In the manual option, operator may ativate and deativate any step; RAPIDUS does nothing more than allowing manual aess to the operator in this program. Following features are available in all ompensation programs other than Manual : User may enter any type (apaitor or shunt reator) and order of steps to RAPIDUS: RAPIDUS does not use (ignores) the steps that it has learned as 0 or that is entered by the user as 0. When it has learned a single- or two-phase step, if at least one step is entered as singleor two-phase by the user, RAPIDUS automatially runs on the Rapidus ompensation program. 38 Power Fator Controller Rapidus Program Rapidus option is the only ompensation program that allows single- or twophase apaitors and/or single- or two-phase shunt reator (other than Manual ) The ompensation program seleted in the default settings (fatory settings) of RAPIDUS is the Rapidus option. It ativates the step ombination losest to the measured demand. Demand B C C C C C CosPhi = (Target indutive) A CosPhi =.000 CosPhi = (Target apaitive) Fig RAPIDUS Mode Compensation Steps On the diagram above: A: Reative power interval orresponding to the measured CosØ values. B: Limit value deided for ompensation by RAPIDUS (alulated as per automati C/K ratio). C: Reative power value to be ompensated. When the system is in interval A, RAPIDUS does not ompensate. When the system is in this interval, ativation and deativation ounters of RAPIDUS are not ative. RAPIDUS starts to ativate a step after an ativation time (See Ativation time) when the system reative power requirement reahes over B point. Similarly, RAPIDUS starts to deativate a step after a deativation time (See Deativation time) when the system reative power requirement is dereased under B point Asending Sequential program All steps (apaitor or reator) shall have 3 phases in asending sequential program. Step ativation and deativation operations are performed by starting from the step with the lowest power (asending sequential). When ativation/deativation is required, only one step is ativated/deativated. Then reative power is alulated again. If ativation/ 38

39 Power Fator Controller deativation demand is ontinued, next step with the lowest power is ativated/ deativated. When the System is Indutive If a shunt reator is ativated, RAPIDUS deativates steps one by one until the demand is met starting with the shunt reator with the lowest power. Assume all shunt reators are deativated and system is still indutive. RAPIDUS ativates steps starting with the apaitor step with the lowest power. When the System is Capaitive If a apaitor is ativated, RAPIDUS deativates all steps one by one until the demand is met starting with the apaitor with the lowest power. Assume all apaitors are deativated and system is still apaitive. RAPIDUS ativates steps starting with the shunt reator step with the lowest power. Shift angle is set from -45 to 45. RAPIDUS adds the reative power that is alulates with the shift angle to the reative power that it alulates by measuring the system voltage and urrent. Then it alulates the osø value and ompensates. Index values vary as per shift angle. Assume that the CosØ value indiated by RAPIDUS is.000. When the user enters 20 as the shift angle, RAPIDUS shall alulate CosØ value as indutive. When the user enters -30 as the shift angle, RAPIDUS shall alulate CosØ value as apaitive. 48

49 Power Fator Controller Averaging Time After aomplishing its measurements, RAPIDUS an quikly deide whether there is a need to swith in or out step(s). In summary, RAPIDUS is a quik responding reative power ontroller. If the operator does not require RAPIDUS to respond quikly, operator should adjust the devie via this tab. RAPIDUS takes average of the measured power during the adjusted interval (5 se. 60 se.). Just after the adjusted time interval elapses, RAPIDUS ompensates aording to the alulated average power. This setting will inrease response time of RAPIDUS. However, on the other side, this setting will lengthen the lifetime of swith gear of the system. This is a ompromise of opposite requirements, and it hanges from system to system. Settings->Setup->Compensation Steps Entered Off Program Rapidus 5 se. 0 se. Target ind se. Target ap se.
