1 Gablys Lockit v1.0 User guide Gablys Lockit can easily protect your Mac. Combined with Gablys Lockit Bluetooth lock, your Mac is locked when you walk away and unlocked when you walk back. With the exclusive intrusion detection system, you are alerted if someone tries to use your computer when you are away. You will instantly receive the picture of the intruder directly to your smartphone. 1

2 Installation 1. Download the latest version of the application on Gablys Lockit application support page Save the installation package on your computer 2

3 Double click the package to begin installation, and then slide the Lockit application in the Applications folder. 3. Your application is installed. 3

4 Securing your Mac 1. From your Applications folder, double click the Lockit application. A message may appear asking to confirm the opening of the application. Click Open. 2. Now it s time to secure your Mac. The wizard that appears allows you to pair your Mac to your Gablys Lockit. Bring it close to your Mac and click Configure my Lockit. Follow the steps in the wizard. 4

6 Configuration 1. Click on the Gablys Lockit application icon on your Dock 2. The drop-down menu allows you to quickly check the battery level of your Gablys Lockit. 3. Go to the Settings menu to configure how Gablys Lockit will protect your data. a. Settings The first section allows you to define the general operation of the application. Lockit ID: It is the unique identifier of your Gablys Lockit. You need it for all you communications with the support. 6

7 Locking distance: It is the distance at which your Mac will lock when you get away from your Mac. Set a close distance and your Mac will lock as soon as you get up from your chair. Set a greater distance and it will be locked when you leave the room. You have to find the distance that suits your environment and working methods. Launch at startup: Check this option to open Gablys Lockit application at the opening of the user session. Enforce security with Gablys Lockit: This option controls the presence of Gablys Lockit while application is launching. If it is not present, the Mac will lock automatically after 30 seconds. The Mac will not be usable without Gablys Lockit. If this option is disabled, the security is effective only after having checked the presence of Gablys Lockit. Text area: Enter the text you want to see on the screen when your Mac is locked. b. Notifications The second section allows you to activate the reception of mail alerts in case of attempted intrusion on your Mac, when it is locked. When an intrusion attempt is detected on your Mac, a photo of the "hacker" is automatically taken and stored in your user directory (Pictures> Lockit) and a notification is displayed on your Mac. You can also specify an address to which the intruders photos will be sent, allowing you to be instantly alerted. 7

8 c. Additional scripts Gablys Lockit offers you the opportunity to run your own Apple scripts when your Mac is locked or unlocked. Put music on pause, lower the brightness of the screen, open your browser... let your creativity express itself! Load your script in the application using the Choose an AppleScript button and check the option to enable it. Uncheck the box if you don t want it to run anymore or delete it from the application by the Delete AppleScript button. Remove my Gablys Lockit: This last button remove pairing between your Gablys Lockit and your Mac. Your Mac will no longer be protected. Your Gablys Lockit will be ready to secure another computer... 8

9 Frequently Asked Questions 1. Is my Mac compatible with the Gablys Lockit? The Lockit Gablys requires Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, progressively integrated into the various Mac since To ensure that your Mac has the BLE technology: a. Click the apple menu. b. Select About This Mac. c. Click on the More Info... button or select the Overview tab (according to your Mac version). d. Click on the System Report button. e. Select Bluetooth from the sidebar on the left, underneath Hardware. f. Scan down the list of information until you find LMP Version. If your Mac is equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy, LMP Version will say 0x6. 2. Why should I turn on Bluetooth on my Mac? To check the distance between the Mac and the Gablys Lockit, the application is based on Bluetooth Low Energy technology, which allows the "communication" between the two systems. It is therefore necessary to turn on Bluetooth to allow this exchange. 3. The application does not detect my Gablys Lockit, what can I do? To be sure to pair your Mac with your Gablys Lockit (and not the neighbor or colleague s one in a shared space), the required distance is deliberately very close. Approach your Gablys Lockit the most from your Mac and repeat the pairing attempt. 4. My screen is locked and then unlocked even though my Gablys Lockit remains stationary. 9

10 When you use your Mac, the distance between your Gablys Lockit and your Mac is probably at the lockout defined threshold. In the settings, configure a locking distance slightly longer. 5. I'm not getting the intrusion alerts by . Intrusion mail alerts are disabled by default in the application. It is necessary to enter your address and activate these notifications in the application Preferences. Also make sure to haven t misspelled your address. 6. My Apple scripts don t work. If you have configured your Gablys Lockit application to run AppleScripts when you Mac is locking or unlocking, make sure you also checked the option in the Preferences.
