The SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Release Notes which detail the changes made since SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 1 was released. 4 SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Installation Notes 4 System Requirements System Requirements The recommended specification for SAFETI-NL 6.54 is as follows: Operating system Windows XP SP3, Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Vista, Windows7 (32 or 64 bit version). Internet Browser IE 7.0x. This does not have to be set as your default browser, but you must have at least this version installed in order to run the program. Display Screen colour depth CPU Media Pointing device 1024x768 resolution or higher (16-bit) and higher 32-bit CPU from Intel or AMD (for example Intel Core2 Duo) DVD-ROM drive or internet connection MS Mouse or compatible No Citrix, Microsoft, Oracle, VMware virtualisation tools, e.g. XP mode on Windows7, are supported. Additional Hard Disk Space Required for SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 only Patch 2 All supported operating systems 30MB

5 SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Installation Notes 5 Details of the Installation Process for Patch 2 Details of the Installation Process for Patch 2 In order to install the program, you must have administration rights for the machine. Contact your System Administrator to check whether you have administration rights, or to obtain these rights. However, the SAFETI-NL application does not require the users to have any administration rights. It is recommended that users are part of the standard Windows Normal Group while running SAFETI-NL. In order to avoid installation failures and before starting the installation, there are several issues to be aware of. These are listed in the next section and refer to sections detailed later in this document. The remaining part details the installation stages. Things to be aware of There are several issues which users and administrators should be aware of before installing SAFETI- NL 6.54 Patch 2: Installation timeout File Permissions and User Rights Installation while the User is not connected to the Organization Network Virtualisation Windows 8 issue See the section Known Issues for more information on the above subjects. Before running the installation it is recommended you read the Known Issues section. SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Pre-Requisites Patch 2 requires SAFETI-NL 6.54 and its Patch 1 to be installed. Otherwise you will not be able to install Patch 2 and any of the following dialog message will appear. SAFETI-NL 6.54 must be installed If SAFETI-NL 6.54 is not installed the following message will be displayed. SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 1 must be installed If Patch 1 is not installed the following message will be displayed and the Patch 2 process will be aborted. Click on OK. Click on OK.

The SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Installation Stages This section describes the stages in the installation after clicking on the SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2.msi. The dialogs below may look slightly different on your system depending on the operating system and localisation. SAFETI-NL 6.54 installation on Windows 8 In order to install SAFETI-NL 6.54 on Windows 8 a step described in the section Windows 8 issue is required before the installation is started. Start the Patch 2 installation process by doubleclicking on the SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2.msi file Depending on your setting the file may be displayed with/without the file extension.msi). In this case select the file with type Windows Installer-pakket

7 SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Installation Notes 7 Details of the Installation Process for Patch 2 Welcome Dialog The first dialog tells you that the SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 is preparing for the installation process. It calculates space requirements, whether the operating system is supported and if the prerequisites exist; this checking may take several seconds. The section Known Issues mentions some of the messages raised at this stage. When the preparation is complete, the Next > button will become enabled, and you must click on this to proceed to the next stage of the installation. Ready to install the Program Click on Install to start the installation of SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2. User Account Control Prompt On Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, any installation step must be approved. Failure to click Yes within 90 seconds would lead to installation failure as described in the section Known Issues. Click on Yes to continue with the installation. Installation Progress Dialog During the installation, a dialog with a progress bar is displayed. If you must abort the installation please click on Cancel.

Check that the text explicitly says successfully installed SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2. The Completed dialog looks very similar in case of installation failure (see for example the section Installation timeout). Click on Finish to close the dialog.

9 SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Installation Notes 9 Setting up a Licence for SAFETI-NL 6.54 Setting up a Licence for SAFETI-NL 6.54 Do I Need to Request a Licence File from DNV Software? You will not need to request a licence file if Or 1. Your existing licence file is valid for SAFETI-NL The Licensing has already been set up by the System Administrator Some types of licence 1 are specific to a machine and all licensing is handled locally on that machine. If you have arranged with SAFETI-NL Helpdesk to use this type of licence, you would normally set up the licensing yourself on your machine. The process of requesting a licence file is described in the next section. If you are going to use a file supplied by your System Administrator, you can omit the stage of requesting a licence file and proceed immediately to the final stage: running SAFETI-NL 6.54 to import the licence file. 1 Licence types are Floating (sometimes called Concurrent), Standalone and Security Key. Floating and Standalone licences are called Network licences in this document and they require specific setting as described in the section Setting a Windows Service. The Network licence file contains the line VENDOR dnvslm.

10 SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Installation Notes 10 Known Issues Known Issues Installation timeout On Microsoft Vista, Windows 7 and later, during the SAFETI 6.54 Patch 2 Installation, if the security warning is not acknowledged by clicking on Yes, the installation will abort and the following dialog will be displayed. To continue, please click on Finish. You will have to restart the installation by clicking on SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 again. Installation while the User is not connected to the Organization Network Installation may fail if the user is working offline. In this case the installation will produce the following error or similar message: There are various workarounds to overcome this issue: Connect to your network. If you are at your office, connecting to the missing network resource by joining your domain/network (plugging in an Ethernet cable or switching on your wireless connection) or if you are not in the office, using a Virtual Private Network connection over the internet will overcome the issue. In some cases making offline files available can overcome the issue as it simulates the presence of the network resource when you are not connected to the network. To switch on Offline Files capability start Windows File Explorer and choose the menu item Tools > Folder Options > Offline Files. Check the box Enable Offline Files.

