1 Release Notes Blackmagic Version Original Release Date: 27 th October 2016 Maintenance Updates New Features / Enhancements The user interface within the Workbench application for the Media and Output datatype items has been updated to match the tabbed panel style as used for Jobticket. All options remain available, organised into relevant areas within each database item. Some functions are now presented differently for clarity. Sped up the processing of PDF files which perform a large number of ICCBased colourspace changes. Drop folder support added for jobs submitted within subdirectories. Directories are automatically deleted once all files in them have been processed. i1 Pro2 driver spot measurement support added for chart reading. This is useful for medias which cause the strip reader mode to fail. The Epson SC-S40600, SC-S60600 and SC-S80600 Precision Dot drivers now support RGB colourspace. When switching Medias via the Change Media option in Paper Profile, all previous measurements and settings are retained if the driver, resolution, and colourspace are the same. Renaming a C5 printer now also renames the underlying Pagesetup, Media, and Output, which in turn renames the printer drop folder. On-screen lists containing large numbers of items now update significantly faster. Pagesetup Pools selected in the Submit window no longer assign a Jobticket by default. Qt framework updated to version The following Epson printer drivers are now compatible with C5. EPSON SC-S30600, SC-S40600, SC-S50600, SC-S60600, SC- S70600 and SC-S C5 can now use Local Print Queue as a connection method for printers. Added support for Canon ImagePROGRAF PRO-2000 / PRO-4000, PRO-520 / PRO-540 printers. C5 can now utilise the Media Catalogue to automatically download media packs. An Online Media Catalogue button replaces the Download Media Packs link in the Media Library tab. Added a driver for the Inca Onset S40 series of printers. The EAE Soft Proof Interface press agent driver now supports section-based pagination. Added support for Canon ImagePROGRAF PRO-4000S / PRO-6000S, PRO-540S / PRO-560S printers. Added support for Canon ImagePROGRAF PRO-1000, PRO-500 printers. Added support for CET Color Q5 series and K2 series printers. Spectro application is now able to load (Lab only) special colour data directly from individual jobs in the QueueManager for verification purposes. Epson SC-P20000 Precision Dot Driver now utilises internal printer calibration data unique to each printer when printing. Added support for HP Pagewide XL series of printers. Improved HP JetDirect protocol support when publishing Pagesetup IP printers on later versions of Mac OS X. Monitor Printer Status now displays the firmware version for compatible Epson printers. The Epson Precision Dot drivers for the EPSON SC-40600, SC and SC printers now take advantage of the calibration data stored in the printer. This produces consistent output across different printers using the same configuration. Allow plates with different dimensions when processing separated postscript files. Upgraded the Barbieri SDK to version 4.13 Added support for the Durst Omega 2 printer. Added support for EPSON SC-P5000 / SC-P5050 / SC-P5070 / SC-P5080 printers. Multi-page asset jobs are now added to the job queue ordered by page number. 2 Printer status monitoring has been optimised for multiple Outputs connected to the same printer. Printer status monitoring has been optimised to minimise communication with the Canon imageprograf PRO series printers. 16-bit RGB colours are now correctly identified in the Client. 'Assign Pagesize' render effect has been added to Jobticket. The effect automatically assigns a page size to jobs from a user created list (Blackmagic Only). Updated the look of the internal Webserver to match the current Serendipity website. Added additional placement options to the Assign Pagesize render effect (Blackmagic Only). Additional print modes added to the HP Designjet Z2100 / Z3100 / Z3200 / Z5200 / Z5400 / Z6100 / Z6200 / Z6600 / Z6800 Printer Screening driver. An automatic (clear coating) generation method has been added to the Media Custom Settings for printers with device spot / white / ink optimiser channels. Improved the algorithm that auto-selects some database item names to avoid name clashes when importing and saving archives. HP Pagewide XL, HP Designjet D5800 and HP Designjet Z6800 drivers now automatically download new print modes from the printer. Spectro application ΔL, Δa, and Δb now appear as negative values if applicable. Added a driver for the Epson Workforce Pro WF-R8590 series of printers. Rear Paper Feed added as a paper source option to the Epson Workforce Pro WF-R8590 driver. Improved sheet size matching between Media Custom Settings and printer drivers. Added a setting to the Touch Console application allowing SoftProof jobs to be opened in a new tab instead of replacing current tab content. Changed how delta L, a, and b are calculated in the Spectro application. It is now calculated as reference minus measured value. Improved Bonjour service look-ups on Mac OS. Measurement of printer embedded spectro jobs can no longer be (accidentally) cancelled by pressing the space bar. Polling speed of the FUJIFILM Workflow XMF rip driver has been improved, significantly reducing polling times for large genstores. Delta values printed in Calcheck reports now use only 2 decimal points. Updated EIZO SDK to latest version. Added a driver for the Epson Workforce Pro WF-C869R series of printers. Added pre-defined fold types 1 through 4 and clip content by margins option to the HP Pagewide XL 8000 / 5000 / 4500 / 4000 driver. Improved rendering of thin lines in PDF and Postscript files. Output Screening Halftone