Agenda 1. Context The constant challenges of the evolution of SmartGrid technologies 2. The SmartLab - Overview Main characteristics 3. The SmartLab - Implementation Technical description 4. Summary Utilization examples and main benefits
Smart Lab Summary Utilization examples and main benefits Objectives: To validate in a controlled scenario (lab) all the equipment and systems developed in the scope of Sensible project prior to the installation on the field. Tests at the SmartLab: Equipment automation and protection Operation in different scenarios Integration with the ICT infrastructure Residential (HEMS). Duration: 2 months
Smart Lab Summary Utilization examples and main benefits Objectives: To validate a new SmartGrid functionality. This system (installed on the SS) allows to determine the phase (L1, L2 or L3) in which a single-phase meter is installed. Tests at the SmartLab: The AFM system was installed in a cabinet to simulate a SS. 4 circuits simulated 4 LV circuits powered by the SS. 90 Smart meter with variable resistive loads and LED lighting. Duration: 3 weeks
Smart Lab Summary Utilization examples and main benefits Objectives: To provide the necessary means to those interested in developing and testing equipment that communicates with the smart meter through the MODBUS / HAN port. Tests at the SmartLab: External company to promote energy efficiency in a municipality, developed and tested the communication of its products with the Smart meter in the SmartLab / Smart Home. Duration: 1 day
Smart Lab Summary Utilization examples and main benefits Objectives: Validation of a new tool used by the DSO to perform the remote FW ugrade on smart meters Tests at the SmartLab: Three (3) LV networks were made available in SmartLab (1 concentrator per network) each containing about 50 smart meters of the same model. These updates were carried out remotely by the DSO (EDP Distribuição). Duration: 2 weeks
Smart Lab Summary Utilization examples and main benefits Vision Provide EDP Labelec with an environment close to real field conditions and with an integrated global view of the SmartGrid, with the objective of testing solutions and equipment before its installation on the field. Infrastructure with the ability to simulate a LV network scenario - consumption and energy production - dimensioned to connect: 4 secondary substations (equipped with Routers, Hubs, Modems,...), circuits with real BT cable, up to 400 Energy Box, "Client House" simulation modules and distributed generation Capacities Tests that can be performed: End-to-end integration; Communication: (i) noise perturbance (ii) field simulation conditions; Performance and fine tuning Interoperability Cyber-security Ambition To be the privileged location of EDP Group and also to external Customers projects to carry out all tests on smartgrid equpment. Integrate a new Test Center for Storage solutions, wich supports the ongoing developments in the group.
