1 CIRRUS SR2X Service Bulletin Number: Issued: Revised: March 23, 2012 SNS SUBJECT: INTEGRATED MODULAR AVIONICS - Perspective S/W Update v COMPLIANCE Optional: Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin is at the owners option. This Service Bulletin has been updated to correct Data Link Options applicability in the Installed Options table. 2. EFFECTIVITY SR20 Serials 1907, 2016 & subs w/ Perspective Avionics s/w v and prior. SR22 Serials 2979, 2992, 3002, 3026 & subs w/ Perspective Avionics s/w v and prior. SR22T Serials 0001 & subs w/ Perspective Avionics s/w v and prior. 3. APPROVAL FAA approval has been obtained on all technical data in this Service Bulletin that affects type design. Aircraft not operating under FAA requirements and regulatory oversight: It is the operator's responsibility to ensure that installation of this Service Bulletin has been accepted by the local airworthiness authorities. 4. PURPOSE For affected aircraft, this Service Bulletin provides instructions for the Perspective Integrated Avionics System software update. 5. DESCRIPTION This Service Bulletin describes installation of Perspective Integrated Avionics System software update v This incorporates the following incremental enhancements for aircraft upgraded from v or later: A. v Software Change Synopsis (1) General (a) Supports FIKI configurations without TKS flow sensor. (2) Moving Map / MFD / FMS (a) Changed TFR effective times to be referenced to the pilot selected time format on the SYSTEM SETUP page. (b) Changed labeling of GPS geometric altitudes that are relative to sea level to 'GSL'. (c) Pilot selected units (e.g. distance units) are now used in the map cursor information bar. (d) Numerous improvements to legends, zoom ranging, selection order and the display of weather information and weather products on pages that provide weather data. (e) XM Lightning or Stormscope lightning can be overlaid on NEXRAD imagery. (f) The TERRAIN PROXIMITY page now displays aviation data by default. (g) Corrected FMS knob processing to allow XPDR code entry via a GDU FMS knob and window focus time-out bug. (h) Corrected NEXRAD display bug for NEXRAD stations that are out-of-service. Page 1

2 (i) Corrected TFR boundary display bug. (j) Corrected XM PIREP temperature decode bug. (3) CAS (a) The number of keystrokes required to acknowledge advisory alerts has been reduced. (b) Included CAS WARNINGS for level segments of automatic Hypoxia descent profile. (4) EIS (a) Improved target fuel flow calculation for cold weather operations. (b) Increased MAX digital readout of Percent Power to 140%. (5) TAS (a) Corrected intermittent FPGA fault bug. B. v Software Change Synopsis v was not approved for installation. C. v Software Change Synopsis v was approved for installation on specific ASNs only. D. v Software Change Synopsis (1) General (a) Provided support for GDL 90 UAT Transceiver. (b) Provided support for GSR 56 Iridium Satellite Voice and Datalink. (c) Provided support for GMA 350 audio panel. (2) CAS (a) Included 30 second CAS message inhibit on power-up. (3) Moving Map / MFD / FMS (a) Fixed out-of-service NEXRAD site bug. (b) Fixed XM icing product display bug. (c) METAR display update including parsing logic update to correctly convert the altimeter field from HPA to inches of mercury. (4) PFD (a) Fixed ADC / AHRS reset bug. (b) Provided support for a dual HSI bearing pointer display option. E. v Software Change Synopsis (1) General (a) Includes new startup splash screen image. (b) Corrected bug with STBY frequency change with Pilot Profile change. (c) Pilot Profiles can now be imported and exported via the SD card. (d) Corrected GMA 350 configuration loader bug. (e) Corrected GIA COM upload timeout issue. (f) Enable configuration options for display of fuel quantity on MFD with compatible level sensors. (2) Voice / Data Link (a) Corrected GDL 90 air/ground configuration bug. (b) Correct GSR 56 SMS message time stamp parsing bug. (c) Included XM MUTE on AUX - XM INFORMATION page. (d) Correct GSR 56 Failed Data Path issue. (e) Correct GSR 56 volume / hang-up bug. (f) Enabled display of GSR firmware version. Page 2

