1 Use of the logo in design and print.

2 A corporate identity programme is aimed at presenting the organisation and its constituent parts in a clear and coherent way consistency to the various groups of people with whom it deals. The most significant way in which this can be done is by making everything around an organisation its products, literature, buildings consistent in purpose and where appropriate, in appearance too. Consistency must not be confused with uniformity. It is obvious that different publications must answer different briefs and appeal to different audiences. This does not mean that they can be produced using an array of typefaces and colours. It does mean that within the constraints of the corporate typefaces and colours, a flexible approach can mean a consistent product. An organisation s products can appear to have a similar visual identity, but do not have to be exactly the same as those the audience has seen before from a different department, or arm of the organisation. Be creative, but remember the basics. corporate typefaces corporate colours consistency of approach, within a flexible grid

3 How to use the CIEH logo A B C These sheets have been produced to help anyone who uses the CIEH logos. The three versions shown here are the definitive logos. Copies of the logo are available in EPS and Tiff format for PCs and Macs. don t abuse it Following a few basic guidelines will help to maintain a consistent and coherent visual image for CIEH. Always try and use corporate colours or black. Never add borders or other appendages to the logo. Never vary the components relative to one another. use of colours 281 blue for crest and rule A Pantone or process colour logo The standard colours of the logo are: Pantone 391 (green) ( colour process equivalent = 100%Y 11%C 28%K) 391 green for type only pantone 281 or black B Pantone 281 (blue) ( colour process equivalent = 1oo%C 72%M 38%K) Mono logo (use when corporate colours are not available) When printing in mono try and use pantone 281 blue only. If the standard colour blue is not available for a print job, then use black or the darkest available colour. NEVER use two completely different colours if none of the corporate colours is available. white out of darkest colour C Mono logo (use when corporate colours are not available) When using one or two colours for a print job you may sometimes wish to reverse the logo out of a solid. Always reverse the logo out of the darkest available colour in white only. NEVER use any other colour on a reversed out logo.

4 typefaces associated with the logo When typesetting associated short lines of text to appear close to the logo, where possible use a sans serif typeface, such as Syntax Black. If Syntax Black is not available use Futura heavy (or Arial bold on PCs). Conferences & Exhibitions typefaces to use when designing reports and leaflets a guide headings 24pt Syntax Black*, set solid, print in pantone 391 * If the typeface is not available, use a sans serif typeface such as Futura heavy, in preference to a serif typeface. Headings or bold text text 10pt Scala sans*, +5pt interline spacing, black or pantone 281 (blue) * If the typeface Scala is not available, use a serifed typeface such as, Garamond, in preference to a sans serif typeface. The CIEH communicates on many levels, to its own staff, to its suppliers, to its customers, to its competitors, to the public at large. The communication process covers everything from advertising and promotion to computer printouts and invoices. What you say is as important as how you say it. Both are equally significant in conveying attitudes and impressions to everyone with whom you deal. The success of your reworked logo depends on how you use it. To reinforce the CIEH s image, a coherent look to all your publications is essential. While it is realised that each publication or artefact has slightly different target audiences and uses, the basics can still apply. Always try and use the corporate typefaces Syntax and Scala. Always try and use corporate colours, or at the very least dark blue.

9 A guide for CIEH Registered Trainers on the use of the CIEH crest logo The CIEH crest Registered centres can obtain a bromide version of the CIEH crest logo for printing and design purposes. This is as per the design shown below. CIEH Accredited training centre Use of the CIEH crest Registered centres are permitted to use the CIEH crest (shown above) on their letter headed paper and on Internet web pages, but only provided that they follow certain criteria.these criteria are as follows... The crest must be displayed in the style and size as per the bromide and as shown above which clearly shows the centre as being an accredited training centre only. In addition, the crest should be displayed in a manner that is not dominant. Registered training centres are allowed to use the crest on their headed notepaper only on one of the four corners. For the time being, registered training centres may only display the crest inthis way. It is not permitted on any other promotional or marketing literature produced by trainers. The CIEH logo is a regostreed trade mark. Any use of the CIEH crest other than on letterhead paper and as detailed in this documnet is an infringement of copywrite. Joint certificates showing your logo and the CIEH crest Registered centres can obtain candidate certificates which feature their logo as well as the CIEH crest. These certificates are based upon a specific layput developed by the CIEH and approved its Council. As such, we are unable to accomodate individual company s requirements. However, joint logo certificates are an effective way of promoting your organisationa d its commitment to food safety train ing and have so have been used by many gloabl brands to good effect.
