1 Replacing GIA 1 (GIA 63W) on Citation CJ Garmin G1000 Software Version -02 Caution: Caution: Caution: Caution: Before starting the software or configuration loading process, certain items may be required to be recorded first, to prevent loss of information or settings. See Section 1 for details. Make certain that all SD cards are available before starting. These are usually located in a blue pouch onboard the aircraft. Follow all steps in a given section for specific loadings. Failure to do so will result in probable rework. Ensure that power is available through a GPU so that power is not interrupted during the loading process. Note: This document is to supplement, not replace, the Cessna Citation 525 MM, and Garmin G1000 SMM. 2 Section 1 Determining Options Installed Note: This is with the G1000 powered up in normal mode, with avionics power on. Record which options are installed for later reference. o Garmin TAS/TCAS1 This applies to the Garmin GTS 820 or GTS 850. Turn the large FMS knob to select the AUX Page Group on the MFD. Turn the small FMS knob to select the SYSTEM STATUS Page. Push the FMS knob to activate the cursor. Scroll through the LRU list and see if the GTS 820 or GTS 850 is displayed. If so then this is the correct option. o Non Garmin TAS/TCAS1 This applies to the Honeywell KTA 870 or the L-3 Skywatch SKY497/SKY899. Turn the large FMS knob to select the AUX Page Group on the MFD. Turn the small FMS knob to select the SYSTEM STATUS Page. Push the FMS knob to activate the cursor. Scroll through the LRU list and see if the GTS 820 or GTS 850 is displayed. If it is not displayed, then: o Push the FMS knob to deactivate the cursor. o Turn the large FMS knob to select the MAP Page Group on the MFD. o Turn the small FMS knob to select the TRAFFIC Page. o TIS will have a softkey labeled indicating TNA MUTE ON or TNA MUTE OFF. If you do not see one of these labels, then this is the correct option. (If no option is selected, TIS is the default). o TAWS A Turn the large FMS knob to select the MAP Page Group on the MFD. Turn the small FMS knob to select the TAWS Page. The top of the page will show MAP TAWS-A o TAWS A Voice Callout Same as for TAWS A o Radar Altimeter Turn the large FMS knob to select the AUX Page Group on the MFD. Turn the small FMS knob to select the SYSTEM STATUS Page. There is a softkey that is selectable on the MFD that is labeled RA TEST. 2
3 o Stormscope Turn the large FMS knob to select the MAP Page Group on the MFD. Turn the small FMS knob to select the STORMSCOPE Page. The top of the page will show MAP STORMSCOPE o DME #1 Press the PFD softkey on PFD1. There will be a selectable softkey labeled DME 1. o DME #2 Press the PFD softkey on PFD1. There will be a selectable softkey labeled DME 2. Note: There cannot be DME 2 and ADF 2 installed at the same time. o GDL 59 Turn the large FMS knob to select the AUX Page Group on the MFD. Turn the small FMS knob to select the AUX - TELEPHONE Page. The page will only be available if the option is installed. o ADF #1 There will be a KR 87 ADF control head. o ADF #2 There will be a second KR 87 ADF control head. Note: There cannot be DME 2 and ADF 2 installed at the same time. o HF There will be a separate control head for the HF. Make sure that COM 3 is selectable on both audio panels. o ChartView Turn the large FMS knob to select the AUX Page Group on the MFD. Turn the small FMS knob to select the SYSTEM STATUS Page. Press the MFD1 DB softkey and use the FMS knob to scroll down to the CHART database information. Make sure that the chart listed is Jeppesen ChartView. o SVT Press the PFD softkey on PFD1. Press the SYN VIS softkey. Then verify that PATHWAY SYN TERR, HRZN HDG, and APT SIGNS are displayed above the softkeys. 3
4 Section 2 Software and Configuration Loading This section will provide the steps necessary to target load the software and configuration into GIA 1 after replacement. Note: Anytime that software or configurations are being loaded, all three displays must be in configuration mode. GIA 63W GIA 1 (Integrated Avionics Computer) When GIA 1 is replaced, then software and configuration loading is required. 1) Pull the following circuit breakers: PFD 1 PRIMARY (Right side, second row up, front of row) PFD 2 PRIMARY (Right side, first row up, front of row) MFD (Right side, third row up, 4 th from front) PFD 1 SECONDARY (Right side, second row up, 5 th from front) 2) Insert the software loader card into the upper slot of PFD 1. 3) Turn on battery and avionics power. 4) Press and hold the #12 softkey on the PFD 2, push the PFD 2 PRIMARY circuit breaker in. Let go when you see initializing. PFD 2 should come up in configuration mode. SYSTEM STATUS should show at the top of the screen. 5) Press and hold the #12 softkey on the MFD, push the MFD circuit breaker in. Let go when you see initializing. MFD should come up in configuration mode. SYSTEM STATUS should show at the top of the screen. 6) Press and hold the #12 softkey on the PFD 1, push the PFD 1 PRIMARY circuit breaker, and the PFD 1 SECONDARY circuit breaker in. 4
