1 Stetson Model Flyers Club How to use the new Stetson website gallery A new web page has been added to the Stetson Model Flyers Club website to allow members to post images and movies 1 to share with the club and the world. Please bear in mind this is a new system and as such, will need to be tweaked as we go along so please report any issues to your webmaster (Goose) via (gallery_admin@stetsonflyers.com) Thanks So let s get going! 2 Register You will need to register your user account in order to use the system. Point your web browser 2 to or choose Gallery from the sidebar menu on the club s main website page. Click the Registration link in the Registered Users box at the top left Stetson Model Flyers Club Page 2

4 Enter a username you wish to use, a password and your address in the registration boxes. Enter the Verification Code as you see it on the screen. Note: 1. The code is not case sensitive so simply enter the letters in lower case i.e. in the example above the code is PBsBC. You would enter pbsbc and it will work. 2. The code can sometimes be hard to recognize, if it fails simply enter the new code as it appears. Click the Submit button. You will receive a confirmation message like this: 2010 Stetson Model Flyers Club Page 4

5 Your administrator will activate your account and send confirmation to the address you specified earlier. Log on Once you have received your confirmation that your account is active, go back to the Stetson Gallery page in your web browser and logon by entering your username and password and clicking the Log in button. Menu Items There are three main menu items under the Registered Users box on the left side of the page: Lightbox is a tool to manage an album of images of your choosing. Control Panel is where you can manage your user account including your address, password etc. Log Out will log you out of the Stetson Gallery. There is also a Home link at the top of this box to navigate back to the main page from any category Stetson Model Flyers Club Page 5

6 Categories There are several self explanatory categories for your images on the main page. Click the name and you will go to all the images in that category. Clicking on a thumbnail image will display the full size image. As a registered user, you may rate the image on a scale of 1 to 5, see all the details of the image and post a comment for all to see. Adding your images Now it s time to add your own images. This is not a complex process and you will get better and quicker as you use it more. Note: 1. From the home page, select a category for your image. 2. Click the Upload button in the top right corner of the page. 3. Click the Browse button next to Upload in the Image File category and find the file on your computer you wish to upload. You may also browse to your images that are already on the internet by using the URL box. The maximum file sizes are 2MB, 1024 pixels wide and 1024 pixels high. You may need to edit your pictures to get them down to these sizes using your favorite editing software You can ignore the Thumbnail File boxes unless you want a different thumbnail image from your main image. This system will automatically create thumbnails for you. 5. Enter a name for your image. 6. Enter a description for your image. Whilst this is not mandatory, it does make your images more interesting if there is information to go with them. It also makes it easier for people to find when doing image searches. 7. Enter key words for searching. You may enter any words separated by a space. Keep the key words relevant and short. 8. Enter the verification code as you see it on screen. Details for this are the same as before (see Registration above) 9. Click the Submit button to upload your image. Note: You will not see your image appear in the category until the administrator verifies the image. This check is put in place to ensure inappropriate images are not uploaded and available to children or the general public. New users and images will be validated on a regular basis so you will not have to wait long for either Stetson Model Flyers Club Page 6

7 Managing your images You may manage your images by using one of several methods. From the open image you will see additional options at the bottom including Edit & Delete. Edit will allow you to change the image name, the description and/or the keywords. Delete will allow you to delete your image. Another method is to add your image to your Lightbox. Lightbox is similar to a photo album that contains images you have selected for your album. You cannot edit or delete images in your Lightbox that do not belong to you, but may view, rate and comment on them. You can edit or delete images in your Lightbox that you own. Movies have not been tested yet, your results may vary. 2. Differing web browsers have not been tested other than IE v8, your results may vary. 3. Photo editing software may be needed to shrink your images down to within limits.
