3 lntroduction This document explains Metasys Integrator GE lighting applications, which include: Total Lighting Control System GE ECON Lighting Control Panel Use this document with the Metasys Integrator Technical Bulletin (LIT ) in the Metasys Connectivity Technical Manual (FAN 629.5), which provides information on installing and commissioning Metasys Integrator. For information on vendor equipment, see GE documentation (obtainable from a GE representative), or call Application Details Metasys Integrator allows GE equipment to become an integral part of the Metasys and Metasys Companion Networks. Once the Total Lighting Control System or GE ECON Lighting Control Panel is connected to a Metasys or Companion Network via the Metasys Integrator, its data is available to the full complement of Metasys Facility Management System (FMS) features, including Change-of-State (COS) monitoring, alarm notification, trend, and totalization. The Total Lighting Control (TLC) panel consists of up to 48 relays that provide on/off control of lighting circuits and other switchable loads. The RLINK Dataline Access Module unit acts as an interface between TLC panels and other devices (such as Metasys Integrator). Metasys Integrator allows status information and commands to be transmitted between the TLC panel and the Metasys or Companion Networks via the RLINK unit. Each Metasys Integrator vendor port can connect to one GE RLINK unit. One RLINK unit can connect up to 499 TLC panels. Note: The limit on the number of devices Metasys Integrator can connect to is 256. Other system limits may restrict the number of points which may be mapped back through a single Metasys Integrator panel. The GE ECON Lighting Control panel is a central controller that can control up to 9999 lighting control group sectors in multiple GE lighting panels on the GE network. Figure 1 shows the GE ECON Lighting Control Panel and Metasys integration. Figure 2 shows the GE TLC System and Metasys Companion integration. 5 Component Requirements Total Lighting Control Panel GE ECON Lighting Control Panel To integrate the GE Total Lighting Control System, you need the following: properly installed RLINK Dataline Access Module, Dataline Power Supply, and Total Lighting Control Panel RS-232 cable (RCABLE-C provided by GE to connect the GE RLINK unit to Metasys Integrator) Metasys Integrator N2 Bus (for connecting Metasys Integrator to the Metasys or Companion Network) portable PC for downloading vendor communication tables (.VCT files) and network setup information, and for running diagnostics cable for connecting portable PC to Metasys Integrator the correct vendor communication table (.VCT file) to download into Metasys Integrator (supplied on diskette) To integrate the GE ECON Lighting Control Panel, you need the following: properly installed GE ECON Lighting Control Panel and GE lighting panels RS-232 cable (for connecting the GE ECON to Metasys Integrator) GE RS-485 Dataline (for connecting the GE ECON to the other GE lighting panels) Metasys Integrator N2 Bus (for connecting Metasys Integrator to the Metasys or Companion Network) portable PC for downloading vendor communication tables (.VCT files) and network setup information, and for running diagnostics cable for connecting portable PC to Metasys Integrator the correct vendor communication table (.VCT file) to download into Metasys Integrator (supplied on diskette) Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator GE Lighting Application 5
6 This document describes the RS-232 cable and the vendor communication tables. GE documentation describes their equipment. The remaining components are described in the Metasys Integrator Technical Bulletin (LIT ) in the Metasys Connectivity Technical Manual (FAN 629.5). Metasys Release Requirements Metasys Companion Release Requirements Vendor Component Requirements Vendor Contact Information To integrate the GE Total Lighting Control System or GE ECON Lighting Control Panel into the Metasys Network, you need: Metasys Operator Workstation (OWS) software Release 9.0 or higher Metasys Integrator software/firmware Release 7.0 or higher To integrate the GE Total Lighting Control System or GE ECON Lighting Control Panel into the Metasys Companion Network, you need: Metasys Companion Release 6.0 or higher Metasys Integrator software/firmware Release 7.0 or higher Integration between Metasys Integrator and GE has been tested with: Total Lighting Control Panel Revision 1.0 (Catalog No. RINTER1212) with built-in controller (Catalog No. RCC48, hardware Revision D, software Revision 2.0) and the RLINK Dataline Access Module Revision 1.0 (Catalog No. RLINK) GE ECON Lighting Control Panel Revision VS.2.02D (Catalog No. ECONRS232L1) connected to GE lighting panels Changes to this equipment or integration of GE products not discussed in this document will require additional software development and testing. For information on integrating other products, refer to the Custom Integration section of this technical bulletin. GE Electrical Lighting Control 370 Green Valley Rd. 7 Design Considerations When integrating GE equipment, consider the following: Make sure GE equipment is set up and running properly before integrating with Metasys or Companion. (The GE representative is responsible for operation of GE equipment.) RS-232 cable distance between Metasys Integrator and the GE equipment can be a maximum of 50 feet. For the GE TLC Panel, make sure the equipment s baud rate is set to (The GE representative is responsible for setting the baud rate.) The GE TLC Panels have their own internal programs for lighting schedules. You must erase these schedules in order for Metasys to properly maintain a lighting schedule. The GE TLC Panel sends out an asynchronous Change-of-State message when a relay changes state. Metasys Integrator does not currently handle asynchronous messages; therefore, the messages are ignored. The change will be detected when polled. One vendor address must be defined for the RLINK. This allows a 10-second delay each polling sequence, allowing time for any TLC panels which had been powered down to re-initialize. For the GE ECON Lighting Control Panel, make sure the equipment s baud rate is set at (The GE representative is responsible for setting the baud rate.) If the GE ECON front panel key is in Manual state, all the points will be offline until the key is returned to Automatic. Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator GE Lighting Application 7

11 Metasys Integrator Setup To set up Metasys Integrator, use a portable PC connected to Metasys Integrator Terminal Port. Metasys Integrator setup involves: downloading the correct vendor communication table (.VCT file) setting up the ports setting up the network addressing The following table provides information specific to the GE application. For detailed procedures, see the Metasys Integrator Technical Bulletin (LIT ) in the Metasys Connectivity Technical Manual (FAN 629.5). 13 Point Mapping Tables Tables 2-4 (one for each application) show the points available for mapping in the GE devices. Total Lighting Control Panel To obtain the hardware reference for mapping points to a CS object (via the software model), combine the NPT (Network Point Type) and NPA (Network Point Address). For example, the hardware reference for the Relay 1 State point is BO1. The sector number is determined by the following equation: sector = (Vendor Address * 256) + NPA For example, if your desired sector number is 522 and your vendor address is 2, determine the NPA as follows: 522 = (2 * 256) + NPA Therefore, your NPA would be There is no way to determine the actual sector state. The state displayed is the last command sent to the ECON panel by Metasys Integrator. Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator GE Lighting Application 13