5 Let go when you see initializing. Press the NO softkey at DO YOU WANT TO UPDATE SYSTEM FILES? prompt. PFD 1 should come up in configuration mode. SYSTEM STATUS should show at the top of the screen. 7) On PFD 1, go to the System Upload page using the small FMS knob on the PFD. 8) Activate the cursor by pushing down on the FMS knob. 9) Rotate the small knob to drop the menu down, and highlight Model 525 Base Configuration in the GROUP field. 10) Press the ENT key. 11) Rotate the small knob to drop the menu down, and highlight Cessna Model 525 Citation Jet Base Configuration in the ITEM field. 12) Press the ENT key. 13) Press the CLR ALL softkey at the bottom of the display. 14) Using the FMS knob, highlight the following, press the ENT key for each, which will place a check mark in each box: GIA 1 Software GIA 1 Configuration GIA Audio Software GPS 1 Software Calibration Configuration Audio Configuration GIA Gains Software 1 16) Acknowledge when Upload Complete is displayed by pressing the ENT key. 17) Push the UPDT CFG softkey to update the system configuration files. 18) Select YES, and press the ENT key. 19) Acknowledge when Update Config Complete is displayed by pressing the ENT key. 5
6 Section 3 Reinstalling Options This section will provide the steps necessary to reload the options that were originally installed. CAUTION: Only load the options determined to be installed in Section 1. Garmin TAS/TCAS1 option configuration: GTS 8XX TAS/TCAS1 in the ITEM field. Airframe Configuration System Configuration Manifest Configuration GTS Software GTS Configuration Non Garmin TAS/TCAS1 option configuration: Non-Garmin TAS/TCAS1 in the ITEM field. GIA 2 Configuration 6
7 TAWS A option configuration: TAWS-A Support in the ITEM field. Alerts Configuration TAWS A Voice Callout option configuration: TAWS-A Voice Callout Enable in the ITEM field. Airframe Configuration Radar Altimeter option configuration: KRA-405B Radio Alt in the ITEM field. GIA 1 Configuration 7
8 Stormscope option configuration: WX-500 Stormscope in the ITEM field. GIA 2 Configuration DME #1 option configuration: KN 63 DME #1 in the ITEM field. 10 ADF #2 option configuration: KR 87 ADF #2 in the ITEM field. GIA 2 Configuration GMA 1 Configuration GMA 2 Configuration HF option configuration: KHF 950 / 1050 HF in the ITEM field. GMA 1 Configuration GMA 2 Configuration TAWS B enable configuration: Note: Do not load TAWS B, if TAWS-A is to be enabled (in the next section). 1) Pull the PFD 1 PRIM and PFD 1 SEC circuit breakers. 2) Remove the software loader card from the upper slot of PFD 1. 3) Locate and insert the TAWS Unlock Card into the top card slot of PFD 1. 10
11 4) Press and hold the #12 softkey on PFD 1. 5) Push PFD 1 PRIM and PFD 1 SEC circuit breakers in to power on PFD 1. 6) Release the softkey after the INITIALIZING SYSTEM message appears. 7) Use the small FMS knob to go to the SYSTEM UPLOAD page on PFD 1. 8) Push the FMS knob to activate the cursor. 9) Use the small FMS knob to select CONFIGURATION FILES in the AIRFRAME list and push the ENT softkey 10) Use the large FMS knob to move the cursor to the ITEM box. 11) Use the small FMS knob to select the ENABLE TAWS option and push the ENT softkey. NOTE: When the option is selected, the configuration files in the PRODUCT field will be displayed. 12) Press the CHK ALL softkey to select all files. 13) Press the LOAD softkey at the bottom of the display. 14) Monitor the status of the software upload. 15) Acknowledge when Upload Complete is displayed by pressing the ENT key. 16) Pull the PFD 1 PRIM and PFD 1 SEC circuit breakers. 17) Remove the TAWS Unlock Card from the display. NOTE: Once the TAWS unlock card is used to unlock the TAWS on one aircraft, it cannot be used to unlock the TAWS on another aircraft. 18) Place the TAWS Unlock Card back in the blue pouch. TAWS A enable configuration: 1) Locate and insert the TAWS-A Unlock Card into the top card slot of PFD 1. 2) Press and hold the #12 softkey on PFD 1. 3) Push PFD 1 PRIM and PFD 1 SEC circuit breakers in to power on PFD 1. 4) Release the softkey after the INITIALIZING SYSTEM message appears. 5) Use the small FMS knob to go to the SYSTEM UPLOAD page on PFD 1. 6) Push the FMS knob to activate the cursor. 7) Use the small FMS knob to select CONFIGURATION FILES in the AIRFRAME list and push the ENT softkey 8) Use the large FMS knob to move the cursor to the ITEM box. 9) Use the small FMS knob to select the ENABLE TAWS-A option and push the ENT softkey. 11
