Physical setup of iconnect360 controller This is a user guide on how to physically set up the hardware consisting of the iconnect360 controller, RFID reader(s), and the local area network (LAN) to a turnstile. IMPORTANT Please engage a security engineer or certified electrician to set up the iconnect360 controller to the various devices. Before you begin, make sure you have the required items at your site. Note: The following items are required for the setup of one turnstile only. If you are using more than one turnstile, the steps may vary slightly. 1 turnstile 1 electrical power cable with loose wire end * 1 RJ45 network cable * 1 iconnect360 controller 1 or 2 RFID readers Note: If you are using the turnstile for one-way traffic (e.g. entering the site), then you only need 1 reader. *The length of the cable depends on the distance between the controller and the electrical power outlet / the network router at your site. Alternatively you can use an extension cord. power cable turnstile network cable iconnect360 controller RFID reader Physical setup of iconnect360 controller Page 1 of 17 Last updated 27 December 2013
A. Connect the power cable to the controller What you need: iconnect360 controller the electrical power cable with loose wire end STEP 1: Take the wired end of the electrical power cable and insert it through the hole nearest to the power box in the controller. STEP 2: Connect the power cable to the mini connectors of the power box. Physical setup of iconnect360 controller Page 2 of 17 Last updated 27 December 2013
Notes You will need a screwdriver to loosen and then tighten the screws again to secure the wires firmly to the mini connectors. You may need to cut the cable or wire insulator to obtain longer wire length. You can connect any of the wires to any of the connectors. The colour of the wires does not matter in this connection. This is how the connected power cable looks like. Ensure the wires are secured firmly to the connectors. Physical setup of iconnect360 controller Page 3 of 17 Last updated 27 December 2013
STEP 3: Plug the power cable to the electrical outlet at your site. Caution! If the electrical outlet doesn t have a switch, DO NOT perform step 3 until you have finished connecting all the other devices to the controller. Note: Prior to this setup, check that the AC power source is working at the desired electrical outlet. You can do so by plugging a known working electronic device, e.g. your mobile phone, into the electrical outlet. Physical setup of iconnect360 controller Page 4 of 17 Last updated 27 December 2013

B. Connect the network cable to the controller What you need: iconnect360 controller the RJ45 network cable STEP 1: Take one end of the network cable and insert it through the hole nearest to the network port in the controller. You may need to punch a hole in the controller box. STEP 2: Connect the network cable to the network port. Physical setup of iconnect360 controller Page 6 of 17 Last updated 27 December 2013
STEP 3: Take the other end of the network cable and connect it to the network port of your router. Reminder! DO NOT connect the network cable to the network port of your computer. Note: Prior to this, check that the network port on the router is working properly. You can do so by connecting your laptop to the port with the RJ45 network cable. Make sure you disabled the wireless connection on the laptop. If your laptop has internet connection via the cable, then the network port is working fine. Once the network cable is connected to the router (which is switched on) and the power to the iconnect360 controller is also switched on (part A), the LED next to the network cable will light up. 9 C. Connect the RFID reader to the controller What you need: iconnect360 controller the RFID reader(s) RFID reader We strongly recommend: HID iclass R10 (see picture below) or a generic RFID Mifare Reader Note: If you are using two RFID readers for entry and exit, ensure that they are the same brand and model. IMPORTANT! Do not attach the RFID reader to a metal base which would interfere with the scanning capabilities. STEP 1: Identify the terminal block labelled as Reader to which the RFID reader will be connected. In the case of missing label, check the diagram attached to the controller box. The position for the required RFID reader is labelled as IN READER. Physical setup of iconnect360 controller Page 9 of 17 Last updated 27 December 2013
STEP 2: Take the wired end of a RFID reader and insert it through the hole nearest to the Reader terminal block. You may need to punch another hole in the controller box. STEP 3: Remove the Reader terminal block from the mainboard. To do so, push the upper part of the terminal block outwards and away from the mainboard. Physical setup of iconnect360 controller Page 10 of 17 Last updated 27 December 2013
STEP 4: Identify the correct coloured wires that are to be connected for the entry access. a. Check the colour coded details of the RFID reader. Most hardware manufacturers provide the details in their own documentation and/or label them in the reader itself. For our recommended RFID reader, the HID iclass R10, you can see the label at the back of the reader. b. Check the controller s wiring diagram noting the connection for the IN READER. You can find the diagram at the bottom cover lid of the controller box. c. Match the correct wires to the corresponding connector of the terminal block. Example Purpose HID iclass R10 Wiring Diagram of the controller Electrical voltage +VDC (RED) Red wire +12V RED Ground GND (BLK) Black wire 0V BLACK Data DATA1 (WHT) White wire D1 WHITE DATA0 (GRN) Green wire D0 GREEN Physical setup of iconnect360 controller Page 11 of 17 Last updated 27 December 2013
STEP 5: Connect the correct colour coded wires of the RFID reader to the correct connectors of the terminal block. This first RFID reader will be known as the IN READER to denote that it s for entry access. Note: You will need a screwdriver to loosen and then tighten the screws again to secure the wires to the terminal block. Based on the same example, the coloured wires to be connected to the terminal block, in order from right to left, are red, black, white and green. PLEASE TAKE NOTE! If you only require the RFID reader to control the entry access, then jump to step 9. If you need to connect a second RFID reader to control the exit, then continue with step 6. STEP 6: Take the wired end of the second RFID reader and insert it through the same hole nearest to the Reader terminal block. This second RFID reader will be known as the OUT READER to denote that it s for exit access. STEP 7: Identify the correct coloured wires that are to be connected for the exit access. a. Check the colour coded details of the RFID reader. b. Check the controller s wiring diagram noting the connection for the OUT READER. c. Match the correct wires to the corresponding connector of the terminal block. Physical setup of iconnect360 controller Page 12 of 17 Last updated 27 December 2013
STEP 8: Connect the correct colour coded wires of the second RFID reader to the correct connectors of the terminal block. Based on the same example, this is how the setup looks like. Notice that the black and red wires of the first and second RFID readers are connected to the same hole whereas the green and white wires of the readers are connected to different holes. STEP 9: Connect the terminal block back to the mainboard in the controller. This is how a single connected RFID reader for entry access looks like.
