1 Pages vs. Word Office vs. Office on IPad Both have templates Can start with a blank page Can change font on both Can change size of words on both Both have a ruler at the top of the page Can use textboxes on both Can add graphs on both Can print from both Both have spell check Can add page break on both Can add hyperlinks Can undo, copy, paste and highlight Can have multiple documents open Can insert photos Cannot change color of font on pages Pages does not have clip art Pages does not have headers Harder to operate on pages
2 Numbers vs. Excel Users have the option to add graphs and charts Can merge cells on both Both use functions Can jazz up graphs and spreadsheet Both have data comparison Both have formulas Both have equations Numbers is harder to operate than numbers Numbers has different categories for functions (ex. engineering, financial, numeric, etc.) Numbers does not let you jazz up your spreadsheet as you want
3 Keynote vs. PowerPoint Both provide different templates Both have transitions Can add notes to both Can change font size and colors Double tap text boxes to insert text or change text Both have animations PowerPoint templates are very basic Keynote can be shared with icloud Can send another copy of Keynote Can open Keynote in another app Keynote provides a ruler Keynote has more interesting templates The animations are more dramatic in Keynote
4 Overview: Pages vs. Word I would rather use word than pages. Pages was harder to operate and navigate through. I like that pages keeps a ruler at the top of the page. I like the fact that I can do a paper even when I am on the go. I do not like that you cannot open documents in pages like you can in word. I like that on word there is a bigger screen than there is on pages. I like how on word, I can put my flash drive in the computer and upload other work as well. I would have my students use pages if I want them to do a small group assignment that does not require a lot of writing. For example, if I wanted my students to make a chart or brainstorm activities for a project. Other than that, I do not see myself using pages with my students. Numbers vs. Excel Numbers was a lot harder to operate. I would rather use excel. It was harder to find the functions in numbers and type in the formulas as well. It would be hard for my students to operate numbers. If I ever had my students do a project on numbers, it would be very simple. I would not expect them to use numbers as much as I would excel. In my opinion, excel is a lot easier to
5 navigate and I like that on a computer there is a bigger screen for me to use functions and formulas and put in graphs. Keynote vs. PowerPoint I really liked using Keynote. It was a lot more interesting than using PowerPoint. Keynote has a lot of fun animations and templates that can be used. I would definitely incorporate Keynote in my classroom. Keynote could be used to do a small group PowerPoint for a project. Even though I am used to using PowerPoint, I am not opposed to using keynote more often.
Software Compare and Contrast
Microsoft Software Compare and Contrast Word Easy to navigate. Compatible with all PC computers. Very versatile. There are lots of templates that can be used to create flyers, calendars, resumes, etc.