It is advisable to switch the unused offline files capability off again once SAFETI-NL is installed if it is not your usual practice. Virtualisation There are several issues with running SAFETI-NL on a virtualization operating system (Citrix, VMware, Oracle, Virtual PC, XP Mode under Windows 7, etc). SAFETI-NL 6.54 is not supported under any virtualised operating system. Windows 8 issue At the time of the release, Windows 8 has just been released. We have checked that SAFETI-NL 6.54 with patch 2 runs on it. We have not performed any tests, as the operating system is not in its final stage. DNV Software Support can inform you about any newer known Windows 8 issues..net Framework 3.5 not installed By default, Windows 8 setting does not install.net Framework 3.5 (which includes.net Framework 2.0 and 3.0). However, SAFETI-NL 6.54 installation requires.net Framework 2.0 to be installed before setup.exe is run. You will either need to download the Framework or use the Windows 8 installation DVD. How to check whether.net Framework is installed Start Control Panel Click on Settings, Control Panel from the right pane Click on Uninstall a program

12 SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Installation Notes 12 Known Issues Check whether.net Framework 3.5 is installed From Program and Feature dialog, click on Turn Windows features on or off Browse the Windows Features list Check whether.net Framework 3.5 is installed (ticked), right In this example,.net Framework 3.5 is not installed (it is unticked) and will need to be installed before SAFETI-NL 6.54 s setup.exe is run. Installing.NET Framework 3.5 while the computer is connected to the internet As the download size is around 60MB, a stable and high speed bandwidth is recommended. Go to the Windows Features list In the Control Panel dialog, click on Uninstall a program In the Programs and Features dialog, click on Turn Windows features on or off

13 SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Installation Notes 13 Known Issues Expand and tick mark.net Framework 3.5 As shown on the right the sub-features do not have to be installed Click on OK to download and install.net Framework 3.5 by following the various dialogs (details are outside the scope of this document). When the installation is completed, please close all Windows related to Control Panel. This concludes the installation of.net Framework 3.5 by downloading it from the internet. SAFETI-NL 6.54 setup.exe can be run now. Installing.NET Framework 3.5 when the computer is not connected to the internet In this case you must have the Windows 8 installation DVD inserted into the DVD drive. You must also have elevated privileges (like an administrator account). Run as administrator cmd.exe Using File Explorer, browse to C:\windows\System32 Search for cmd.exe (depending on your setting.exe may not appear as shown on the right) Right-click on the file cmd.exe Select Run as administrator (you may be prompted for an administrator account and password) Click on Yes if this standard security dialog appears

14 SAFETI-NL 6.54 Patch 2 Installation Notes 14 Known Issues Install.NET Framework 3.5 from the Windows 8 Installation DVD. dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:netfx3 /All /Source:D:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess where D: is the drive letter for the Windows 8 Installation DVD. On Completion If the operation completed successfully, you can start the installation of SAFETI-NL 6.54 again as described in the installation section. On Failure In case of failure, please contact your IT department for help or DNV software support for advice..net Framework 3.5 installation message during the SAFETI-NL 6.54 installation If the following dialog appears during the SAFETI-NL 6.54 installation and you are not connected to the Internet, we need to abort the installation of.net Framework 3.5, uninstall DNVS GMO Add-in, install.net Framework 3.5 and finally restart the installation of SAFETI-NL 6.54 by running its setup.exe. These steps are described below. If the machine is connected to the Internet click on Download and install this feature. Follow the steps during the Framework 3.5 installation until its successful completion then proceed to the SAFETI-NL 6.54 installation as described in the SAFETI-NL 6.54 installation Notes and disregard the rest of this section. Prompt to install.net Framework 3.5 During the installation of the pre-requisites DNVS GMO Add-in you may get the dialog on the right..net Framework 3.5 is not installed and without it the pre-requisites will not be installed properly. Click on Cancel if the machine is not connected to the Internet and proceed with the rest of this section Click on Download and install this feature and follow the installation steps required to install.net Framework 3.5 and finally proceed to the standard installation process as described earlier in this document. Do not cancel any pre-requisites. Wait while installing and the SAFETI-NL 6.54 s Welcome dialog appears (see next step)

Close the main SAFETI-NL 6.54 installation Click on Finish when completed Uninstall DNVS GMO Add-in Start Control Panel Click on Uninstall a program Search for DNVS GMO Add-in Select it and click on Uninstall Are you sure? Depending on the operating system configuration, if this dialog appears, click on Yes User Account Control Depending on the operating system configuration, if this dialog appears, click on Yes Close Control Panel windows Install.NET Framework 3.5 This step is describes in the following sections: Installing.NET Framework 3.5 when the computer is not connected to the internet Installing.NET Framework 3.5 while the computer is connected to the internet

Failure to click Yes within 90 seconds would lead to installation failure as described in the section Known Issues. Click on Yes to continue with the installation.
