2 1 Abstract This document contains information on news and changes that are introduced with the current version of the software. Additionally it gives an overview on the tested and supported functional range of the various software versions. 2 Validity This document applies to the software SMAVIA Viewing Client. It has been created on basis of the software version Compatibility The software SMAVIA Viewing Client is compatible with the following hardware and software after the update to the current version: DMS 2400 as of version DLS 1600 as of version IPS 2400 as of version VideoNetBox II as of version DVS 1600 II as of version DVS 1600 II IPS as of version Notes Note that this update to version is free of charge. the innovations are only generally described in this document. the use of some functions may require a license subject to charges. the Dallmeier support hotline is always available for further questions. 5 Procedure SMAVIA Viewing Client is available on the corresponding product page in the Dallmeier Partner Forum. SMAVIA Viewing Client is offered as a full version only. An older version can be updated by installation into the existing program folder. Note that the ProgramData.bin configuration file is not overwritten during the installation. This file must be deleted prior to installation, if you want to use the default settings of the new version. 6 Auto Update SMAVIA Viewing Client has an auto-update feature that can be enabled / disabled via Configuration > Login > Check for updates. If a connection can be established to the Internet, the function periodically checks whether an update is available. Note that an update is displayed, but not applied automatically. 2

3 7 Innovations Panomera Multifocal Sensor Systems The current version of the SMAVIA Viewing Client software has been optimized for live display and playback of Panomera Multifocal Sensor Systems. The live display or playback can be activated in a split as usual, after the definition of the corresponding recording system (SMAVIA Recording Server as of version 8.x.6). Note and use the new and beneficial features such as individual split-definition or corridor mode (see below). If multiple clients are to access a Panomera Multifocal Sensor System simultaneously, the connection can be realized via multicast. SMAVIA Recording Server as of version 8.x.6 Workstation according to the Best Practice system requirements (see below) Split Definition The split views can be adjusted quickly and easily to Panomera channels. For this, you can individually define the number of splits as well as the respective horizontal and vertical measurements. Just select the splits that you would like to connect, define your own preview and save it as a preset. Corridor Mode You are not restricted to the preset split definitions (2x2, 3x3, 4x4, etc.) or image formats (16:9 or 4:3). Define a high split (corridor mode) to display a long distance area. Or define a wide split to display a large area. You can, of course, combine these splits and coveniently save them as a preset. 3

4 Display of Panels and Frames In addition to split view, you can personalise additional settings for the new SMAVIA Viewing Client. If you, for example, want to hide the lower operating panel, just doubleclick and the video image will cover the entire screen. Zoom with Overall View Window The zoom function is particularly useful: Just use the mouse wheel to zoom into the image. At the same time, a small additional window opens in which you can see the overview image and the selected section at all times. You can also just move the yellow box with the mouse in the overall view or scroll to navigate through the image. The additional window can be moved at will via drag-and-drop.. Quick Split Change The new split change function is also very convenient. When you want to show the image of a split in another split, just drag-anddrop the respective image to where you want to place it. The corresponding cameras are switched automatically and in real time, without having to interrupt the video analysis. This function is suited in particular for views with large and small splits, but can also be used in all other views. 4

5 Camera Tree The overview of all defined recording systems and cameras is shown when you move the mouse to the left display margin. From here, you can very easily activate the selected camera in a split either via drag-and-drop or by double-clicking the camera name. A tooltip with the most important information on the recording systems appears after moving your mouse the appliances. Right-click to directly open the corresponding configuration dialogue box. GPU Support SMAVIA Viewing Client has been optimised for the parallel decoding of multiple HD streams on graphics cards (GPU) with Nvidia CUDA technology. This allows powerful workstations to decode and display significantly more HD network cameras at the same time and in real time than before. In particular, we recommend the Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 graphics card to display Panomera multifocal sensor systems. It allows connecting up to three monitors and even displays very large Panomera views seamlessly. Recommended System One CPU core is required for decoding and displaying a HD stream or Panomera channel. An efficient and less expensive alternative exists in the parallel decoding on the GPU of a graphics card. Note the following best practice system requirements: Operating system Microsoft Windows 7/8 Professional (64 Bit) CPU 3.6 GHz quad-core RAM 16 GB DDR3 Graphics card NVidia GeForce GTX 750 CUDA Version 5.0 CUDA Cores 512 PureVideo Version VP6 Architecture Maxwell Network 1000 Mbit/s A system that meets these requirements is usually able to decode and display up to 30 HD streams or up to 2 Panomera S4 multifocal sensor systems. 5

6 Performance Monitor Please also note the newly integrated GPU and CPU monitor in the user interface menu bar. It permanently displays the remaining power of the workstation and supports the optimal operation and usage of the system. If necessary, the monitor can be opened in a separate window with a detailed graphical display. 6
