Welcome to the MR ncoded Laser hecks Module MR ncoded Laser hecks is a Highower enhancement for the M 90 and M 200 applications developed by est oftware. he MR ncoded Laser hecks module expands the printing capabilities of your ccounts Payable and Payroll modules to include Magnetic nk haracter Recognition (MR) codes on checks. MR codes enable checks to be read by electronic sorters in various banks during check clearing process. You can also create custom signature and logo files, and set security for the signatures within MR ncoded Laser hecks. Unlike the MR printing currently available in M 90/M 200, individual user workstations do not need to download specific fonts, and MR ncoded Laser hecks does work in a itrix or erminal ccess erver environment. hapter 1: ntroduction MR ncoded Laser hecks Manual

8 8 MR ncoded Laser hecks can also save your company time and money. ll check form information is user-configurable eliminating the risk of obsolete check forms. lso, MR eliminates the need to purchase and load different paper stock for each account. You can print all checks for multiple accounts on one common blank stock. ntegration with ther M 90/M 200 Modules he MR ncoded Laser hecks module is integrated with other M 90/M 200 modules. When integrated, each module "shares" common information with any related modules. he following M 90/M 200 modules integrate with the MR ncoded Laser hecks module: ccounts Payable Payroll o integrate the MR ncoded Laser hecks module with the ccounts Payable and/or Payroll modules, you must set up these modules before installing MR ncoded Laser hecks. ccounts Payable From ccounts Payable, you can automatically print checks for invoices that require payment. When integrating ccounts Payable with MR ncoded Laser hecks, the checks will print with the MR codes, the selected logo, and correct signature file. Payroll From the Payroll module, you can print paychecks and stubs for your employees, including employee earnings and deductions, employee and employer taxes, year-to-date earnings and tax information. When integrating Payroll with MR ncoded Laser hecks, the checks will print with the MR codes, the selected logo, and correct signature file. 16 hapter 2 MR ncoded Laser hecks oncepts hapter 2 hapter 2: MR ncoded Laser hecks oncepts explains different concepts you need to know to use your MR ncoded Laser hecks module to the fullest extent. Using MR ncoded Laser hecks with M 90/M 200 he MR ncoded Laser hecks module integrates with the printing function available in ccounts Payable and Payroll. You setup bank information to print with MR codes, signatures for checks, and logos to include on checks through the MR ncoded Laser hecks module. When ccounts Payable or Payroll prints checks, this information will be included. 16 o print MR codes correctly requires a printer that has MR capabilities. he MR ncoded Laser hecks module supports both the HP LaserJet and HP LaserJet printer types, or any other printer with MR capabilities. 21 21 ystem tartup ystem tartup is an automatic procedure that must be performed once per company. his procedure is initiated the first time you access MR ncoded Laser hecks for a specific company. uring ystem tartup, you will advance automatically through a complete sequence of activities in which you enter options to tailor MR ncoded Laser hecks to your company s specific requirements. he information entered in ystem tartup can be modified at any time from the etup menu. Register the MR ncoded Laser hecks Module When you try to open the MR ncoded Laser hecks module for the first time, you will need to register the enhancement. You will receive a registration and key from your Highower representative. 1 From the Library Master module ecurity menu, select Product Registration. 2 lick the Registration tab to access the Product Registration Maintenance window. M 200 or M 200 for QL nstallations fter the installation or upgrade is completed on the M 200 server, you must run the lient erver Workstation nstall on each workstation for each Highower enhancement that has been installed or upgraded. o run the lient erver Workstation nstall, click on the Utilities menu of Library Master. lick on the lient erver Workstation nstall menu option to display the lient erver Workstation nstallation window. 31 hapter 5 Using the etup Menu hapter 5 hapter 5: Using the etup teaches you how to setup options for your company and how to create and maintain standard data used within the MR ncoded Laser hecks module. How to Use the etup Menu he options available in the etup menu allow your company to setup company-wide standards.
