1 Welcome to the instruction of how to install the Tacx Desktop application in combination with the Tacx Cloud. Before we begin it is good to understand how the Tacx applications work. Tacx Cloud Tacx created a cloud environment. Your activities are stored in the Cloud and synchronized with the application that you run. Supported applications. Tacx Training app 2.0 (phones) Tacx Training app 3.0 (phones and tablets, launch December 2017) Tacx Cycling app (tablets) Tacx Desktop application (windows 10, ios (Q1 2018) Tacx Online shop. Tacx Training software 4 is not connected to the cloud. (If you already have the Tacx Training app or Cycling app installed, then please continue with the Tacx Desktop application. Please use the same login as you use for Training app or Cycling app.) Please go to Create an account. If you login via Facebook/google then please make sure that you do the same with all the Tacx apps and use the same Facebook/google account as you have created your Tacx cloud from. 2 If you do not have the Facebook/Google account on all devices, it is easier to create the account. Even if you use Facebook/Google with the same address, it is not the same account for Tacx. (When you first start the Tacx Desktop application, you can also create an Tacx cloud account) In manage profile, add your name, profile details etc. Weight is important for slope trainings. FTP value is the average wattage you can ride for 1 hour. There are many programs that can calculate your FTP value (Tacx applications will synch this with your cloud, only available on the Cycling app) After this close the cloud website. 3 Installation Tacx Desktop application The Tacx desktop application has gone live on 12 th of Februari You can download it from the Windows store. Search for Tacx. Language support is only English. 5 Here we are again with the Cloud login It is important to understand that Tacx Desktop application always needs to be connected to internet. Login with the same account. Next screen is the connection screen. When Bluetooth is not connected your will only see the simulator. You can use the simulator to see how it works without a trainer (Select SELECT ALL) Tacx Desktop application

6 Connecting the trainer To connect the trainer select SELECT ALL by pressing on the button The trainer sensors are now all connected. After a few second the heartrate sensor will disappear Follow the same procedure to connect a Bluetooth Heartrate belt Tacx Desktop application

7 Settings The settings screen is divided into 2 screens. General settings and Training settings Training settings Most of the settings are clear. Important is Road feel intensity (for the NEO). All the FILMS will have road feel in it, so you can turn it off or decrease the sensitivity. The app will start always with a warmup. If you want to cancel this, then please put warmup at 0 sec. 8 A widget is an image during the ride that can change to a different page (after each x seconds). More information explained further. It is important to understand that Exports to Strava are organized in the cloud and not in the Tacx Desktop application. Please see settings in Tacx Cloud how to auto update it. Some fields can be turned off or on. To display the pedal stroke analyze, please update the latest firmware via the Tacx Utility app that can be downloaded on your phone or tablet (Android and ios). By pressing on the pictures (see red cross) you can hide data if you want. Tacx Desktop application

9 FILMS There are 3 free demo films available. Dinant to Namur Cycle Tour England, Gold Hill Grosse Scheidegg Demo For all the other films you need a subscription. You can activate the subscription in your cloud via SETTINGS. Tacx Desktop application

10 Download a film The films needs to be downloaded first. It is not a streaming service. Select GENT and then press on DOWNLOAD The FILTER option will help you filtering after you have downloaded some film. You have some options for HD or 720 quality. Press the small arrow to start the download. After that a pauze button will appear to pauze the download if you want. Tacx Desktop application

11 Start a film The blue routes are the fixed routes in the film. The complete route (at top) and some parts route. It is not possible (yet) to select a partial route. The yellow routes are your activity routes (that you have ridden one time before). You can select then and then select your ghost opponent. It is possible to stop during a ride and then save your activity. This way you can create different routes. Tacx Desktop application

13 Opponents You can select yourself as an opponent. It is also possible to have other no real time live opponents if you select your profile as open in the Cloud. Other Tacx users are then able to see you in the Tacx cloud and ride against your activity (is opponent). If you want other Tacx users to use you as an opponent, then open the cloud and go to Manage Profiles. At the bottom (Privacy settings), set your settings to Public or Protected (only followers from the community can see you). They will then also be displayed under each film (green marked). 14 Now select the Tab Opponents in Tacx Desktop application. It will check the Tacx Cloud and you can select your opponents. Start the film Widgets display during a ride can be changed (automatic, if you select the 2 arrows). Depending on your settings the widget will change display each x seconds. 16 Finishing a ride When you are done with the ride and stop halfway, then you need to press the ESC button to exit the ride. The data is automatically saved to the cloud (there is no save button). When you finish a ride, the data is automatically saved to the cloud (There is no save button). 18 TROUBLE SHOOT 1. Connection issues, no resistance, or speed during a ride We have seen reports that customers do not have resistance or speed during a training. 99% of the problem is due to a connection via the main Bluetooth screen on the PC. You will also see that the trainer is not highlighted in the main connection screen of TDA See attached solution and trouble shoot for this Select the search option in your start bar (see picture) Then search for Bluetooth and click on Bluetooth and other devices settings. 19 On this page you will see a list of all your connected Bluetooth devices. It is very important that your Tacx Trainer is NOT listed here. Else it will not work in the Tacx Desktop Application. In case your trainer is connected here, click on your trainer name. Doing this will open up an option to remove your device from the Bluetooth connection. 2. Bluetooth Radio is not on This problem can be caused by the privacy settings of windows. Go to 'Search in Windows' this is at the bottom left of your start bar (next to the windows icon). Enter 'Privacy settings' here and open this program. Then click on 'Radios' on the left side of your screen. And then see if the 'Let Apps control radios' is On. Then click on 'Other Devices' and enable these options. When this is on, then the old bluetooth adapter is installed Please see Bluetooth solution 3 for this. 20 Application crash In case an application crashes, it might help to turn off the widget for GPS view. We have seen with some customers that this solves the problem. Also please send the logs (via the support button) to Tacx so we can investigate the problem. Most Asked Questions and solutions 1. I installed the application but cannot see how to start it (only from the Windows store) Answer: Select Windows logo. Here you will see all you apps. Select the Tacx Desktop application. When it runs, you can also select and pin it to your taskbar. 2. What happens when I ride and the application crashes. Will I lose my data? Answer: no, the data is stored each 2 seconds. The moment the application crashes, just restart the application. At that moment the temporary file is being synched with the Tacx Cloud and you will not lose your data. 3. I received a voucher code. How do I redeem it Answer: open the cloud. Then open a new webpage and go to Then add the code. The discount of free access will be added to your cloud account. 4. Does it really only works on Bluetooth The ANT+ developer (Dynastream) needs to develop a driver for UWP (development environment for Microsoft, which Tacx Desktop app is using), which are not compatible with the older ANT+ driver. Therefor the driver cannot be certified by Microsoft and cannot be used under UWP for Windows 10 (were Tacx Desktop app has been build on). At this point we are not sure when this can be implemented. 21 5. Can I use my Tacx Trainer software 4 films Answer: We understand your concerns regarding the TTS software versus the newly launched Tacx software platform. Important to understand is that these are two completely different software platforms. TTS is very comprehensive software suite for windows only, comprising many different features such as VR worlds, RLV, GPS workouts, Multiplayer and Catalyst trainings. Secondly the setup in terms of buying vs a subscription model is different on these two platforms. TTS works on a pay and own structure, where the new Tacx software platform is going to be based on a monthly subscription model. Important to mention is that the films purchased for TTS are not able to be transferred into the new software platform. TTS will be kept supported by us in the future. Tacx Desktop application
