3 1 The Homepage Portfolio Clicking on an indication in your portfolio will automatically open the worldwide dashboard. You can then move through the data cube using the navigation pane on the left. How do I? Click to open up a short tutorial video in a new window. My Projects Create and manage private or shared folders to store and/or share bookmarked data. Search Click on an icon to open the search module for: individuals, trials, organizations, drugs, publications (click on Publink) or presentations (if included in license). Do not forget to specify the TA (indication) if you do not wish to look through every TA. MAX RESULTS: move the slider to display more than 150 results. FUZZY: extends the search to include hits that resemble the text string entered in the search. Wizards Advanced analytical tools that allow the user to interface with the database to answer specific questions on- the- fly. LISTBUILDER: Create custom lists of individuals, trials, organizations, countries, publication or regions. COUNTRY ALLOCATION: Evidence- based country ranking according to the best fit with your criteria. SITE SELECTION (if included in license): Evidence- based site selection, site meta- statistics, estimation of theoretical patient pool and trial timelines. Preferences Change user preferences. 3

We recognize different people in different parts of the organization require different data. The GUI allows coarse strategic overview to a fine drilldown. Windows Information presented in the GUI is embedded in a window, similar to other desktop applications. You can maximize/minimize windows, delete them or save them in your folders. Many windows have behavior attached to them. Small icons at the left side allow you to view the data in alternative ways (table, pie charts, bar charts). Hovering over a window or text will bring up additional information or options. Colours and icons Where appropriate or possible, data has been graphically expressed by color and iconic values. Window border colors are indicative of certain classes of data: - Blue : trials - Olive Green: sites or organizations - Green : drugs - Red : Individuals Geographic structures ta- scan data is organized in three geographic levels: economic blocks (North America, Europe West ect.), countries and regions within a country. Economic blocks can be programmed to coincide with your geographic areas. Scoring and Ranking Many components of the system attribute a score and rank individuals by their frequency in journals, trial registries and other public databases. Organizations are scored and ranked based on the number of trials (investigator- initiated or not) and the aggregate score of all individuals associated with the organization. 4

Clicking on the icon will open a pop- up window with the data. A raw data table is available behind every figure. A slider allows you to modify the other group size. Display all subheadings by clicking on. For the best user experience a reasonable screen resolution and size is recommended. Even better, a dual screen configuration makes working with this tool extremely efficient. TIP: Stretch your browser across two screens. Any graphic you wish to pop up in the GUI can be pinned to the extra screen for viewing or comparative analysis. 5

6 5 Mapping function Geographic maps Geographic maps are supplied by Google maps and have most of the typical behavior (zoom in/out, double click and mouse drag). The ta- scan system populates markers from tables. You can display multiple tables on the same map. To display data on separate maps click on freeze in the top left of the map window. Thematic maps Thematic maps are solid color maps. The size of the colored area depends on the input table. Also, when you go over regions with your mouse, a tool tip flags the direct value of the colored segment. Developing a composite view of 5-6 data tables can provide deep business intelligence on type of centers, popularity of particular areas (which may indicate access to patients) and clusters of metropolitan activity as opposed to regional or provincial centers of interest. 6 Navigation Examples

An organization can be any hospital, clinic or political entity. An organization is ranked by the number of times it has been used as a site, the academic publications of people who work there, and the number of hits we find of individuals in public databases connected to trial activity. Each economic block or country has a list of the top 1000 organizations (based on the ranking; excluding companies) that are active within the chosen TA. TIP 2: Click on Details to display investigators/academics associated with organizations in a list. Data can be split per region or per sponsor. Select the relevant figure and open the data window to access the raw data table. 9

Open the Investigators window from the data display. (2) The Investigators list contains all individuals whom a. have been mentioned as investigators on a trial record b. have published about a clinical trial a c. are registered in the FDA Investigator database (FDA CFR (c)) (3) Click on a name in the list to open the person drilldown window. This window has separate tabs with the known trials for this person, his/her publications etc. 11

You can use the ListBuilder to create a custom list of trials. 1 Open ListBuilder Open Trial List 2 Trial properties: Phase, recruitment status, age group etc. Open ListBuilder Open Gantt chart Open Analytics Remove trials or copy to new window 3 4 (1) Open the ListBuilder from the Homepage. Choose Find Trials, select the relevant presets and select an indication. Click on Next. (2) The Query Diagram window shows the number of trials in the List. By making additional selections for Sponsors, Countries, Drugs, specific medical conditions or trial properties, the List will be fine- tuned further and the number of trials in the List will decrease. Click Open to open the trial list. (3) Using the filters on top of each column you can do additional fine- tuning. Then click on Gantt View to open the Gantt chart in a separate window. (4) In the Gantt chart click on Analytics to open the descriptive statistics in a separate window. You can remove outliers from the Gantt chart by using the Edit function. 12
