The um consists of a base, a motor stool and a um head. The chamber stack and the outer sleeve are secured between the um head and the base by means of staybolts. The base has suction and discharge orts on the same level (in-line). The motor stool houses the um-motor couling. The um is equied with a maintenance-free mechanical shaft seal of the cartridge tye. The um consists of a base and a um head. The um body and the outer sleeve are fixed between the base and the um head by means of claming lates. The direction of rotation is oosite to that of the other ums, and the um body is uside-down, thus giving the oosite direction of flow of liquid. The base, the um head cover as well as vital um comonents are made from stainless steel. The base has in-line suction and discharge orts. 12 General Data Pumed Liquids Thin, non-exlosive liquids, not containing solid articles or fibres. The liquid must not attack the um materials chemically. When uming liquids with a density and/or viscosity higher than that of water, motors with corresondingly higher oututs must be used, if required. Whether a um is suitable for a articular liquid deends on a number of factors of which the most imortant are chloride content, value, temerature and content of solvents, oils etc. Please note that aggressive liquids (e.g. sea water) may destroy the oxide film which rotects the stainless steel and thus cause corrosion. CR, CRN For liquid transfer, circulation and ressure boosting of cold or hot clean water. CRN In systems where all arts in contact with the liquid must be made of stainless steel, CRN ums must be used. Motor The motor is a totally enclosed, fan-cooled, -ole Grundfos standard motor with rincial dimensions in accordance with the IEC and DIN standards. Electrical tolerances according to IEC 3/EN 3. Single-hase motors have a built-in thermal overload switch. Three-hase motors must be connected to a motor starter in accordance with local regulations. 16 Dimensioning Vertical Multistage Centrifugal Pums Selection of CR, CRN Pum Pum Size Selection of um size should be based on: consumtion attern, highest ossible flow and ressure (eak values), economy. As a rule of thumb ies should be dimensioned in such a way that the velocity of the liquid does not exceed 1 to 1.5 m/sec Q [m³/h] TM Efficiency If the um is always to oerate in the same duty oint, select a um where this duty oint coincides with the highest efficiency. 17 Dimensioning Vertical Multistage Centrifugal Pums Material The material variant (CR/CRN) is to be selected on the basis of the liquid to be umed. The roduct range covers two basic tyes. CR is suitable for clean, non-aggressive liquids such as otable water, oils, etc. CRN is suitable for clean, slightly aggressive liquids such as salt water, acids, etc. (see list of umed liquids age ). Shaft Seal The shaft seal is to be selected on the basis of liquid temerature and max. ressure. For other liquids than water, the chemical resistance of the materials - incl. seal face, seat and rubber comonents of the shaft seal - must be taken into account. Parallel Oeration It may be an advantage to install a number of ums connected in arallel instead of one big um. Among the advantages are for instance: adatation to the required duty oint in systems with varying flow rofile, increased reliability of suly as only art of the system caacity is affected in case of um failure. Miscellaneous In case of liquid viscosity and relative density different from that of water, motor size and um erformance must be taken into account.
