2 1 Abstract SMAVIA Recording Server is a VideoIP server software for storing IP-based audio and video streams, designed for installation on systems with Windows 7 operating system and appropriate hardware equipment. The recordings can be stored in the local network on NAS (Network Attached Storage) network drives. This document provides a general description how NAS network drives must be configured and prepared in local networks with Windows 7 to be used as a storage medium with the SMAVIA Recording Server. 2 Validity This document is intended for the software SMAVIA Recording Server (Windows) from version Conventions This document may contain various warning words and symbols that indicate potential sources of danger: NOTICE NOTICE indicates practices for preventing property damage, incorrect configurations or faulty operations. 3 4 Preparation ¾¾Connect the NAS network drive according to the manufacturer s instructions to the local network (LAN). ¾¾In order to do this note the documentation from the manufacturer. 5 Map Network Drive The NAS network drive must first be set in Windows 7 as a network drive. In order to do this assign a arbitrary drive letter and the shared folder on the NAS network drive. ¾¾Start up the workstation. ¾¾Open the Computer dialogue via Start > Computer. ¾¾Open the Map Network Drive dialogue via Map network drive. Fig. 1 ¾¾Select an appropriate drive letter in the drop down menu Drive. ¾¾Enter the required Folder path. or ¾¾Click the Browse... button in order to find and to connect the folder sharing of NAS network drive on the local network. ¾¾Select the relevant option if required: Reconnect at logon: If this option is enabled, the shared folders on the NAS network drive is automatically restored at each logon. Connect using different credentials: This option should be enabled only if the local user account on the other server is not known. ¾¾Confirm with the Finish button. 3

4 The Enter Network Password dialogue is displayed. Fig. 2 ¾¾Enter the Username and the Password of the local windows user account. ¾¾Enable the Remember my credentials option if required. The folder sharing of NAS network drive is included and is ready for use. Fig. 3 6 Enable Services Account For the SRSEve background service of SMAVIA Recording Server must be assigned an administrator, so that the SMAVIA Recording Server can use the NAS network drive as a storage medium. ¾¾Open the Windows Task Manager. ¾¾Select the Services tab. 4

5 Fig. 4 ¾¾Open the Services dialogue via the Services... button. Fig. 5 ¾¾Highlight the SRSEve service. ¾¾Right-click the highlighted SRSEve service in order to open the context menu. ¾¾Select the Properties. 5

6 The SRSEve Properties dialogue is dispalyed. Fig. 6 ¾¾Select the Log On tab. ¾¾enable the This account option. ¾¾Enter the name of an administrator in the This account box. ¾¾Enter the Password of the administrator account and confirm it. ¾¾Click the OK button in order to save the settings. Fig. 7 ¾¾Open the context menu of the SRSEve service in the Services dialogue again ¾¾Select Restart. ¾¾Close the Services dialogue. ¾¾Close the Windows Task Manager. The NAS network drive can now as a storage medium for recording with the SMAVIA Recording Server be used (note the documentation Configuration SMAVIA Recording Server for Windows). 6
