Installing the printer using the Software and Doumentation CD 1 Close all open appliations. 2 Insert the Software and Doumentation CD. If the installation sreen does not appear after a minute, then launh the CD manually: From the Searh harm, type run, and then navigate to: Apps list > Run > type D:\setup.exe > OK a Clik, or lik Start, and then lik Run. In the Start Searh or Run dialog, type D:\setup.exe.

Installing the printer loally (Windows) Updates for the printer software may e availale on the Lexmark We site at What is loal printing? Loal printing is printing to a loally attahed printer (a printer that is onneted diretly to your omputer with a USB or parallel ale). When setting up this type of printer, you should install the printer software efore onneting the USB ale. For more information, see the setup doumentation that ame with the printer. The Software and Doumentation CD an e used to install the neessary printer software on most Windows operating systems. Installing the printer using the Add Printer wizard (Windows only) Note: For the list of supported Windows operating systems, see Supported operating systems on page 1. 1 Close all open software programs. 2 Otain a opy of the software installer pakage. From the Software and Doumentation CD that ame with the printer Note: If an installation dialog appears, then lose the dialog. From our We site at 3 Run the Add Printer wizard. Selet the port you want to use, and then lik Next. 4 Clik Have Disk, and then speify the loation of the printer software. Note: The path should e similar to D:\Drivers\Print\GDI\, where D is the letter of your drive that ontains the software installer pakage. 5 Clik OK, and then follow the instrutions on the omputer sreen.

3 Connetion Guide Page 3 of 6 Installing the printer on a network (Windows) What is network printing? In Windows environments, network printers an e onfigured for diret printing or shared printing. Both network printing methods require the installation of printer software and the reation of a network port. Printing method Example IP printing Printer is onneted diretly to the network using a network ale, suh as an Ethernet ale. Printer software is typially installed on eah network omputer. Shared printing Printer is onneted to one of the omputers on the network using a loal ale, suh as a USB or parallel ale. Printer software is installed on the omputer attahed to the printer. During software installation, the printer is set up to e shared so that other network omputers an print to it. Installing the printer on an Ethernet network (Windows only) Before installing the printer on an Ethernet network, make sure the initial setup of the printer is omplete, and the printer is onneted to an ative Ethernet network. 1 Close all open software programs. 2 Otain a opy of the software installer pakage. From the Software and Doumentation CD that ame with your printer From our We site: Go to and then navigate to: SUPPORT & DOWNLOAD > selet your printer > selet your operating system 3 Doule lik the software installer pakage. Wait for the installation dialog to appear. If you are using a Software and Doumentation CD and the installation dialog does not appear, then do the following: From the Searh harm, type run, and then navigate to: Apps list > Run > type D:\setup.exe > OK. a Clik or lik Start, and then lik Run. In the Start Searh or Run dialog, type D:\setup.exe. Press Enter or lik OK. Note: D is the letter of your CD or DVD drive.

4 Connetion Guide Page 4 of 6 4 Clik Install, and then follow the instrutions on the omputer sreen. 5 Selet Ethernet onnetion, and then lik Continue. 6 Attah the Ethernet ale to the omputer and to the printer when instruted to do so. 7 Selet the printer from the list, and then lik Continue. Note: If the onfigured printer does not appear in the list, then lik Modify Searh. 8 Follow the instrutions on the omputer sreen. Sharing the printer on a network 1 Open the printers folder. From the Searh harm, type run, and then navigate to: Apps list > Run > type ontrol printers > OK a Clik or lik Start, and then lik Run. In the Start Searh or Run dialog, type ontrol printers. Press Enter, or lik OK. 2 Depending on your devie, do either of the following: Press and hold the printer you want to share. Right lik the printer you want to share. 3 From the menu that appears, lik Printer Properties or Sharing. 4 From the Sharing ta, selet Share this printer or Shared as, and then assign a distintive name. 5 From the Ports ta, lik Add Port > Loal Port > New Port. 6 Type the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) port name, and then lik OK. Note: The UNC port name onsists of the server name and the distintive printer name, and should e in the form \ \server\printer. 7 Clik Apply > OK. Installing the printer loally (Maintosh) Before installing the printer loally (Maintosh only) The printer an e onneted to a loal network using a USB ale. When setting up the printer this way, install the printer software first efore onneting the USB ale. For more information, see the doumentation that ame with the printer. 5 Connetion Guide Page 5 of 6 Creating a print queue (Maintosh only) To print loally from a Maintosh omputer, you will need to reate a print queue. 1 Install the printer driver file on the omputer. a d e f Insert the Software and Doumentation CD, and then doule lik the installer pakage for the printer. Follow the instrutions on the omputer sreen. Selet a destination, and then lik Continue. From the Easy Install sreen, lik Install. Type the user password, and then lik OK. All the neessary software is installed on the omputer. Clik Close when installation is omplete. 2 From the Apple Menu, navigate to any of the following: System Preferenes > Print & San > Open Print Queue System Preferenes > Print & Fax > Open Print Queue 3 Verify that the print queue was reated. Installing the printer on an Ethernet network (Maintosh only) 1 Install the printer driver file on the omputer: a d e f Insert the Software and Doumentation CD, and then doule lik the installer pakage for the printer. Follow the instrutions on the omputer sreen. Selet a destination, and then lik Continue. From the Standard Install sreen, lik Install. Type the user password, and then lik OK. All the neessary software is installed on the omputer. Clik Close when installation is omplete. 2 Add the printer. For IP printing: a From the Apple menu, navigate to any of the following: System Preferenes > Print & San System Preferenes > Print & Fax Clik +. Clik the IP ta. d Type the printer IP address in the address field, and then lik Add. For AppleTalk printing: Notes: Make sure AppleTalk is ativated on your printer. This feature is supported only in Ma OS X version 10.5 a From the Apple menu, navigate to: System Preferenes > Print & Fax Clik +, and then navigate to: AppleTalk > selet the printer from the list > Add