12 NOTE: When the option is selected, the configuration files in the PRODUCT field will be displayed. 10) Press the CHK ALL softkey to select all files. 11) Press the LOAD softkey at the bottom of the display. 12) Monitor the status of the software upload. 13) Acknowledge when Upload Complete is displayed by pressing the ENT key. 14) Pull the PFD 1 PRIM and PFD 1 SEC circuit breakers. 15) Remove the TAWS-A Unlock Card from the display. NOTE: Once the TAWS-A unlock card is used to unlock the TAWS-A on one aircraft, it cannot be used to unlock the TAWS-A on another aircraft. 16) Place the TAWS-A Unlock Card back in the blue pouch. Jeppesen ChartView option configuration: 1) Locate and insert the ChartView Unlock Card into the top card slot of PFD 1. 2) Press and hold the #12 softkey on PFD 1. 3) Push PFD 1 PRIM and PFD 1 SEC circuit breakers in to power on PFD 1. 4) Release the softkey after the INITIALIZING SYSTEM message appears. 5) Use the FMS knob to go to the SYSTEM UPLOAD page on PFD 1. 6) Push the FMS knob to activate the cursor. 7) Use the small FMS knob to select CONFIGURATION FILES in the AIRFRAME list and push the ENT key 8) Use the large FMS knob to move the cursor to the ITEM box. 9) Use the small FMS knob to select the ENABLE ChartView option and push the ENT softkey. NOTE: When the option is selected, the configuration files in the PRODUCT field will be displayed. 10) Press the CHK ALL softkey to select all files. 11) Press the LOAD softkey at the bottom of the display. 12) Monitor the status of the software upload. 13) Acknowledge when Upload Complete is displayed by pressing the ENT key. 14) Pull the PFD 1 PRIM and PFD 1 SEC circuit breakers. 15) Remove the ChartView Unlock Card from PFD 1. NOTE: Once the ChartView unlock card is used to unlock the ChartView on one aircraft, it cannot be used to unlock the ChartView on another aircraft. 12
13 16) Place the ChartView Unlock Card back in the blue pouch. SVT option configuration: 1) Locate and insert the SVT (SVS) Unlock Data Card into the top slot of PFD 1. 2) Press and hold the #12 softkey on PFD 1. 3) Push PFD 1 PRIM and PFD 1 SEC circuit breakers in to power on PFD 1. 4) Release the softkey after the INITIALIZING SYSTEM message appears. 5) Use the small FMS knob to go to the SYSTEM UPLOAD page on PFD 1. 6) Push the FMS knob to activate the cursor. 7) Use the small FMS knob to select CONFIGURATION FILES in the AIRFRAME list and press the ENT softkey. 8) Use the large FMS knob to move the cursor to the ITEM box. 9) Use the small FMS knob to select the SVS ENABLE option and push the ENT softkey. NOTE: When the option is selected, the configuration files in the PRODUCT field will be displayed. 10) Press the CHK ALL softkey to select all files. 11) Press the LOAD softkey at the bottom of the display. 12) Monitor the status of the software upload. 13) Acknowledge when Upload Complete is displayed by pressing the ENT key. 14) Pull the PFD 1 PRIM and PFD 1 SEC circuit breakers. 15) Remove the SVT (SVS) Unlock Data Card from PFD 1. NOTE: Once the SVT unlock card is used to unlock the SVT on one aircraft, it cannot be used to unlock the SVT on another aircraft. 16) Place the SVT (SVS) Unlock Card back in the blue pouch. 13
14 Section 4 Testing For testing, complete section in the Garmin G1000 SMM. Section 5 Troubleshooting This section will provide corrective actions for issues seen after the software is loaded. Substitute LRU name for ***. *** DB Error or *** DB Mismatch o Ensure that the supplemental SD cards are installed in the lower slots of the displays. o Databases do not match. o Verify which database is not the same, and reload as necessary. *** Manifest Error o Software does not match what the system is expecting. o Check work performed and reload necessary software again. *** Config o Configurations do not match what the system is expecting. o Check work performed and reload necessary configurations again. 14
