1 AEROS Quick Reference Guide AEROS is the managed service provided and managed by INPS, helping GP practices and CCGs deliver the Government's Digital Challenge. AEROS is a strategic hosting platform that encourages local healthcare teams to embrace data sharing, interoperability and integrated care. The patient record is not stored locally in the GP practice, using cloud technology, AEROS provides clinicians with fast access to patient records; enabling locally authorised healthcare teams collaborate electronically and to exchange information and review progress wherever they are located. Benefits to using AEROS include: Vision is fully functional. No training is required to switch. All major third party products are supported and updates are deployed quickly. No server to maintain and no backup or reindex to manage. Faster patient load times. Reporting runs 60% faster than a local server. Windows 2008 supports all printers and allows right click. The following is a quick reference guide designed to assist in the following: How to access Vision via AEROS. See Logging into an AEROS Session (page 1). Frequently asked questions about using AEROS. 2 Logging into an AEROS Session To log into the AEROS system: 1. Switch your workstation on. 2. If necessary, log into Windows in the usual way to display your desktop. 3. Double click on the INPS_Vision_AEROS.RDP icon. Note - Please be aware the INPS_Vision_AEROS.RDP icon may display on your desktop as. 4. The Log On to Windows screen is displayed. 5. Complete as follows: Log On to Windows User name - nnnnn.aaaaa where nnnnn is your practice user number and aaaaa is your initial and the first four letters of your surname eg JSMIT for user and John Smith. Note - You can only access GP Communicator or check your Mail Gateway by logging in using the EDI.nnnnn log in provided by your INPS Engineer. 6. Click OK. Password - Enter the password you set up on your initial log in. Log on to - Should default to INPSNHS, if it does not, select INPSNHS from the available list. 7. Your AEROS desktop is now displayed with the Vision icon ready for use. 2 Vision 3

3 AEROS FAQ How do I check Who am I? Once logged into AEROS, if you require any of your session details, usually for the Helpdesk, you can find the information by double clicking on the Whoami icon. The Who Am I screen is displayed with all the relevant information of which the Terminal Server Name and the Session ID are the most commonly requested. Who Am I screen Why can I not log in to more than one machine at a time? You can only be logged in on one AEROS session at a time, this helps ensure AEROS is ISO security compliant for the highest level of physical access and security processes. 4 How do I run Clinical Audit? A Clinical Audit generation is run automatically for you every night. If you want to run Generate/Regenerate Reminders, from Clinical Audit, select the Generate tab and click on Request Reminders Generation. Your reminders are generated/regenerated as part of the automatic overnight run. Clinical Audit - Generate tab - Request Reminders Generation Which version of Word is available through AEROS? Currently, Word 2010 log in. is installed and therefore available via AEROS How to I switch back to my machine? At the top of your AEROS desktop, there is a remote server toolbar To leave AEROS connected and running, but to switch back to your local desktop, click minimise. You are returned to your local desktop with the AEROS session minimised on your bottom toolbar. To return to your AEROS session, click on the minimised icon on your bottom toolbar. 4 Vision 3

5 Logging out of an AEROS Session You have two options to come out of an AEROS session: Log Off - Closes down all the processes in your session and then closes down your session, see Logging off AEROS (page 5). Disconnect (not recommended) - Removes your connection to the session running, but leaves the session, and therefore any processes, running, see Disconnecting from AEROS (page 5). Logging off AEROS To log off an AEROS session, closing all running processes: 1. From the AEROS main screen, click Start. 2. Select Log Off. AEROS - Start - Log Off 3. 6 Disconnecting from AEROS Important - This is not a method INPS recommends. To disconnect from an AEROS session, leaving all processes on the AEROS server running: 1. From the AEROS main screen, click the X Close on the yellow remote session tool bar at the top of the screen. Yellow remote session toolbar 2.
