5 440K Tongue Operated Interlock Switches These devices are designed for use on sliding, hinged and liftoff guard doors and offer electrical interlocking of the machines control circuit to the guard door. Operation of these devices require physical contact from the actuator and allows immediate opening of the guard door. 440H Hinge Operated Interlock Switches These devices are designed for use on hinged guard doors and offer electrical interlocking of the machines control circuit to the guard door. Operation of these devices require the guards hinge to be physically connected to the unit and allows immediate opening of the hinged guard door. 440P Safety Limit Switches These devices are designed for use on applications such as sliding guard doors, moving machine beds etc. They offer electrical interlocking of control circuits to the movement of the units actuator. Operation of these devices require physical contact from the moving part of the machinery to the units actuator. These units are ideal for applications requiring sensing at either side of a sliding guard door. 4

6 R 440N Non Contact Interlock Switches These devices are designed for use on sliding, hinged and liftoff guard doors and offer electrical interlocking of the machines control circuit to the guard door. Operation of these devices is magnetic requiring no physical contact from the actuator and allows immediate opening of the guard door. Coded and non coded units are available for increased security and control units are required for some systems. These units are ideal where hygiene is paramount or where ingress may cause operating problems. Interlock Switches Tongue Operated Interlock Switches 6 440G Guard Locking Interlock Switches These devices are designed for use on sliding, hinged and liftoff guard doors and offer electrical interlocking of the machines control circuit to the guard door. Operation of these devices require physical contact from the actuator and only allows opening of the guard door after a signal has been given to the device. These units are ideal for applications that require the guard door to remain locked closed until potential hazards have stopped and a safe condition exists. 7 440K R Features Elf miniature tongue operated interlock switch Tongue Operated Interlock Switches These devices comprise two separate elements. A switch body and an actuator tongue. When the tongue enters the switch body it engages a mechanism which closes or opens internal electrical contacts. The mechanism is designed to prevent easy bypassing or cheating of the switch. The switch and actuator require reasonably accurate alignment and should not be subjected to constant highamplitude vibration. Given that these conditions are fulfiled, tongue-operated interlock switches provide highly reliable operation with a good choice of contact configurations and ratings. Turning of the actuating shaft closes or opens internal electrical contacts. Various lengths and types of actuator shaft are available. The hinge configuration must be suitable for connection to the actuator shaft. The degree of hinge rotation required to open the internal contacts should not allow a large gap at the opening edge of large guards. An interlinked sensor surface weaves two capacitive sensors in offset planes for superior product sensitivity. The 800Z touch buttons are ergonomically designed to require for ease of operation. No force is required to operate the switch; simply touching the surface of the switch will initiate an output. The 800Z can detect the hand though most industrial gloves. The contour of the 800Z touch buttons serves two purposes; it easily conforms to the shape of the hand while helping prevent defeatability when two-hand control is needed. Two bi-coloured diagnostic LEDs provide guidance during operation. The power/fault LED blinks at different rates to provide diagnostic information to the user.
