1 EI Checklist User Guide for American Electric Power 1
2 Step 1: Open Your Form Open the EI application (See Adesso v5 Installation Instructions, pages 26-30) Go to the Home view (See below), and select the button for the applicable EI form. Select the EI form here. Make sure you are in the Home view. 2
3 Step 2: Fill in the First Tab Fill out the appropriate fields on the first tab (Observ 1). Clicking here will populate the last saved value entered in this field (refer to the user guide for more details). Checking these boxes will capture the current date/time. To select a different date, click the dropdown and use the date finder. To select a different time, check the box and enter the numbers. Clicking here will pull up a box in which to select comments. 3
4 Step 3: Comments / Signatures The section above the gray line will autopopulate based on the information entered in Observ 1 To delete a signature, click on the x next to the box, and, when prompted, click Yes. Click in this box and type any witness comments. You can capture signatures in these sections simply by drawing them. This is the Signature tab. 4
5 Step 4: Adding Photographs Click this first square to navigate to the folder where the photo was saved. Click this fourth square to paste a previously copied image. Click this third square to use an integrated camera (Pocket PC users only). Click here to see more options (see above). 5
6 Step 4: Adding Photographs Click this second square to save the image. Click this sixth square to preview the image. Click this fifth square to delete the image. 6
7 Step 5: Saving / Printing On the Print tab, you can save your checklist record and open a printable version. You must save the record before you can print. 7
8 Step 5: Saving / Printing A new window will open with your printable form (example below). As long as this window is open, you will not be able to do anything in Adesso. 8
9 Step 5: Saving / Printing Once the report is open, you can save, print, view, and zoom by using the controls shown below. Use these buttons to navigate through the pages. Click here to export the form (supports.rpt,.pdf,.doc,.xls, and.rtf). Click here to change the zoom level. Click here to print the report. Click here to go to a specific page number. 9
10 Step 5: Saving / Printing When you are finished, be sure to close out of the print form popup. 10
11 Step 5: Saving / Printing After saving / printing, click OK to exit out of the form. 11
12 Step 6: Synchronize! When you have finished entering data for a particular checklist, synchronize with the server. If you go too long without syncing, you will receive an error stating that your version of the application is too old. If that happens, you will need to delete and re-subscribe to the application. Select Sync to only synchronize the active application. Select Sync All to synchronize ALL of your applications. 12
13 Step 6: Synchronize! If you receive the error mentioned on the previous page, you will need to do one of two things to correct it without losing any data. If you have not entered any new data since the last time you synced, then simply select the application on the folder pane, right-click, and select Delete (1). You will receive a pop-up message asking if you want to continue. Click Yes (2). You may also be asked if you want to delete the associated folder. Again, click Yes (3)
14 Step 6: Synchronize! If you have entered new data since the last time you synced, go to My Documents. Navigate to My Adesso Applications. 14
15 Step 6: Synchronize! Select both the folder and the.tdw file for the application(s) in which you have entered data but have not synced. Select multiple files/folders using ctrl+click (cmd+click on a Mac). Once you have all applicable files selected, right-click, select Send To, and select Compressed (zipped) Folder. 15
16 Step 6: Synchronize! You will now have a.zip file in the My Adesso Applications folder (typically with the same name as the first file you selected). If the file is not too large, send to If your client says that the file is too large, then to arrange other options. 16
17 Step 6: Synchronize! Once you have sent the application folder and.tdw file to Terraine, then you may follow the first set of steps to delete and re-subscribe to the application. It is important to note that if you make a point of synchronizing daily (preferably when you first open Adesso and just before you close out of Adesso), then this error will not be an issue. As outlined in the installation instructions, you can also set up your applications to synchronize automatically in the background. 17