3 (3) Moving Map / MFD / FMS (a) Corrected bug with high rate of Stormscope lightning strikes. (b) Fixed LNAV/VNAV and LNAV+V full scale deflection issue. (4) PFD (a) ETE field replaces BRG field on PFD. (5) AFCS (a) Corrected S-TEC 55x compatibility bug. (6) Ice Protection System (a) Removed support for TKS flow sensor (FIKI) and revised BACKUP range and endurance calculations to be independent of the sensor configuration. 4 11. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS A. Acquire necessary tools, equipment, and supplies. Description P/N or Spec. Supplier Purpose SD Card (v Loader Card) Cirrus Design or Garmin Dealer Resource Center Upload software and configuration update files. Unlock Card(s) 1 - Garmin International, Inc. Olathe, KS Unlock option software (if installed). 1. Unlock card(s) for any previously installed option are retained with aircraft. B. Contact Cirrus Design product support to order v Loader Card or obtain the file directly from the Garmin Dealer Resource Center website at: C. Connect VDC external power to external power receptacle. D. Pull STARTER and FUEL PUMP circuit breakers. E. Set BAT 1 and AVIONICS switches to ON positions. F. Using PRE- column in Installed Options Checklist table, check applicable installed options. (See Figure 01) CAUTION: Once airframe configuration load is initiated, all digital traces of any currently installed configuration options and Marker Beacon Sensitivity settings will be overwritten. If those values are not recorded, a series of test flights may be required to adjust sensitivity properly. Navigate subsequent pages by use of MFD/PFD controls. To change page groups or move between data fields, rotate outer dial of [FMS] knob. To change pages in group or change field that cursor is on, rotate inner dial of [FMS] knob. To activate cursor, press inner dial of [FMS] knob. To cancel selection, press inner dial of [FMS] knob in again, deactivating cursor. [CLR] key may also be pressed to cancel a selection or deactivate the cursor. To accept entry of current selection, press [ENT] key. G. Using ACTIVE VALUE column in Marker Beacon Sensitivity Threshold table, check and record current thresholds for marker beacon sensitivity as follows: (See Figure 01) (1) Pull MFD and PFD circuit breakers. (2) While holding far right softkey on PFD, reset PFD circuit breakers and hold softkey until INITIAL- IZING SYSTEM appears to restart PFD in Configuration mode. (3) On PFD, rotate outer [FMS] knob to select GMA group. (4) Serials w/ GMA 347: (a) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select GMA Configuration page. (b) Press [LEVELS] softkey. (c) In MARKER BEACON field, note current ACTIVE values for HI SENSE THRESHOLD and LO SENSE THRESHOLD. (5) Serials w/ GMA 350: (a) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select GMA Marker Beacon Configuration page. Page 4

5 (b) In MARKER BEACON field, note current ACTIVE values for HI SENSITIVITY OFFSET and LO SENSITIVITY OFFSET. (6) Pull PFD circuit breakers to power down PFD. H. Update system files. (1) Load MFD software and configuration files. (a) On MFD, remove and retain any SD cards from top and bottom SD card slots. (b) Insert Loader Card into top SD card slot of MFD. (c) While holding far right softkey on MFD, reset MFD circuit breakers and hold softkey until INITIALIZING SYSTEM appears to restart MFD in Configuration mode. (d) Press [YES] softkey to acknowledge prompt to update system files. (e) Verify MFD indicates that system files have been updated. (f) Press [YES] softkey to acknowledge prompt to update splash screen. (g) Verify MFD indicates that splash screen files have been updated. (h) When system file updates are complete, verify MFD starts in Configuration mode. (i) Pull MFD circuit breakers to power down MFD. (j) Remove Loader Card from top SD card slot of MFD. (2) Load PFD software and configuration files. (a) On PFD, remove and retain any SD cards from top and bottom SD card slots. (b) Insert Loader Card into top SD card slot of PFD. (c) While holding far right softkey on PFD, reset PFD circuit breakers and hold softkey until INITIALIZING SYSTEM appears to restart PFD in Configuration mode. (d) Press [YES] softkey to acknowledge prompt to update system files. (e) Verify PFD indicates that system files have been updated. (f) Press [YES] softkey to acknowledge prompt to update splash screen. (g) Verify PFD indicates that splash screen files have been updated. (h) When system file updates are complete, verify PFD starts in Configuration mode. Do not pull PFD circuit breakers. (3) While holding far right softkey on MFD, reset MFD circuit breakers and hold softkey until INI- TIALIZING SYSTEM appears to restart MFD in Configuration mode. I. Configure software for base aircraft. CAUTION: For remaining software installation/configuration procedures, do not operate MFD while loading software or configuration files unless specifically instructed