2 SETTING UP YOUR COMPUTER FOR USING myteam

1 2 FOR USING myteam myteam should be accessed via MUSE using either Firefox or Internet Explorer (IE) as your internet browser. To ensure that myteam functions correctly when using either of these browsers you must reset your browser settings. 2.1 Managed Computers Browser settings If you use a managed PC you can access myteam using one of the supported internet browsers, which are IE or Firefox. To ensure that myteam functions correctly when using either of these browsers you must reset your browser settings, using the instructions below Firefox (ver 2) Browser setting on a Managed Computer 1. From the Start button, select the Load Application Menus. The application menu will load. 2. Again from the Start button, select Applications, and then FireFox. This will load FireFox and also put an icon on your desktop for future use. 1.3/cea 2-1

2 2.1.2 IE Browser setting on a Managed Computer 1. From the Start button, select the Load Application Menus. The application menu will load. 2. Again from the Start button, select Applications, and then CIS and ubase IE Settings. This will alter the browser settings for IE. 2.2 Unmanaged Computers If you use an unmanaged PC, Mac or another platform you can access myteam using one of the supported internet browsers, which are IE or Firefox. To ensure that myteam functions correctly when using either of these browsers you must check your browser set up otherwise some functionality will appear not to work correctly Firefox Browser Set Up On the PC version of Firefox the browser settings are accessed via Tools and then Options, as shown below. In the Macintosh version settings are amended by clicking on Firefox and then Preferences. 1.3/cea 2-2

5 2.2.2 IE Browser Set Up In Internet Explorer the settings are accessed via Tools, Internet Options, as shown below:. 1. Check settings in IE. 2. Amend the security for the local intranet. 1.3/cea 2-5

6 3. Click on the Advanced button. 4. Add *.shef.ac.uk to this zone. 2.3 Log on to myteam Log on to MUSE from the University home page and select the Staff Applications tab. If you are unable to log into MUSE you may need to synchronise your passwords. To synchronise your passwords go to: 1.3/cea 2-6

7 Click the link for myteam. The Overview page of myjob will be displayed. 2.4 LOGGING OFF There is an automatic system log off after the system has been idle for more than 15 minutes BUT Remember to always log off after using myteam. myteam contains personal data which you should protect from unauthorised users by logging off whenever you have finished using the system. If you leave your office, you should lock the workstation using the CTRL-ALT-DELETE key combination. The workstation can only be unlocked by entering your password. Keep your password secure. Don t write it down and don t tell anyone what your password is. If someone needs to use the system they should apply for access in their own right. If you suspect the security of your password has been breached, change your password immediately by going to 1.3/cea 2-7

8 2.5 Printing reports in myteam When printing reports in myteam you should use the following instructions; the procedure is the same for both IE and FireFox browsers.these instructions are not relevant to other printing capabilities in myteam, myjob, my Purchase nor ubase Firefox The following instructions assume that you have successfully run a report within myteam and you are now ready to print. 1. Press Menu, List and then Print. 2. Type pdf1 into the Output Device box, press Return, and then click on the Green tick. 1.3/cea 2-8

9 3. The report will open in your default PDF viewer, which you can then print from using the standard methodology. 1.3/cea 2-9