Defaults in Media are now auto-generated from selected printer driver's internal width resolution if it exists, otherwise from Media's width resolution. Improved paper simulation for spot colour jobs rendered using Absolute Colourimetric Intent. Archive version control has been added to prevent users loading incompatible database settings from later software versions. Bug Fixes Fixed a bug with the Epson SC-P7000 driver where the printer would generate wrong paper size and wrong paper path errors in monitor printer status if imprecise cut sheet sizes were used. Fixed a bug where loading a job in SoftProof from Press Agent would open multiple SoftProof tabs if multiple versions of the same publication page were available. Fixed a bug in the Workbench where the Export as C5 Pack option was exporting the media pack without including ICC profiles. Fixed a bug where the Serendipity Client would timeout when trying to load an archive with an output that had printer status monitoring enabled for a printer that doesn't exist on the current network. A defective Pagesetup would be created, causing jobs to fail. Fixed a bug where sending a calcheck job to the Epson Spectroproofer and cancelling it after printing has started would cause the printer to change network assigned TCP/IP address. 3 Fixed a bug where a replace colour set was not being recognised when a PDF was submitted to a Pagesetup with a set assigned. Fixed a bug where the Fail on RGB option in the Jobticket Postscript/PDF options was not functioning for PDF files with only RGB images. Fixed a bug where dongle rescue mode would activate if no dongles were plugged in and a Server was run. This was caused by a USB Card Reader device being plugged in at the time. Mac OS Issue only. Fixed a bug that occurred when using a version 7 pre-sale dongle. The displayed time left was always 0 days. This did not affect the functioning or expiry of the dongle. Fixed a bug where page 2 of a multi-page PDF file is stretched when using asymmetric resolution and rotation. Fixed a bug where Version 7 pre-sale demo dongles would stop working with 6 days still remaining. Fixed a bug where the version 7 driverless dongle, pre-sale demo could not be updated when expired. Fixed a bug where the PDF printer driver would generate corrupted files once the output file size exceeded 2GB in size. Fixed a bug where PDF files which contained a stream larger than 2GB would generate a blank page, ignoring all the contents of the stream. Fixed a bug when using multiple displays on Windows platforms - a SoftProof launched via the TouchConsole would switch to the wrong display when entering fullscreen mode. Fixed a bug that occurred when rendering a job to a media and output using different drivers. Jobs will now fail and print an error message. Fixed a bug where new Paper Profiles could not be created. Fixed a bug where the Epson SC-S80600 Precision Dot driver would fail to render when using CMYK colourspace without white or metallic ink. Fixed a bug where shutting down status monitoring for Epson printers could take a long time, causing command timeouts on the Client. PDF transparency mask fixes. IPP printing from Mac OS X El Capitan was not working. The Serendipity Client would crash on exit when running on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008R2. Arrow keys work again for moving up and down the Workbench items list. JPEG files which include Photoshop APP markers longer than 64KB are now handled correctly. The bug caused the image resolution to not be read correctly when processing the file. Fixed a bug where the C5 media name was no longer visible in the printer media panel. Attempting to change then save the configured media resulted in an error. Lineariser density mode CMYK text file (CMYK and KCMY sample order) instruments now correctly import measured values. Fixed a bug where version 7 dongles could cause Server processing to halt under certain conditions. Fixed a bug where the Paper Profile editor was not clearing last loaded density patches in some cases. Fixed a Workbench crash that could occur when duplicating or creating many new items. Fixed a bug where selecting pages from a specific publication section would sometimes display the wrong page in SoftProof. The Canon imageprograf PRO-2000 / PRO-4000, PRO-520 / PRO-540 driver could not be configured if a model other than the imageprograf PRO-2000 was connected. Fixed a bug where the SoftProof section viewer and Touch Console Show Pages panel did not display all available publication sections under certain conditions. Fixed a bug where Ink Limit Chart jobs would fail if submitted to a job that used Colour Keys. Fixed a bug where the Serendipity Updater for the standalone Serendipity Client on Mac OS X would crash when run from the program icon. Fixed a bug where advanced black and white print modes did not work correctly in the Epson SC-P20000 with Epson Precision Dot Driver. The Canon imageprograf PRO-2000 / PRO-4000, PRO-520 / PRO-540 driver could fail to parse status information returned by the printer. Fixed a bug with the version 7 driverless dongles where a pre-sale demo dongle would not update correctly when converting to a sale. Fixed a server crash that could occur after loading a damaged or unconfigured Output from a legacy database file. 4 Jobs could fail to render when using Epson Precision Dot drivers and multiple jobs started rendering at the same time. A left or middle maintenance tank warning would cause the Epson SC-P20000 driver to crash when printer status monitoring was enabled. The Newsprint high quality print mode for the Canon ipf680 / ipf780 printers was incorrect. A backslash character in the custom text field for the Slugline render effect would cause rendering to fail. Selecting an RGB colour after selecting a CMYK colour in a Special Colour Set caused the RGB colour swatch to change and be converted to incorrect CMYK colourspace values. 