to do so. A failed or cancelled load may result. (1) On PFD, rotate outer [FMS] knob to select System group. (2) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select System Upload page. (3) Press inner [FMS] knob to activate cursor. Rotate inner [FMS] knob to highlight airframe type in GROUP field. (4) Set GROUP to appropriate aircraft type. Press [ENT] key to accept. Loading the base aircraft type overwrites all previously installed software options and configuration settings. (5) Once airframe type is selected, cursor moves to ITEM field. Rotate inner [FMS] knob to activate drop-down menu. Rotate inner [FMS] knob to move cursor to highlight appropriate aircraft model. Press [ENT] key to accept. (6) Verify PRODUCT window populates and displays software/configuration file information for each Perspective LRU. Page 5

6 (7) Verify LRU VERS column shows currently loaded software version in LRU, and CARD VERS column shows LRU software version stored on Loader Card. Each check in SOFTWARE and CONFIGURATION columns designates a file to be loaded to applicable Perspective LRU. By default, if different versions are displayed between LRU VERS and CARD VERS columns, SOFTWARE and CONFIGURATION boxes are automatically checked. (8) Press [CHK ALL] softkey to select all available check boxes. (9) Verify all available software and configuration files are checked, and press [] softkey. System automatically begins uploading software and configuration files to selected LRUs. If software fails to load 3 consecutive times, a problem exists with the system. (Refer to AMM 42-20) (10) If any file fails to upload properly, process will suspend and display a message box. Press [] softkey to re-initiate process. If a particular file continues to fail, de-select applicable check box by pressing [ENT] key. The remaining files may be uploaded while troubleshooting is performed. (11) After system successfully uploads, verify that each previously checked box indicates PASS in green when uploading process has completed and inspect SUMMARY window to verify that upload is successful. Press [ENT] key to acknowledge that upload is complete. J. Procedure - Configure Software For Optional Systems. CAUTION: Oil temperature will read F high or low if the sensor option does not match the installed sensor. The oil temperature sensor can be identified by visual inspection. For MS28034 Oil Temp Sensor Config option, the sensor has a metallic circular connector at the sensor. For DIN IEC 751 Oil Temp Sensor Config option, the sensor has a wire lead labeled with part number or (Refer to AMM 79-30) If configuration for an optional system is inadvertently loaded for a system that is not installed, the base aircraft configuration files must be reloaded. Additionally, any optional systems that had been configured will also need to be reconfigured. Serials SR , 2992, 3002, 3026 thru 3428: Disable GDU Fan Monitoring option is required to deactivate MFD and PFD fan monitoring in aircraft which are not configured for this capability. Serials w/ Electronic Stability and Protection (ESP): ESP is an extension of GFC 700 AFCS. GFC 700 Installation Option must be loaded prior to selecting/loading ESP Installation Option. Serials w/ Mode S transponders (i.e. GTX 33 or GTX 33 ES) and GTS 800 TAS: Existing Mode S address must be acknowledged and reconfigured for both GTX transponder and GTS TAS unit after software load process is completed as follows: a. With PFD in Configuration mode, use [FMS] knobs to select GTX tab and TRAN- SPONDER CONFIGURATION. b. Press inner [FMS] knob to activate cursor. c. Rotate outer [FMS] knob to position cursor on MODE S ADDRESS FIELD. d. Rotate inner [FMS] knob to enable MODE S ADDRESS FIELD for entry and reenter aircraft's Mode S address. e. Press [ENT] key to update Mode S address in GTX transponder and GTS TAS units. (1) Ensure PFD is in Configuration mode, and Loader Card is installed in top SD card slot. (2) On PFD, rotate outer [FMS] knob to select System group. (3) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select System Upload page. (4) With cursor active in GROUP field, rotate inner [FMS] knob once to activate GROUP menu. Page 6

