New Web services will speed integration and simplify access to disparate repositories when developing content-centric applications. This enables integrators to rapidly build new solutions across their enterprise repositories. Several new features have been added to improve integration for federated records management. A new repository-agnostic abstraction layer has been added to simplify record lockdown integration with content federation services (CFS). This capability enables you to implement legal holds or records management functionality across disparate repositories without having to specifically implement the repository unique content lockdown procedures, greatly simplifying the application development process. Support for version delete and version series delete have been added. These features provide more fine-tuned control over the contents of document versions. For example, the deletion of version 3 of a document series with 7 versions can be accomplished via the new version delete function. The version series delete enables the deletion of every version of a given document. Version mirroring has also been added, to enable users to conduct search and other operations on a version-specific basis. Several new features have been added to improve consumability. Deployment has been streamlined by making the use of a J2EE application server optional. Administration of the data mapping function has been simplified, improving ease-of-use. Support for MOD:CA was added to the View Services option. V8.5 also continues to build on a long history of performance improvements. This time you get enhancements to session pools, which improve not only performance, but also configurability for high availability and improves the scalability. V8.5 went through regression testing of existing content repository versions, and in many cases, adds support for new versions of content repositories. Description Enterprise Edition V8.5 delivers federated access to information stored in disparate content management systems from IBM and other vendors such as EMC/Documentum and Open Text, from within portals, workflow, and other enterprise applications. IBM Content Integrator makes multiple disparate repositories look and act as a single unified repository, and provides a complete platform for deploying applications and workflows spanning multiple content sources. V8.5 includes: Federated access to multiple disparate content management and workflow systems Complete platform for deploying repository-spanning applications and workflows Bidirectional access to content and workflow, as well as the underlying functionality Pre-built integrations to more than 20 content management and workflow systems A rich set of functions spanning multiple repositories, including federated search Service oriented architecture (SOA) support Provides a new set of basic SOA style Web service-based APIs to enable SOA solutions - high level (grain) functionality and stateless. Choose an information access strategy driven by each customer's unique requirements. Take advantage of having the option to use a content integration or a content federation strategy as a temporary or permanent option. Customers can control if and when they will expose themselves to the risks and expenses associated with content migrations. Technical information Specified operating environment Hardware requirements The exact hardware configuration to support a specific environment with satisfactory performance varies depending on the distribution of the software components, the of documents to be accessed, the types of systems being accessed, the application requirements, server workload, the of users, and other factors. Disk space requirement The following table shows minimum recommended disk space for a typical installation in MB. 10 Charge metrics definitions Processor Value PVU is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. PVU entitlements are based on processor families (vendors and brands). A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate of PVUs based on the level or tier of all processor cores activated and available for use by the Program on the server. Some programs allow licensing to less than the full capacity of the server's activated processor cores, sometimes referred to as subcapacity licensing. For programs which offer sub-capacity licensing, if a server is partitioned utilizing eligible partitioning technologies, then a PoE must be obtained for the appropriate of PVUs based on all activated processor cores available for use in each partition where the program runs or is managed by the program. More information can be found on the Passport Advantage Web site Eligibility requirements sub-capacity licensing To be eligible for sub-capacity licensing terms on this product, you must agree to install and configure IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software, in accordance with the IBM Tivoli License Manager publications, and to enable the collection of program use data on all eligible machines subject to sub-capacity terms. For those machines running programs with sub-capacity licensing terms, you must use IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software to monitor program use and submit to IBM an IBM Use Report each calendar quarter. Multiple copies of IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software or IBM Tivoli License Manager are not required. You can use more copies if you need them to support your operational environment, but only one copy is required to monitor all your sub-capacity licensed products. Additionally, if this is the first product you have licensed under sub-capacity terms, you must agree to the terms of an attachment to your Passport Advantage or Passport Advantage Express contract and submit a new Passport Advantage enrollment form.
