The storage is obtained as needed from the extended common storage area (ECSA) or from FDBR private storage, if FPBUFF=LOCAL (which is the default) is specified in the DFSFDRxx IMS.PROCLIB member. You might have to adjust the ECSA or region due to your requirements. If you do not specify a value for DBBF, IMS uses a default of 10 buffers. If you specify a value for DBBF, IMS overrides the default with your value and you must adjust for any change in DBFX specification. The maximum number of fastpath buffers differs based upon the buffer size (BSIZ) as follows: BSIZ (buffer size) maximum number of buffers 512 4,000,000 1,024 2,000,000 2,048 1,000,000 4, ,000 8, ,000 12, ,000 16, ,000 20, ,000 24,576 87,000 28,672 74,000 GC : Release Planning Guide Chapter 15. Fast Path serviceability and usability enhancements Impact to installing and defining IMS: IMS Version 10 increases the number of IMS Fast Path normal buffers (excluding shared VSO or Fast Path utility private buffers) that are available for an IMS subsystem beyond 65,535. The new maximum value depends upon the buffer size. For additional information on the maximum DBBF value see the write up on DBBF in the system Definition manual.
