1 1 Administering a Total Academic Headcount License Steps Performed by Student Step 1: Create a MathWorks Account Student - Create a MathWorks Account. - Associate account with TAH license. - Install product files. - Activate installation. To activate the software, you must have a MathWorks Account. You can use an existing account, but the address used for the account must include the university s domain and the account must be set up for academic use. You can create an account at the MathWorks Web site or during the installation process (see Step 3: Install Product Files on page 1-36) To create an account at The MathWorks Web site, click the Create Account link. When you create the account, make sure to set it up for academic use, as shown in the following figure. Select this option. To activate the software, you must associate your MathWorks Account with the TAH Student license using the Activation Key. 1-34

2 Deploying a TAH Student License You can associate with a license using the License Center at the MathWorks Web site or during installation using the MathWorks installer (see Step 3: Install Product Files on page 1-36). To associate with a license at the License Center, follow these instructions: 1 Go to the MathWorks Web site and log in to your MathWorks Account. 2 On the My Account page, click Manage Licenses. 3 On the My Licenses page, click. 4 In the Associate dialog box, enter the Activation Key of the TAH Campus license. Enter Activation Key. Click Continue. 1-35

3 1 Administering a Total Academic Headcount License Step 3: Install Product Files Student - Create a MathWorks Account. - Associate account with TAH license. - Install product files. - Activate installation. 1 Get the Activation Key for the TAH Student license and any instructions your administrator has prepared. 2 Get access to the product files. For example, the administrator at your site might give you the location on a server on your internal network where you can get the files. If your administrator wants you to download product files from the MathWorks, you must go to the License Center at the MathWorks Web site and log in to your MathWorks Account. (If you need to create an account, see Step 1: Create a MathWorks Account on page 1-34.) On the My Account page, click Manage Licenses to get to the License Center. To download, you must associate your account with the TAH Student license (see Step 2: Associate Your Account with the License on page 1-34). On the My Licenses page, click Download Product Updates. 3 Start the MathWorks installer specific to your platform. Windows: Double-click thesetup.exe file. If you have access to the product DVD, the installer starts automatically when you insert the DVD into the DVD drive connected to your computer. Macintosh: Double-click the InstallForMacOSX file. Linux/Unix: Run the install.sh script. Note The following details the installation steps on a Windows platform, but the process is similar on Macintosh, Linux, and UNIX platforms. 1-36

4 Deploying a TAH Student License 4 Choose to install automatically using the Internet in the Installer Welcome dialog box. 5 Review the software license agreement and click Next. 1-37

If you need to create an account, select the I need to create a MathWorks Account option and click Next. Enter your university address and password. Select this option if you need to create an account. 1-38

6 Deploying a TAH Student License If you are creating a new account, enter your address, first name, and last name in the Account Creation dialog box. When you create an account you must associate it with a license. Specify the Activation Key to associate with the TAH Student license and click Next. Enter your university address, first name, and last name. Enter Activation Key. 7 Specify the license you want to install in the License Selection dialog box. If you have the Activation Key for the TAH Student license, select the Enter an Activation Key for a license not listed option and enter the Activation Key. If you have already associated your account with the TAH Student licenseatthelicensecenter,selectthelicensefromthelistoflicenses. If you created an account in the previous step, you already specified the Activation Key, so the installer skips this step. 1-39

7 1 Administering a Total Academic Headcount License After specifying the license, click Next. Select your TAH Student license. Select this option and enter Activation Key. 8 Select the Typical option in the Installation Type dialog box. This ensures that all products on the TAH Student license get installed. 9 Specify the folder in which you want to install the software and click Next. 10 Confirm your choices and click Next. 11 When the MathWorks installer finishes, it displays the Installation Complete dialog box. In this dialog box, you can choose to activate the software you just installed. You cannot use the software you installed until you activate it. The MathWorks recommends activating immediately after installation. If you want to activate later in a separate process, clear the option and click Next. To proceed with activation, leave the option selected and click Next. 1-40

Note If you started the activation application, rather than letting the installer start it, you must choose whether to activate automatically or manually. The MathWorks recommends activating automatically. 2 Log in to your MathWorks Account and click Next. 1-41

Enter activation key. 5 Specify the operating system user name of the person who will use the software. The operating system user name is the ID under which you gain access to your computer. It is also known as computer login name. The 1-42

To use the MathWorks software, you must be logged into the computer as the user name you specify. Enter your operating system user name. 6 Confirm your activation information in the Confirmation dialog box and click Activate to activate the software. 7 Complete the activation process by clicking Finish in the Activation Complete dialog box. 1-43
