3 Important Information The Individual Tax Module ( ITM ) is to be installed on a central server and all users are then able to access it from their workstations. The only time an installation will have to take place on the workstation of individual users is when the users require an update or an installation of TaxWare in order to accommodate the Individual Tax Module. These instructions apply only to servers which run Windows 7 or Windows Server 2003 operating systems. A separate document is available for servers which run Windows Server Servers running any other operating systems are not supported in our documentation at present. Please ensure that all workstations accessing Individual Tax Module are running Internet Explorer 9 or later. Workstations running Windows XP operating system may be unable to update to Internet Explorer 9 or later. In this event, users should update to the highest available version of Internet Explorer. Thereafter this following file should be downloaded from Microsoft and installed. F113258FC28A/MicrosoftFixit50403.msi The steps that follow are to be carried out on the server on which ITM is being installed and do not need to be repeated on workstations. Before Installing Individual Tax Module 1. Ensure that IIS (and ASP.NET) is enabled on the Server Open the Control panel Click on Programs Select Programs and features Turn Windows features on/off Expand Internet Information Services Expand Web Management Tools Check all boxes under Web Management Tool Expand IIS 6 Management Compatibility Page 3

4 Check all boxes underneath IIS 6 management compatibility Collapse IIS 6 Management Compatibility Expand World Wide Web Services Expand Application development features Check all boxes under Application Development Features Expand Common HTTP Features Check all boxes under Common HTTP Features Click on OK Page 4

5 2. Install.NET Framework 4 (available free from Microsoft) Server may have to be restarted after installation as per on screen instructions. Installing Individual Tax module on the Server On the server run Setup.exe from the disc provided or from the ITM download page. Follow the instructions on the installation wizard and, when prompted, enter the licence key provided to you with this product. When prompted to integrate ITM with your practice file, click Browse and specify the location of your TaxWare Practice File (.TW2). Page 5

6 Click Open Click Next You will be asked if you would like to integrate with another practice. If you have only one practice file click No. If your practice uses more than one database/practice file, click Yes and locate the practice file as per the steps above. Click Finish to complete the installation. Page 6

7 Accessing the Individual Tax Module on workstations Note: In order to access ITM on an individual work station, the latest version of TaxWare should be installed. Contact CQS BackOffice support or check the BackOffice Download page ( for latest TaxWare version. To access ITM, open TaxWare, and from the Taxpayer section select an individual taxpayer. Create a new Tax Year by selecting New > Tax Year From the dialog Window, select 2012 Tax Year and click OK Create an annual return for the taxpayer by selecting New > Annual Return from the menu. You will be prompted to select a tax year for the Annual Return, select Page 7

8 Open the relevant Annual Return by locating it on the tree menu on the left under the relevant tax year. From the Annual Return view click on the Edit ITR12 button located near the bottom left of your screen. (Note: This button will only be available if Individual Tax Module is properly installed). The Individual Tax Module will open in the main window. Page 8

9 Changing License Key or integrating with different TaxWare practice When installing ITM, a Configuration Tool will automatically be installed. The tool allows you to amend the licence key or to select a different TaxWare practice file to integrate with ITM. The Configuration Tool can be located in the Windows Start Menu > All Programs > ITM > ITM From within this tool a licence key can be altered and a new practice file can be linked as per the steps above.
