1 Manassas City Public Schools Employee Self-Service (ESS) Tutorial 8700 Centreville Road, Suite 400 Manassas, VA

2 What s available in ESS? You can view your: Current home address and telephone number(s) address Payroll direct deposit information and advices What you can do: Print your direct deposit paystubs Use the payroll simulator tool to see how deductions/withholding changes affect your pay Leave balances (Note that leave balances are one pay period behind) Current Federal (W-4) and State (VA-4) tax withholding information

3 How to log into ESS 1. Go to Manassas City Public Schools home page: Select the Staff tab 2. Click on the Employee Self Service link to open Employee Self Service page 3. Click on Log In in the upper right hand corner of page

4 How to log into ESS User Name Your user name is the first initial of your LAST name followed by the first initial of your FIRST name and your MCPS Employee ID Number. Example: Mr. Osbourn Eagle, ID #12345, SSN His Login User Name is EO12345 His Password is 6789 Your Password Your first-time Login Password is the LAST FOUR (4) digits of your Social Security Number Click on the Log In button to proceed 1 2 3

5 Tips for setting your password Before proceeding further, you are required to change your password (see screenshot on right) Reminder, your Current Password is the last four digits of your Social Security Number Your New Password must meet the specified requirements: 8 characters long Contain at least 1 numeric character Contain at least 1 non-alphanumeric character (example:! or + or $ ) Contain at least 1 uppercase and 1 lowercase character Once your password meets the requirements, the Password Strength field will change from Unacceptable to Acceptable Type your new password in the Confirm New Password field Fill in the New Password Hint field this is a required field Click on the Change button to save your new password

6 Forgot your password? If you forget your password: 1. 1 Select the Forgot your password? link on the log in page Enter your user name and click Retrieve hint button. An message will be sent with your hint. If you forget your Employee ID number: 1 Please contact your School or Department s Time and Attendance Processor. 2

7 Locked out of the system? If you receive the message, This account has been locked. Please contact an administrator. : Click Forgot your password? Enter your username and click on the Retrieve hint button An message will be sent to your MCPS address. Click on the link included in the to access Password Regeneration. Click on the Submit button to generate a new, temporary password. An message will be sent to your MCPS address. On the Login page of ESS, enter your username and the temporary password included in the . You will be required to choose a permanent password. Refer to page 5 of this guide for Tips for setting your password.

9 Accessing the menu Once you have logged in, click on Employee Self Service to access your menu items and personal employee information

Click on Resources for valuable information, links, and forms Click on Benefits to view current year elections Click on Pay/Tax Information to view past paychecks and W-2 forms Your Address Your phone number Click on Time Off to view leave detail Click Details to view pay details. Click the camera icon to view an image of your pay stub. Your leave information View your leave balances in this section Use the Paycheck simulator to project your net pay if your salary, deductions or tax withholdings change

11 How to access resources ESS contains valuable human resources and payroll-related forms and documentation Click on Resources in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Click on the title of the form or document you would like to access.

12 How to log out of ESS Please remember to always log out of the ESS system when not in use. Click on your name in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Your Address Your phone number Click on Log Out. Your leave information
