1 Application: Campus Solutions Audience: Student Records Objective: In this job aid, you will learn how to Define course transfer equivalency rules for external organizations or internal academic institutions. For each transfer equivalency rule, attach component subject areas that you have defined for the source in the Transfer Subject Area (TRNSFR_SUBJ_AREA) component. You can define multiple course transfer equivalency rules for a single source. For example, you might define multiple rules to account for academic program and academic plan differences in equivalency rules. The effective date functionality enables you to add and delete component subject areas that are no longer valid for the equivalency rule. When adding a new transfer equivalency rule, you must also specify the credit source type of either external organization or internal academic institution. The credit source type instructs the system from which table you will select your source ID. By selecting external organization, the system prompts you with the source IDs of external organizations in your system. By selecting institution, the system prompts you with source IDs of academic institutions in your system. Before you Begin: To sign in to Campus Solutions, go to sis.illinoisstate.edu. Once there, click the Please click here to PeopleSoft logon page link. Then, you will be prompted to log in with your ULID and password. Once you log in, the options on your screen will depend on your security access. If you are unable to log in, contact the Technology Support Center (TSC) at (309)438-HELP(4357), supportcenter@illinoisstate.edu, or ITHelp.IllinoisState.edu. 1

2 1. To access the Course Transfer Rules page, click Main Menu. Then, click Records and Enrollment. Next, click Transfer Credit Rules. Finally, click Course Transfer Rules. 2

3 2. On the Course Transfer Rules page, click the Add a New Value tab. 3

4 3. Confirm that the Academic Institution is ILSTU. Click the Credit Source Type dropdown menu and select a value. External Organization: The system prompts you with the source IDs of external organizations in your system. Institution: The system prompts you with source IDs of academic institutions in your system. Enter a Source ID or click the Look Up button to select a value from the list. Enter an Equivalency Rule. This field is free form. Click the Add button. 4

5 4. NOTE: When you add a new Effective Date to the Course Transfer Rule table, you may also want to add a new Effective Date in the Program/Source Equivalency to make sure the Articulation Process picks up this new rule. 5

6 5. Enter the Description of the course transfer rule. Click the Transfer Subject Area Look Up button to select a value. 6

7 6. The search results will display values depending on the Credit Source Type and Source ID selected. Select a value. 7

8 7. To add additional rows, click the + button within the Transfer Subject Area section of the page. 8

9 8. When finished adding rows, click the Save button. To return to the Navigation Menu page, click the Home link at the upper right of the screen. 9
