1 Information: There is no talking during the exam. As long as anyone in the classroom is working on the exam, there will be no talking. You will receive a single warning for talking. If you continue to talk, you will stop working on that section of the final exam, and will receive a zero (0) for that section. Do not bring any personal devices with you to testing. If you do, it will be taken up and held until class is dismissed. If you finish early, you can read a paper book, or draw with paper & pencils. No computer work. Any suspicious behavior or suspicious test answers will be investigated as cheating, and may result in a zero (0) score for the final exam and a referral to campus administration. There are five parts to the final exam: Timed Typing (5 minutes, Random Facts) - 20% of final exam grade Internet Search (2 questions) 20% of final exam grade MS Word Document 20% of final exam grade MS Excel spreadsheet 20% of final exam grade MS PowerPoint presentation 20% of final exam grade TIMED TYPING 1) You will be tested using speedtypingonline.com 5 minutes, Random Facts text only. 2) Any other time or text will result in a 0 for the timed typing portion of the exam. 3) You must personalize your results with your first name and last name. If the test results are not properly personalized, you will not receive a grade. 4) Print the entire typing test results document. Do not select pages. 5) Stay seated. I will take your printout off the printer and call your name. 6) DO NOT CLOSE the tab containing your typing results until I tell you I have your printout. Fall 2017 Page 1 of 6
2 INTERNET SEARCH 1) You will work from a paper assignment with two separate questions. Search for the answer to both questions, one at a time. Use Google s search engine. 2) For the first search question, once you have found your answer: a) Open a new (blank) Google Doc. b) You will copy [Ctrl+Fn+PrintScreen] and paste [Ctrl+V] a screen shot of the web page with your search results into a Google Doc. You must use [Ctrl+Fn+PrintScreen] to grab the timestamp. (See image below.) No timestamp = no grade. c) DO NOT CROP YOUR SCREEN SHOT. Resize as large as possible on the Doc page. d) The results (answer to the question) must be fully visible in the screen shot. (See image below.) e) Read the question carefully. Be sure you are actually answering the question. For example, if the question reads: Who initially starred as Miss Hannigan in the 1997 "20th Anniversary" revival of the musical that had run for nearly six years at the Alvin Theatre?, your answer should be something similar to the following screen shot: f) The source of the results must be visible in the screen shot. The source is the URL (web address for that particular page). (See image above.) Fall 2017 Page 2 of 6
3 3) For the second search question, go back to the paper assignment document and repeat all of step 2 for the second question. 4) Print all pages of the answer doc, staple it on top of the search question paper I gave you, and turn it in to me, like this: #1- Search Question Paper #2 Answer Doc 5) NOTE: Results from Google Answers, WikiAnswers, Yahoo Answers, or any other answer site are not acceptable, and will result in a zero grade for the Google Search portion of the final exam. 6) Taking a screen shot of Google s search results is not acceptable. You must go to the source web page and take a screen shot of the page, making sure the answer is visible. 7) A reputable source such as an online encyclopedia (Wikipedia, Britannica) is recommended, but there are other reliable sources available. MICROSOFT POWERPOINT 1) I will give you a paper assignment with instructions for creating a 4-slide PowerPoint presentation. There is no file to download for this portion of the test. 2) The document will contain instructions for each slide s topic and contents. 3) You should know how to: Use a design theme. Use different slide layouts. Change text size, color, and font. Apply transitions to slides. Apply animation to text objects. Check your work. 4) Once you are finished with the PowerPoint presentation, you will save it with your LastName, FirstName and class period. 5) If the file name is not in the proper format, you will lose ten (10) points from your score. 6) When I tell you to do so, upload to Google Drive and share it with me. 7) DO NOT UPLOAD THE FILE UNTIL I SAY TO UPLOAD IT. Fall 2017 Page 3 of 6
4 MICROSOFT EXCEL 1) You will download an unformatted spreadsheet from Google Classroom. 2) While students are working on the final exam, internet access will be blocked. 3) You will have paper instructions to format the spreadsheet and insert calculations and totals. 4) For the exam, you should review how to: a) Insert a header into a spreadsheet b) Adjust the column widths in a spreadsheet c) Bold the text d) Apply borders around cells e) Type a properly formatted calculation into a cell. i) Know how to create a calculation to multiply two numbers. ii) Know how to create a calculation to add two numbers. f) Format numbers as general or currency g) Copy a calculation from one cell to many (AutoFill). h) Use the AutoSum to total a column of numbers. 5) When instructed to do so NOT BEFORE - upload to Google Classroom to turn in. 6) The next page shows calculations that will be useful for the final exam. MICROSOFT WORD 1) You will work from a paper containing the unformatted text of a business letter. 2) You will type up the letter in MS Word, formatting it as a full block style business letter. 3) To prepare for the exam, you should review how to: a) Change the type font, both style and size. b) Adjust the page margins. c) Change the document Style to No Spacing. d) Check the document for spelling and grammar errors. e) Format a business letter in Full Block Style (See last page of the study guide for an example.) 4) When instructed to do so NOT BEFORE - upload to Google Classroom to turn in.
