2 Thank you and congratulations for the purchase of the L322 VeNICE Bluetooth module! We are urged to remind you that any modification to the electric and electronic systems of your vehicle may invalidate any warranty and/or be illegal in your country. The vehicle owner is responsible for any intentional modification of his/her vehicle, including any consequence related to such modification, including damage/fire/loss of property. If you are at all uncomfortable or inexperienced working on these projects (especially but not limited to electronics and mechanical), please reconsider doing the job yourself. 3 Before you begin VeNICE 2002 and VeNICE 2002-PRO modules have been designed to fit 2002 to 2005 Range Rovers based on BMW electronics. If your centre console does have a touchscreen, then unfortunately it will NOT be compatible with the kit. BMW IBUS: compatible system Touchscreen NOT compatible Also, please check that the CD player or changer in your Range Rover is installed and correctly working.

4 Step 1: Locate the BM54 radio in the electronics compartment in the back of your Range Rover. This is the typical A/V compartment you will find in your L322 Range Rover Vogue with DSP audio system. HSE models may not have the DSP installed, but the BM54 radio will be in the same place under the bottom storage housing. VeNICE 2002 is compatible with all 2002/2005 systems, since it plugs on top of the BM54 radio module. Although the BT kit can be installed also now, we recommend to gather better access to the radio module by removing the bottom storage housing.

5 Step 2: Gather access to the radio module In order to access the radio module, part of the boot trim has to be removed. In order, you shall remove: - Boot floor (pulls out easily) - Left shoulder trim (one screw and two plastic clips) - Bottom left trim (pulls out easily) - Bottom floor storage housing (two hex nuts) Once all these parts have been removed, the area will look like this.

6 Step 2: Gather access to the radio module Once the interior trim and plastic floor cover have been removed, the radio module will be easily accessible.

7 Step 3: Identify and remove the BM54 radio plug The radio plug can be removed by lifting its lever on the back and gently pulling it. You will notice three different connection areas: white, black and blue. We are interested in the WHITE one.

8 If you are installing a VeNICE 2002 kit, proceed to Step 4. If you are installing a VeNICE 2002-PRO kit, proceed to Step 9.

9 Step 4: Remove the white plug from connector assembly While pressing the retaining clip, gently pull the white plug from the connector assembly.

10 Step 5: Plug back the connectors and the Bluetooth module in the shown order Original cable back in Insert WHITE Plug here Supply cables (see next) Front of the vehicle 1) Plug back the original wiring connector on the radio, without the white plug inserted; 2) Plug the Bluetooth module in the place where the white connector previously was. The black connector on the module shall firmly mate with the pins of the radio; please orient the module, so that the Bluetooth antenna is facing the front of the vehicle! 3) Plug the white connector on top of the Bluetooth module, oriented as it was before on the radio; 4) You will be left with two flying cables (see next page). Connector Radio The Bluetooth module should be firmly plugged in the radio. Please double-check the correct insertion of the plug into the radio pins (a flashlight may help looking into the connector once inserted).

11 Step 5b: Pay attention to the cables Make sure that NO CABLE is running behind the Bluetooth module, i.e. between the Bluetooth board and the radio mounting frame! The wires from the black connector may be routed to pass in front of the Bluetooth module, but the back must remain free. The back of the board may get (slightly) warm during operation; avoid any cable contact on the back is preferable.

12 Step 6: Connect power ground clip The radio grounding screw is a very good point to connect our Bluetooth module power ground clip (the black cable with the round terminal). Follow the steps: 1. Undo the hex nut 2. Place on the screw: 1. Star washer #1 2. Cable terminal 3. Star washer #2 3. Put back the hex nut and tighten it Note: if the screw appears to be too short, delete the Star washer #1.

13 Step 7: Connect power supply wire The power supply is taken from the radio module using a tapping branch connector. The correct vehicle wire is PURPLE/WHITE. Black connector White connector (now BT module) Note: the supply is actually taken from the KEY-ON signal that reaches all the A/V equipment, so that the Bluetooth module is only powered when the key is turned on. As soon as the key is turned to the OFF position, the Bluetooth module will turn itself off, avoiding any potential battery drain issue. Radio connector as seen from the TOP. You should find the purple/white wire connecting to the pin highlited by the arrow, and tap to it using the supplied branch connector.

14 Step 8: Final check! The kit is now installed and should look like this. An adhesive clip and a zip tie are included in the kit, so the board can be held stable on the radio frame. The adhesive clip can be placed behind the white connector for improved stability and resistance to vibration. Follow the steps backwards to close the electronics compartment.

15 Step 9: Connect the VeNICE 2002-PRO plug Connect the plug of the VeNICE 2002-PRO kit to the BM54 module. Make sure it is firmly in place by pushing the locking plug lever.

16 Step 9: Connect the VeNICE 2002-PRO electronics box Connect the blue box to the small black connector. The connector is rugged and takes some force to be fully inserted. When the insertion is complete, one should hear a CLICK! In case the connector needs to be removed, the small clip on the top of the connector needs to be pressed in order to release it.

17 Step 10: Connect the vehicle harness plug Connect the original vehicle harness plug to the remaining end of the connector. Make sure the plug is firmly inserted and secured by the retaining clip, which fits as on the original BM54 radio. The kit is now installed! Make sure the wiring is adequately routed and tucked in the electronics compartment bay. The blue box can sit on top of the BM54 radio.

18 Step 7: First test! The hardware setup of the Bluetooth module is now complete! Make sure that every cable is routed correctly, avoid mechanical stress on the wiring. Then: 1. Turn the key to the ON position (I or II) 2. Turn on the radio 3. Select the CD input, you should hear the CD playing normally 4. Turn on your phone s Bluetooth 1. Look for the device named Range Rover BT 2. Pair with the device, PIN is 0322 (what else? ) 5. Once pairing is completed, you should stop hearing the CD, the stereo is active but silent 6. Make sure that Range Rover BT is configured as audio streaming device on your phone (usually this configuration is automatic) 7. Play your favourite music (e.g.: MP3, Spotify or Youtube) and enjoy your new Bluetooth stream! For optimal audio quality, we recommend setting the phone Bluetooth module to the maximum, and then regulating the volume with the vehicle knob. Once you disconnect your phone (e.g.: turning off Bluetooth), the CD will play normally again.

19 Compatibility note: Some iphone users experienced loss of volume under various circumstances. To restore the volume, the modules have been equipped with a Volume Up button. If you experience loss of volume, just connect your phone to the kit, play a song and keep pressing the button until the volume completely restores; a chime should be heard at the end of the procedure.
