2 Please check and confirm following items BEFORE the workshop 1. Check the suitability of the computer and operating system that you plan to bring to the class 2. Confirm that you have all the required software installed Install the missing software 3. Download chemsherpa tools from chemsherpa website 4. Install the downloaded tools 5. Check to confirm that you can launch the tools 6. Download the class practice file (from thairohs.org website) 2

3 1 Check the suitability of the computer and operating system that you plan to bring to the class You need to bring a laptop computer (PC) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 or better (For 64 bit, supports only windows 8.1 and 10) Screen Resolution: WGA (1024 x 768 dots) or better (Recommend 1280 x 800 or better) Fonts: Small or medium (should set to small) Calendar display format: (Important) Check your date display format (bottom right of your screen) Change to standard (western) format 3

4 2 Confirm that you have all the required software installed Software: Microsoft.Net Framework Full version: 4.0 or 4.5 Microsoft Excel If you don t have Microsoft.NET Framework installed Check following links. You need one of this s/w to run chemsherpa. Download (free) and install it before coming to the class V4: V4.5: Download and click on the downloaded file to install 4

5 3 Download chemsherpa tools from chemsherpa website There are two types of chemsherpa Data entry support tool chemsherpa data entry support tool for chemicals (chemsherpa-ci) chemsherpa data entry support tool for articles (chemsherpa-ai) Please download and install both tools BEFORE the class (Detail in the next pages) 5

8 3 Download chemsherpa tools from chemsherpa website (4) 3 After clicking data entry page will appear 2. Click to accept the condition 1. Fill-in the required information 3. Click to download 8

9 3 Download chemsherpa tools from chemsherpa website (5) 4 A link to the download file will appear after you complete the form Click to download 5 Repeat the same steps to download files for cs-ci 9

11 4 Install the downloaded tools 1 Unzip the two downloaded zip files 2 Check the unzipped files and folders 11

12 5 Check to confirm that you can launch the tools 1 Click into folder cs-ai( aen) ARTICLE 2 Open Article.exe file to launch chemsherpa-ai 12

13 5 Check to confirm that you can launch the tools (2) 3.1 If the tool is correctly installed, chemsherpa-ai screen should appear 13

14 5 Check to confirm that you can launch the tools (3) 3.2 If there is no screen appear after running Article.exe file 1. Check your unzip process It is possible that you might open the **.exe file without actually unzip it into your hard disk or your unzip program only perform temporary extraction Make sure that the required files are properly unzipped and every files are physically saved on your hard disk 2. Check the length of the path to your **.exe file If the path to your **.exe file is too deep and/or your (accumulated) folder names are too long, the call to your file may exceed the windows limit for filename Shorten the path to your **.exe file and/or rename your folders and subfolders 14

15 5 Check to confirm that you can launch the tools (4) 3.3 If you get following Error Message You don t have.net Framework v4 or better installed Follow the instruction on page 3 2 Your.NET Framework is not the Full version Download and install.net Framework as described on page

16 5 Check to confirm that you can launch the tools (5) 3.4 Non of the above symtoms Read the manuals chemsherpa_data entry manual for Articles(Ver1.5)_EN.pdf or chemsherpa_operation manual for Chemicals(Ver1.5)_EN.pdf Post your question on chemsherpa forum on thairohs.org: You need to login before you can post 16