16-bit RGB colours were displayed with 8-bit values in Special/Replace Colour Sets. When moving grouped frames in Studio out of and back within bounds, under certain conditions some frames would incorrectly retain a dotted (overlap/out of bounds) border. Selecting an N-colour spot after selecting an Lab spot colour in a Special Colour Set generated an error message. Four-side borderless for the EPSON SC-P5000, SC-P9000 / 7000 and SC-P20000 printers was not printing top and bottom borderless correctly. Fixed a Client crash that would occur when editing render effect options. This was introduced by code added in Update 10. Nesting with Jobtickets using multi-colour match ICC profiles would cause a Server crash. Under certain conditions, when upgrading a printer driver the Media custom settings data would be upgraded incorrectly, resulting in the media rendering with the wrong settings. When using the new v7 driverless dongles, an incorrect error message was displayed if the software version being run was higher than the dongle supported version. Outputs that had their own internal destination, when viewed in the Workbench, were always treated by the Client as if they had been modified. Automatic download of the user manual via the Client Help menu would download a corrupted PDF file. Jobs with larger dimensions submitted with a bottom-attached logo failed during rendering. Stand-alone RIPMonitor module was not refreshing the list of polled jobs at startup. Force Relative Colourimetric Media White option in Server Settings had no effect until the Server was restarted. Fixed a bug where certain Photoshop files with transparency layers would render incorrectly. Printer Status panel in the C5 Client is now wider allowing printer warning messages to be displayed correctly. C5 Client Studio was losing the Layout printable media area and the Print option after switching to another panel. Fixed a C5 Client crash caused when selecting certain Printer options. Fixed an absolute colourimetric rendering regression between version and for spot colours. PDF transparency fixes. Keyboard shortcuts in the SoftProof application did not work when the virtual loupe was active (Linux only). Lineariser max density numbers were zeroing on Submit Linearisation under certain circumstances. Fixed memory leaks related to the Touch Console application. Fixed a memory leak that occurred when measuring Linearisation charts using a printer embedded spectrophotometer. Fixed an issue that could create corrupt media library files when downloading print modes and media tables from Canon imageprograf PRO series of printers. Fixed a rare Server crash that could occur if the Server was shutdown during start-up. EPSON SC-P20000 with Epson Precision Dot plain paper modes would fail during rendering. Removed the Copies field from Duplex in the Output > Nest/Duplex panel as it is not applicable to duplexing. The TouchConsole Previous Page, Next Page, and Deimposed Pages buttons would not respond under certain conditions. Under certain conditions, vignettes that used 2 spot colours showed significant banding in areas where one of the colours faded to white. The LPR and Bonjour [lpr] destinations now work with the Canon imageprograf PRO series of printers. CMYK Calcheck charts attached to jobs would be printed in the wrong position when cropping and padding were enabled in the Jobticket. Under certain conditions, automatic Duplexing would commence before all pages belonging to a document had finished processing. Calcheck charts were not being included when archiving or restoring Workbench Camera configurations. Fixed an issue where not all pages were imaged and rendered for certain multi-page PDF jobs. 5 Calcheck labels on Mac OS X printed at the incorrect size. PDF security fixes. Fixed an issue that occurs when sending Epson maintenance jobs to the printer using the LPR destination. Printing to an Epson with LPR on Linux caused the last few scanlines to be discarded and as a result, the bottom of the print looked faded. Fixed an issue where multiple nozzle check jobs could be generated when the Server was configured to automatically print one on a given date. Fixed a crash that would occur when printing a Calcheck Chart to a queue which had duplexing enabled. Fixed a crash that could occur when rendering a job that included spot colours in absolute colourimetric rendering intent. Incorrect paper background was rendered when using absolute colourimetric intent with a media that used a multicolour colourspace, such as hexachrome. Black Point Compensation was not being applied to CMYK spot colours when the Apply ICC to CMYK Specials setting is active. Fixed a Server startup hang that could occur when updating legacy database items. Fixed macos full screen display issues. Full screen windows no longer use separate macos space. SoftProof window status bar was being incorrectly hidden under certain circumstances. Fixed a bug where thumbnail tab image was blank on the first load of a SoftProof window. Touch Console search keyboard was not functioning correctly. Touch Console duplicate page viewing: select newest page setting was not being respected when loading Bookfilter publications. Fixed a Server crash that could occur on macos when selecting a USB Destination in Output. RIP editor no longer creates database orphans when editing custom settings. Jobticket editor Render Effects no longer generate database orphans under certain conditions. Bookfilter editor no longer creates orphans when editing custom settings.