7 (5) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select appropriate aircraft configuration or option folder from GROUP window and press [ENT] key. (6) With cursor active in ITEM field, rotate inner [FMS] knob once to activate ITEM window. Using POST column in Installed Options Checklist table, check applicable installed options as software is configured. (See Figure 01) (7) From ITEM window, select appropriate option title for option being installed and press [ENT] key. (8) Press [] softkey. (9) Monitor status of upload. When upload is completed, press [ENT] key. (10) View SUMMARY field and ensure that all items indicate COMPLETED. Verify PASS appears in green at all available check boxes. (11) Repeat Procedure - Configure Software For Optional Systems for all applicable installed options. K. Procedure - Configure Marker Beacon Thresholds (1) While holding far right softkeys on PFD and MFD, reset PFD and MFD circuit breakers and hold softkeys until INITIALIZING SYSTEM appears to restart PFD and MFD in Configuration mode. (2) On PFD, rotate outer [FMS] knob to select GMA group. (3) Serials w/ GMA 347: (a) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select GMA Configuration page. (b) Press [LEVELS] softkey. (c) In MARKER BEACON field, scroll down SET column to highlight value for HI SENSE THRESHOLD and change value to match ACTIVE VALUE noted in Marker Beacon Sensitivity Threshold table. (See Figure 01) (4) Serials w/ GMA 350: (a) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select GMA Marker Beacon Configuration page. (b) In MARKER BEACON field, scroll down SET column to highlight value for HI SENSITIV- ITY OFFSET and change value to match ACTIVE VALUE noted in Marker Beacon Sensitivity Threshold table. (See Figure 01) (5) Press [ENT] key to accept value. (6) Press [ENT] key to acknowledge OK in pop-up window. (7) Repeat Procedure - Configure Marker Beacon Thresholds for LO SENSE THRESHOLD (GMA 347) or LO SENSITIVITY OFFSET (GMA 350). L. Confirm software load. (1) On PFD, rotate outer [FMS] knob to select System group. (2) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select System Upload page. (3) Press [UPDT CFG] softkey to copy all configuration data to the external configuration module. (4) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select Manifest Configuration page. (5) Verify correct system part number (006-B ) and system software version (v ) are indicated in SYSTEM window. (6) If incorrect software has been loaded in Garmin Avionics equipment, ensure appropriate Loader Card is being used and reload software as required. (7) Pull PFD and MFD circuit breakers. (8) Remove Loader Card from top SD card slot of PFD. M. Procedure - Unlock Software To Enable Options The associated Unlock Card becomes locked to the system ID of the aircraft and must be retained with the aircraft for future updates. Options (if installed) requiring procedure to unlock software include: TAWS, Synthetic Vision, Chartview, and ESP. (1) Insert applicable Unlock Card into top SD card slot of PFD. (2) While holding far right softkey on MFD, reset MFD circuit breakers and hold softkey until INI- TIALIZING SYSTEM appears to restart MFD in Configuration mode. Page 7

8 (3) While holding far right softkey on PFD, reset PFD circuit breakers and hold softkey until INITIAL- IZING SYSTEM appears to restart PFD in Configuration mode. (4) On PFD, rotate outer [FMS] knob to select System group. (5) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to select System Upload page. (6) Press inner [FMS] knob to activate cursor. Rotate inner [FMS] knob to highlight CONFIGURA- TION FILES in GROUP field. Press [ENT] key to accept. (7) Once CONFIGURATION FILES is selected, cursor moves to ITEM field. Rotate inner [FMS] knob to activate drop-down menu. (8) Rotate inner [FMS] knob to move cursor to highlight appropriate option selected for upload (for example, ENABLE TAWS). (9) Once option is selected, configuration files in PRODUCT field will be displayed. All files should be checked. If not, press [CHK ALL] softkey. (10) Press [] softkey. (11) When upload is finished, press [ENT] key to acknowledge upload complete confirmation. (12) Ensure all items in SUMMARY window indicate COMPLETED. (13) Press inner [FMS] knob to de-activate cursor. (14) Pull PFD and MFD circuit breakers. (15) Remove Unlock Card from top SD card slot of PFD and store in SD card holder to retain with aircraft. (16) Repeat Procedure - Unlock Software To Enable Options to unlock other optional installed systems as required. N. Set BAT 1 and AVIONICS switches to OFF positions. O. Re-install any retained SD cards to top and bottom SD card slots on MFD and PFD. P. Reset STARTER, FUEL PUMP, PFD, and MFD circuit breakers. Q. Disconnect VDC external power from external power receptacle. R. Complete airplane records by noting compliance with SB 2X-42-08R1 in Aircraft Logbook. Page 8
