2 Registering for Remote Access INFORMATION ON HOW TO REGISTER FOR WEB VPN AT: ACCESS THE REMOTE ACCESS SERVICE AT: NOTE: You will need to have cookies and JavaScript enabled in your browser. You may also need to install Java. QLS only works on Windows 7 (or earlier) and Internet Explorer v11 (or below) We recommend that you add to your browser's list of Trusted Sites. Please consult your browser's Help for details on how to do this. 2

3 Once logged in via the above authentication, the following screen is displayed: Select QLS Window Users IMPORTANT NOTE: If you receive a security alert that does not allow users to access QLS, users will need to note the following: Web Applications Requirements and Recommendations Cookies and JavaScript must be enabled on your browser. Your VPN session provides access only to the corporate resources that your administrator has previously configured for your use. We recommend that you add the security appliance to the list of trusted sites, as follows: 1. Choose Internet Options. To do so, use either of the following methods: o Choose Start > (Settings >) Control Panel > Internet Options. o Open Internet Explorer and choose Tools > Internet Options. 2. Click the Security tab. 3. Click the Trusted sites icon, then click the Sites button below. 4. Using the prefix, type the host name or IP address of the security appliance in Trusted Sites window. To maximize connectivity, use a wildcard such as 5. Click Add. 6. Click OK. Click OK on the Security tab. 3

4 Accessing and logging into QLS Select QLS Live and you will be presented with the QLS log in screen. Login using your normal MMU credentials. As there are three QLS Live servers, the top line view will be represented as either: MMU LIVE v1.22 UPD2 VENUS MMU LIVE v1.22 UPD2 NEPTUNE MMU LIVE v1.22 UPD2 - MARS Note: Some screenshots are taken from our test server (PLUTO) for the purposes of providing these guidelines (as it would be inappropriate to show student details from the live student record system) Users will then be presented with the following screen: 4

5 Select QLS Live and users will be presented with a log in screen below: Log in using normal MMU credentials 5

6 QLS Academic Workgroups There are three Academic QLS Workgroups: MMU Academic MMU Academic Direct Applications MMU Academic UAM MMU Academic For accessing student data related to: Admissions and Enrolments. Assessment for inputting assessment marks (Results Entry) Admissions Assessments Enrolments 6

7 MMU Academic Direct Applications In addition to MMU Academic - Admissions: for accessing student data related to PGR and PG Applications including viewing student documents submitted as part of a student application MMU Academic UAM In additional to MMU Academic Admissions: for accessing student data related to UG applications via UAM Paperless 7

8 Toggle between Academic Workgroups (where users are given access to more than one workgroup) If you are a user with more than one workgroup, you will need to toggle between workgroups via Options as indicated below. A dialogue box with a list of QLS workgroups will be presented, select and click update. Select Options and then select Change Workgroup A separate dialogue box will then open from which to select the required workgroup. Scroll to required workgroup and when highlighted, select Update. 8

9 Student Search within QLS To search for a student within the Admissions (Applicant Search) or Enrolments (Student Search) areas, input MMU ID and select search. Alternatively you can Enter either surname select search (if searching by surname, a list of student lists will appear to select from) From the list select required student (line will turn blue) and then press select on the left hand side The QLS Student Identification area will then populated with the student details. 9

10 Navigating within QLS Close return to the student search page without the student details < Back return to the student search page with the student details displayed Save if user has rights to make amendments, using this option will save any changes made. (Note: if user does not have amendment rights, the save area will be greyed out) Next > will move the user to the next tab 10

11 MMU Academic Direct Applications Workgroup Accessing Student Documents within Self Service Select Documents tab Documents Tab View Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen to move to the end of the documents area 11

12 A list of documents will be displayed (typeface colour blue): Select a document and you will be presented with dialogue box and options: Selecting Open will open the document Selecting save will reveal the following options: Save Save as Save and open Cancel will cause the above display box to close and return to the document screen Alternatively highlighting the document and right click will open menu: 12

13 QLS Documents Important Notes: When using Save option, this can only be undertaken to the MMU network environment. This can be either to the MMU H or Staff2Staff R drives. There is a known error that occurs on opening documents with prefix.docx. This error is related specifically to the QLS Application and a resolution is currently being sought from the QLS third party supplier. 13

14 Logging Out of QLS and Returning to MMU Remote Access Service To exit QLS, you will need to logout of the application via the logout option on the right hand side of QLS Important note: always logout of the QLS application Once Logged Out, users will be returned to the QLS Log In Page. To move from QLS back to the MMU Remote Access Service area either shut down via the X or switch between the screens via the tabs 14
