1 How to install SoundPLAN 8.0 demo version. To install SoundPLAN you must have the rights to write to the Windows registry; normally that means that you should log in as an Administrator or your user account must give administrator s privileges while you install. 1) Put the DVD into the drive (if the installation procedure does not start automatically, double-click the <autorun.exe> file on the DVD) and select demo in the first window popping up. If you install via downloads, unpack the zip file and click Install32SP.exe / Install64SP.exe (don t unpack LFiles.zip) and go to step 4). 2) Click Install SoundPLAN Demo version in the next window: Page 1 of 9

2 3) Click SoundPLAN professional 7.4 in the next window: 4) Now select the language to be used during the rest of the installation procedure: 5) Click I Agree : 6) Click Next if you want a shortcut icon to SoundPLAN on your desktop, otherwise remove the tick mark: Page 2 of 9

3 7) Pick a destination for the installation; it is strongly recommended that you keep the proposed location, so click Install : 8) In the next window you must select language for the program itself, templates (for table set up and graphic sheets), the libraries and the on-line help. The SoundPLAN Libraries host an extended collection of sound power levels, directivity indexes, sound reduction indexes etc. The data are organized in the System libraries of which there are several languages to choose between. The English (without any country specification) and the German libraries include with few exceptions the same records, pick at least one of these. The Danish library contains a series of records which have acquired official status in Denmark (approval from the Danish Environmental Protection Agency). Put a hook at libraries you want to inspect. Click Install when you have put relevant tick marks on all 4 index cards. Page 3 of 9

4 9) This will complete the installation. Click Close (this window might be hidden behind other open windows): Downloading demo projects 10) In order to evaluate the program you must have some readymade projects to inspect (since you cannot save own data with the demo version). It is recommended that you copy some demo projects to your harddisk, at least WINCITY (or WINSTADT if you are German spoken) which contains both traffic and industrial noise. Clicking Yes will make a pdf guide pop up, and behind that a window where you can pick your choice. Key in a path to the location where you want the projects to be stored. Remember to pick a location where you (the user!) have (has) unlimited access. Page 4 of 9

5 First launch: 11) When you launch SoundPLAN for the first time the window shown beneath will pop up. As a guest only the language settings are relevant for you. Page 5 of 9

6 12) Finally you are ready to launch SoudPLAN. Pick noise and you will be at the entrance, SoundPLAN Manager: 13) The version of SoundPLAN you have now installed was most likely compiled several months ago. Before you start exploring the program you better update to the current version. Under Help in the SoundPLAN Manager you find the menu Updates & Downloads. This offers you to download the latest update. Make sure you are connected to the Internet, click Download and when the download has finished Install Updates. Page 6 of 9

7 The download includes files for the system libraries. Therefore you are asked to close all system libraries. If you have followed this guide you have no libraries open, so just click OK. Page 7 of 9

8 The languages you have previously selected willl automatically be updated. Now you get the chance to add futher languages that you left out in the first place. Before the procedure can update the program, it must be closed. Click OK. Under the Read me button you find the bug fix, a text document that sums up the changes introduced via updates since the official release of the version. The updating itself takes place when clicking OK. Page 8 of 9

9 You are told when the update has finished. 14) Now you are ready to explore the potentials of SoundPLAN.
