing instructions are for teephones with prime intercom, which means that you can dia system feature codes as soon as you ift the handset. If your teephone has a different arrangement, you must obtain intercom dia tone before you can dia the various feature codes. To do this, press and reease the hookswitch after you hear the outside ine dia tone. This action paces the outside ine on hod and causes intercom dia tone to return to your teephone. Fashing The Hookswitch Pressing and reeasing the hookswitch is commony known as fashing the hookswitch or performing a FLASH. If your teephone has a TAP button, we recommend that you press TAP instead of fashing the hookswitch, since you can inadvertenty disconnect the ine by pressing and reeasing the hookswitch... E I. If your system has the interna fash feature enabed, you can obtain intercom dia tone whie on an outside ine by fashing the hookswitch. However, to generate a hookfash signa on the outside ine, you must fash for intercom and dia +K 08. With the interna fash feature disabed, you can fash the hookswitch whie on an outside ine to generate a fash on an outside ine. However, you cannot fash the hookswitch to obtain intercom dia tone.
