2 NEW USER PREPARATION GUIDE Having made the decision to purchase our KEYPrime Accounts program we now ask you to do some preparation prior to your first training day(s) and your initial use of the program. This will be helpful to get the most out of your training day(s) and for us to gauge your requirements and help you achieve them. It is important that you carry out installation and registration during normal office hours for technical support help and supply of your personalised registration code. For network installations please contact Landmark first before proceeding. This document outlines the following:- 1. INSTALLING THE PROGRAM CREATING A COMPANY

3 Stand Alone PC Installation. 1. INSTALLING THE PROGRAM To install KEYPrime onto your PC place the DVD into the DVD drive and follow the on Screen instructions. Choose to run LMKey_PrimeBootstrap.exe.Net Framework will be installed automatically before installing KEYPrime, if not installed already. From this screen select the appropriate installation and click on Begin Installation. At this screen the install will identify those components that are needed to be installed for KEYPrime. 3

4 If you are on Windows 8, select Run the program without getting help when this message shows. This may show several times during the installation. (Not applicable this is a new install of Version 4.0) The database engine will now be installed The Key Prime Wizard will configure your system. 4

5 Please agree to our license agreement in order to proceed. The installation will choose a default folder to install the program in - do not change this unless you are advised to do so. You may choose to install the program for all users of the PC or just you. Please follow the screen instructions to complete installation. NOW THAT THE PROGRAM IS INSTALLED YOU WILL NEED TO CREATE EACH OF THE COMPANIES YOU ARE GOING TO BE USING. During this process you will need to supply Landmark with information so that your unique Licence Key can be supplied. 5

6 2. CREATING A COMPANY Double click on the new desktop icon to start the KEYPrime Launchpad Key Launchpad controls access to and maintenance of the accounts and property data. (E.g. Backing Up and Restoring) Click on Administrator to show the left hand menu options and then Administrator on the top of the sections to list the menu options. 6

7 Now choose Create New Company Enter a user name and password for the new company and click Next. (Keeping a note of these for use later!) Choose from the drop down boxes at the top which Application Type to install (Accounts or Property) then choose which level of the package you have purchased. (KEYPrime Standard, Advanced, Optional) Complete your business details on the rest of the form and select the modules purchased on the right hand side. (They must match what has been ordered.) On saving the details you will be shown a unique Licence request number which needs to be supplied to Landmark to complete the registration process. The request details can be ed or printed and sent to Landmark. 7

8 Landmark staff will then be able to supply the registration code to complete the process. When you have received your registration code, select the unregistered company and enter your user name and password in the fields at the bottom of Launchpad. Select Register Company from Launchpad Administrators menu and enter the code supplied and confirm OK. Once the company is registered it is recommended that you take a back up of the data before anything else is entered. Backup and Restore is also on the Administrator menu. (Backup, which should be carried out frequently, is also at the bottom of Launchpad. ) Select backup and enter a meaningful filename (leaving the default path) followed by.zip as shown.(example filename here is MyFirstBackup ) Please avoid unusual characters and spaces in your file names and try to keep them short. Leaving the check in the compress backup option, select the backup button and your data will be saved as a compressed file in the folder identified. Do not check the option to Transfer Backup to Landmark Systems at this stage, this is used for support purposes only and you will be instructed if you need to do this. You are now ready to continue with setting up your data, by selecting the relevant company, entering your user name and password then click Sign in to start the relevant application. Alternatively you may have purchased many companies, in which case, the whole procedure of creating new companies will need to be done for each one. 8
